This Bump Up CDs guide is to help the investor understand the advantages and disadvantages of this particular type of investment.

The term bump up is in reference to what can be done with the interest rate of a CD before it matures. The standard CD is a fixed term investment which has a set to and agreed upon interest rate the investor is willing to loan the financial institution for the pre-described time span.

With a bump up CD, the interest rate that was agreed to when the deposit was made can be increased to a new level. The amount of the increase is generally limited to the set amount the financial institution is offering new clients for their CD’s at the same term your investment is.

This amount on average is only 0.25% and can only occur one time during the term of the CD. The actual amount of the increase is generally regulated by the movement by the Federal Reserve on the Prime rate. Usually this movement is only a quarter point.

If you have decided this is the path for you look at the fine print of the certificate. In some instances when you chose to bump up the rate as allowed, there is a catch of the term being extended. This is not always to the advantage of the investor.

Before investing in a bump up CD first look online. Banking and interest environments should favor the investor before this type of CD in purchased.

At the present time this type of investment is not in favor of the investor since the FED is not showing any signs of increasing the interest rates any time soon. Since the initial interest rate of the bump up CD is significantly lower than the fixed rate CD’s, the investor would not make as much of a profit as they would with a fixed rate CD.

I hope this Bump Up CDs guide helps clear up any confusion the banks have spread on this issue.

The list of the best Australia ETFs is only a selection of a few options. There are only three listed on an American stock exchange and they are iShares MSCI Australia Index fund (EWA), CurrentShares Australian Dollar Trust ETF (FXA) and the OQ Australia Small Cap ETF (KROO).

The EWA is the most popular and has been around the longest. This ETF has a broad investment portfolio which has exposure on the Australian market as a whole. 99% of the assets are invested in stocks. The sectors where the investments are located are the Financial Services with 44.4%, Industrial Materials with 25.5%, Consumer Services with 9.9%, Energy with 6.9% and Consumer Goods with 3.4%.

There are a total of 74 different companies that are invested in with this ETF. The annul turnover rate is 14%. This performance of this fund has been solid for 7 out of the past 8 years. The only year is went negative was 2008. For 2009 it has a performance of 67.90% but its YTD so far is – 5.71%. The average daily volume of trading is 5.4 million and this ETF has a one month performance of 2.83%.

The KROO was only begun in March of 2010 so there is not a track record yet. There are 100 different small cap companies this ETF is invested in. The sectors of investment are Industrial Materials with 28.2%, Consumer Services with 12.3%, Business Services with 11.9%, Financial Services with 10.8 and Media with 9.0%.

This ETF has a 3 month performance of -13.50 but a one month performance of 4.13%. Since it has only been in existence for 4 months, most investors are still having the wait and see attitude. The average daily volume is only 14k.

FXA has been around for a few years but has all of its assets in currency. This is for those that wish to invest on the movement of the Australian Dollar against the US Dollar. The average trading volume is 238k. Last year’s performance was 29.29% with an YTD so far of 1.68% and a one month at 3.03%.

If you are looking into online banking with what you think is the best Australia ETFs, make sure you watch them carefully. Australia was solid during the last recession, but that has no relevance on what will take place in the future.

Here at Online Banks Blog, we know that several of our readers are business owners who might be interested in the latest Chase Ink credit card offer for small business. This is a new credit card from Chase reserved only for business owners, which the company says comes with business-sized credit limits.

That means credit limits that are large enough to take care of major purchases, or flexible spending capacity that may grow as necessary with your business. This is especially important for small business owners right now, with all the credit lines being cut in the wake of the ongoing credit crisis. There are four types of Ink credit cards available, including Ink, Ink Plus, Ink Bold, and Ink Cash.

Ink Cash from Chase is the cash back version of the popular Ink business credit card. Ink Cash allows you to earn up to 3% cash back on eligible business purchases with no limit on the amount you can earn. For most small business owners, it’s probably the best option.

Ink from Chase also includes online business tools, allowing you to manage your account and any additional cards you may give to employees. You can set spending limits on employee cards as well as track expenses and identify potential tax deductions that you may qualify for with specific purchases.

If your business is in need of an on-demand credit line and could use the flexibility of a credit card, the Chase Ink credit card might be it.

Today we here at Online Banks Blog are going to look at CD rates in Oregon as part of our regional looks at various certificate of deposit rates nationally.

We’ll start with one year, then three year and finally five year terms. We’ll rank by annual percentage yield (APY) and give information such as minimum deposit requirements to open and maintain your Oregon CD.

For the one year term, Oregon CD rates are highest at Ally with a 1.48% APY and no minimum deposit requirement. Pacific Continental Bank has a 0.85% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit followed closely by Liberty Bank witha 0.80% APY and a $500 minimum.

In a 3-year term, we see CD rates in Oregon are highest again at Ally with a 2.27% APY and no minimum deposit requirement. Liberty BAnk has a 1.60% APY with a $500 minimum requirement and Pacific Continental has a 1.56% APY with a $1,000 minimum deposit. Both Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank have a 1.50% APY.

For the longer 5-year term, Oregon CD rates are still highest at Ally with a 2.94% APY and no minimum deposit. U.S. BAnk has a 2.50% APY with a $500 minimum deposit required. Wells Fargo Bank then comes in with a 2.25% APY and a $2,500 minimum deposit requirement to open and maintain.

All banks listed are FDIC insured. If any of these Oregon CD rates appeal to you, lock it in today as CD rates in Oregon can change at any time.

If you are looking for the best savings accounts update, you will find the current rates still not as good as they were in the past. The general trend is still down and a 2% yield is hard to find.

Sallie Mae’s High-Yield Savings Account lets you earn a competitive rate with an APY that is six times higher than the national average. There is no minimum balance, no minimum to open, and there is no monthly fee but you must have funds in your account in order to earn the 1.40% APY. They also have a 10% annual match on Upromise Earnings if you link your High-Yield Savings Account to your Upromise Account. This rate is posted June 6, 2010 and is still current and effective July 23, 2010.

EverBank’s Yield Pledge Money Market lets you earn a yield in the top 5% of competitive accounts. It has a minimum opening deposit of $1500 to earn a high yield, first-year 1.51% APY for new accounts with balances $50,000 or less. What’s more, the new account has a 3-month bonus rate of 2.25% APY offered to first time Yield Pledge Money Market Account holders. The first-year APY defines the total annual yield earned by combining the current 3-month bonus rate and 9 months of the current yield rate. This rate is posted July 23, 2010.

SmartyPig beats other traditional bank savings account easily with its 2.15% APY. Since it is a social savings vehicle, other people (like your friends and/or family members) can also contribute to your savings goal, aside from you the account owner. If you make a $25 initial deposit and set aside a pre-set amount each month, then SmartyPig actually makes a good choice to receive a higher return for your money, though there are a few more restrictions than traditional savings accounts have. SmartyPig is backed by a traditional bank, West Bank in Iowa. This rate is posted July 23, 2010.

These institutions have online banking so it will be convenient for you to visit their websites to learn more about their respective savings accounts.

For those who cannot risk putting their hard-earned money in a short-term investment with almost the same yield, the best savings accounts update may just provide some options for your money in this tough economic environment.

People looking for the best California banks, or a bank from anywhere for that matter, will have different qualifications why a particular bank in California is best for them. Some are looking for the best banking rates, while others will be looking for financial products with great programs, good customer service, or a combination of other reasons.

Californians prefer to do their banking in community banks that they consider the best. 1st Enterprise Bank in Los Angeles, Asian Pacific National Bank in San Gabriel, Balboa Thrift and Loan Association in Chula Vista, Bank of Marin in Novato, or California United Bank in Encino are examples of some of the preferred financial institutions.

While many are looking to community banks for excellent customer care, there are some who are more interested in a financial institution’s rates regardless whether it comes from a community bank, a credit union, or a large national bank.

Those looking for a very good rate on CDs in California may want to take a look at Patelco Credit Union’s current special New Member 1 Year CD which requires $1000 minimum to earn the 5.00% APY. However, it renews to the rate being offered on a regular 1 year CD at the time of maturity. This rate is posted July 16, 2010 and is still current and effective July 22, 2010. You might also want to look at competitive CD rates from the USAA Federal Savings Bank and Discover Bank.

For the best saving rates in California, you might want to check out Cardinal Bank’s Kids Club Savings with a 2.51% APY, SFGI Direct’s Direct Savings with a 1.51% APY and Clear Sky Accounts’ Clear Sky Savings with a 1.40% APY.

For the best interest checking rates, check out Danversbank’s Free Rewards Checking with 4.01% APY, Advantage Bank’s Rewards Checking with 4.00% APY and Redneck Bank’s Redneck Rewards with 4.00% APY. AmericaNet Bank and ViewPoint Bank are also worth looking at.

The respective rates are current and effective as of July 22, 2010 and most of these banks have online banking available.

The best California banks are the ones who actually fulfill your needs and requirements as a banking customer.
