After a week of intensive immersion at the WMAA Cabin, the OTKD Black Belts are returning to Buffalo with a renewed vigor and dedication to the mission. We endured miles upon miles of running, kicked hundreds of trees, and gathered energy from the 5th, 6th, and 7th degrees and are ready once again to take up the standard and carry it forth into the trenches.

If you’ve ever considered trying out a martial art and looking for a positive, community-oriented school, this is the time to check out Ohanamalu Tae Kwon Do.

The snow was deep, covering icy water and slush, the forms were magical, and the day was perfect!

    When one speaks of a Way, there is no sense that there is a thing. Things are not ways, they are things; transient, impermanent, illusory.

    When one embarks upon a Way, there is no sense of mastery, for mastery means control. In fact, what one seeks when upon a Way is not to master a thing, for there is no thing to master, but in fact to be that thing that is mastered by the Way.

    There is, at times when one feels most involved in their Way, an overpowering fear of this mastery. We fear a loss of self, we fear losing control, we fear leaving the life we know behind.

    Salvation is only achieved by facing these fears.

    There is no self to lose when one becomes one’s own Way.
    There is no control to be lost when one submits to their Way and is made one with its motion.
    There is no life to leave behind – neither in time nor space – when one’s finds the way is eternal and everywhere.
