The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2010 is to be awarded to all artists form the Citymonsters in Haifa for their extraordinary efforts to make an exciting project for all people and to cure the world. The Committee has attached special importance to Citymonsters' vision of and work for a world without boundaries: Monsters and Humans have become equal.. [bla bla bla]
The Committee endorses Citymonster's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."

We are turning Haifa's subway into a Monster Dungeon or a public drive-through art gallery !!!

This place is everything but usual. Or did you ever hear about a subway climbing up a mountain 274m high with a track length of only 1800m? Welcome to the smallest subway system in the world and the only one in Israel.

With your contribution we will convert this subway with its 6 stations into a underground monster dungeon, or – if you want – into a drive through art gallery!

Just imagine you sit in the tube and everything you see outside are your characters?

Submit your characters in a vectorfile or suitable to be printed up to 2m height. We will print them on vinyl stickers and post them on the plattform walls. You desire a specific location for your character?
Choose one from the images attached.

All characters will be printed with its name, your name and a link to your wesite/blog.

Earlier this year we announced the our idea of this project already, in the Hadar Carneval of Colors

We took a wall at the Massada Station of the Carmelits – Israels only subway – and converted it into a Paste-it-Stick-it-Draw-it-Hug-it Wall

Monsters were peaking out, announcing the project already and checking: "Do you want us? Vote for us"

מפלצות העיר

עונת המפלצות נפתחת

החל מתאריך 11 לספטמבר ועד סוף חודש נובמבר, יופיעו בכל רחבי העיר חיפה, עשרות מפלצות-עיר שיגעו בחיי התושבים ויעלו חיוך רחב על פניהם.

למפלצות העיר החיות ביננו, נמאס לראות את הפרצופים המודאגים סביבן וברוב קולות גדול החליטו לעשות מעשה: להחשף ולהעלות את מצב רוחם של תושבי העיר. לגרות אותם ולעורר בהם מגוון רגשות שמחים, שנשכחו בתקופה קשה זו.

בסדרה גדולה של אומנות רחוב יופיעו מפלצות מכל הגדלים ברחבי העיר חיפה על מבנים מרכזיים, מדרכות העיר והתחבורה הציבורית. המפלצות יוצבו בבתי העסק בעיר, יוקרנו בערב יחודי על בניין הענק של ממגורות בית דגון, יצויירו על מדרכות העיר, יוחבאו במקומות רבים בעיר ויזמינו את בני האדם להעיז ולהצטרף לחגיגה. האמיצים ביותר, תלמידי בתי הספר, יבראו דור חדש של מפלצות מצעצועים ישנים ושבורים. בכך יגדילו את אוכלוסיית המפלצות ואיתן,

את החיוך.

חברות ציבוריות ופרטיות מכל רחבי מטרופולין חיפה נרתמו לפרוייקט ויקחו חלק גדול בארועים במסגרתו בדרכים מפתיעות ומגוונות .

פרוייקט מפלצות העיר תוכנן כפרוייקט שנתי המעודד יצירתיות, יזמות תרבותית וחשיבה חיובית עבור תושבי חיפה ומבקריה. הפרוייקט נולד ונבנה ע"י מירב (סלוש) איתן וגסטון צהר מגלריית או*ג'י היוזמת פרוייקטים אינטראקטיביים המעודדים מחויבות חברתית באמצעות רעיונות ופתרונות קהילתיים.

הפרוייקט נעשה בשיתוף עיריית חיפה ואתו"ס-החברה לאומנות תרבות וספורט חיפה.

City monsters to Emerge in Haifa, from September 11th

From September 11^th, dozens of urban monsters will emerge in Haifa, citywide, to touch the lives of its residents and bring a broad smile to their faces.

Fed up with our sour faces, the city monsters, invisibly sharing our city, have decided to come out of their holes and do something to enhance our mood, and to evoke in us, a range of upbeat, happy emotions, long forgotten in these difficult times.

A series of street art installations and events will take place from September 11^th -November 30^th. These will range from monster- huge-scale monsters depicted on buildings, to theme films projected onto an eight-story-tall outdoor screen; to design your own monster workshops in schools, using old toys; to monster-image buses.

The project will invite people, companies and institutions to take an active part in it, by creating monsters; placing them in the city; assigning them a mission or providing them a home.

The city monster project, in close is designed as an annual series of installations and events that stimulate creativity, cultural entrepreneurship and positive thinking among Haifa residents and beyond. The project was conceived and created by Merav Eitan and Gaston Zahr of O*GE Interactive Gallery–engaged in promoting interactivity, design and social responsibility, through innovative, community-based ideas and solutions.

The City monster project is done in close collaboration with the municipality of Haifa and Ethos – Company for Art, Culture and Sport, Haifa

גינת הלילה

לאור ההצלחה בפסטיבל האור בירושלים,

"גינת הלילה" מוצגת עתה בגלריית או*ג'י בחיפה.

פתיחה:יום שישי 31.07.09 19:30

גינת הלילה מעניקה למבקרים חוויה חושית מרתקת של אור צבעוני וצלילים מופלאים.

הגינה מכילה פרחי ענק הבנויים ממתכת ורשת ומוארים בתאורת לדים צבעונית חסכונית באנרגיה. המיצב מלווה במוסיקת האנג ייחודית, המכניסה את המבקרים אל חלל דמיוני וקסום.

הפרוייקט בשיתוף חברת החשמל, המעודדת את השימוש באנרגיה חלופית וחסכונית, למען ההגנה על סביבתנו.

הגינה הוצגה בחודש יוני בפסטיבל האור הראשון שנערך בעיר העתיקה בירושלים וקצרה תשואות.

הפרחים:

בגינה שלושה סוגי פרחים: הלוטוס, הצבעוני וכדורי טל האור.

הלוטוס בנוי ממתכת ורשת אלומיניום.

הלוטוס מגיע לגובה של שני מטרים כאשר הוא סגור והוא נפתח לקוטר של שלושה מטרים.

הלוטוס נפתח ונסגר ע"י מנגנון ממונע ומתוכנת ומואר בשלל צבעים הבוקעים מכל חמשת עלי הכותרת וממרכזו של הפרח.

הצבעוני בנוי ממתכת צבועה משולבת בפתיתי זכוכית. הלוטוס מתנשא לגובה של שני מטרים ומואר באמצעות חבל לד צבעוני.

כדורי טל האור בנויים ממוטות ברזל דקים וזכוכית חברון. בכדורי הזכוכית נמצא לד המאיר אותם בשעות התערוכה.

מוסיקה:

המוסיקה בשעות הפעילות היא מוסיקת האנג שקטה ונעימה המלווה את המבקרים במסלולם.

בגינת הלילה ממוקמים 120 פרחי טל אור שבכל אחד מהם לד הצורך וואט אחד,

8 ציבעונים שבמרכזם חבל אור לדים הצורכים 48 וואט בכל פרח.

ו-5 לוטוסים שבכל אחד מהם ממוקמים 5 לדים הצורכים 3 וואט כל אחד.

סה"כ צריכת האנרגיה של תאורת הפרחים עומדת על 594 וואט.

כל גופי התאורה בפרוייקט הם לדים חסכוניים באנרגיה.
