The joke goes deep but the best part might be when Jimmy says, “Let’s try to get past that Melissa.” It’s the total twist of the knife.

If you are a cruel person you might want to go back and watch Melissa’s face a few times after the bomb lands. She is speechless because there is no come back from that. Also you can see the pain in her face.

Alright, let’s start the weekend…

—————————————-

I thought I should acknowledge the fact that the Yankees won the World Series. You might have noticed that after doing write-ups for each of the first 5 games, Richie decided to opt-out of doing so for game 6.

It’s funny because I didn’t write a thing about it and neither did he. Yet, it was not contrived. We just talked about it via text today and realized that neither of us had the strength to pull anything together on the topic.

So, congrats Yankee fans. That’s all you get.

—————————————-

LeBron is in New York tonight to play the Knicks at the Garden. Let the twenty-ten talk begin. Hell, that talk should be more interesting than the game is.

If the Cavs keep losing this LeBron leaving to go somewhere thing becomes a realer and realer possibility. If David Stern would let him I bet that James would rock a Yankee cap during the game tonight.

—————————————-

Terrell acknowledges that the Bills are awful for TMZ in this video. The best part is at the very beginning. The camera guys asks if the Bills are going to “take it all” this year. Owens pauses. His girlfriend just laughs hysterically.

Also, in the video TO is outside of Koi in LA. Word is he whenever he gets a chance to escape he is no where near Buffalo. I suppose you can’t blame him. I saw how much fun he was having on the west coast in his award winning reality show.

—————————————-

College football games to watch…

Friday

8:00 – Boise St @ Louisiana Tech +21 [ESPN 2]

Louisiana Tech is not bad. They have had to close loses the past two times out. This should be Boise’s toughest test in quite some time. Is it a dick move if I just am hoping Boise State craps out here, or at some point, and loses?

Saturday

12:00 – Northwestern @ Iowa -16 [ESPN]

Last week Iowa’s game was some what wild, at least wild for a Big Ten game. I still have zero interst in this game and team in general. Is it a dick move if I just am hoping Iowa craps out here, or at some point, and loses?

3:30 – Duke @ North Carolina -10 [ESPN2]

I love how ESPN has to air this. I assume they know this is a football game. When will they start airing UNC-Duke field hockey?

Wow, I didn’t realize Duke has won 4 of their last 5… against the bowels of the ACC but still. I have seen UNC perform well a number of times this year, I thought -10 was too low but maybe this could actually be a game.

3:30 – LSU @ Alabama -7.5 [CBS]

A touchdown plus is a lot to cover if your offense is averaging 18 point per game in their last three times out. I really like ‘Bama, maybe the best in the country but it seems like a bad to cover these types of spreads against good teams.

3:30 – Ohio State @ Penn State -5 [ABC]

I bashed the Big Ten earlier but this one I am slightly interested in. The Nittany Lions have not had a challenge in about 2 months. Certainly you have to assume that Ohio State will be a challenge. I really like Penn State here. I have seen them start out some games slow only to pull out the victory. If they can avoid that, it’d be nice for my heart. Hey, they covered last week for me when things weren’t looking good at the half.

—————————————-

That’s about it. The night games aren’t all that interesting. There is USC @ Arizona State and Oklahoma @ Nebraska. Forget that noise, just head out for the night early.

It was announced this week that David Beckham made $17 million in endorsements while playing for the LA Galaxy this past year. It seems like a tremendous amount to pay an athlete who is in a sport that no American’s are watching.

I decided to look back and see what endorsements looked like 10 years ago.

In December of 1999 George Foreman signed a deal with a company called Salton. No one knew who Salton was but they were about to get the rights to the Foreman Grill. Foreman himself stood to make $137.5 million over five years as the spokesman. Little known fact; Salton wanted Hulk Hogan to originally but Hogan turned the idea down! Whoopsies!

In September of 2000 Tiger Woods signed a $100 million five year deal with Nike. Today, as we all know, Tiger has grown into the richest athlete this side of Mars. Prior to this deal Tiger had signed another 5 year deal with Nike in 1996 for $40 million. That $100 million back in 2000 was just the beginning. Nowadays Nike doesn’t like to disclose exactly how much moolah Woods is bringing in off of their deal.

Grant Hill was drafted by the Detroit Pistons with the third pick in the NBA Draft after graduating from Duke in 1994. FILA, like most others knew Hill was going to be the second coming of Michael Jordan. They jumped on the opportunity and signed Grant to a 7 year, $80 million deal. If you recall Hill was also a spokesperson for McDonald’s and Sprite back in the day.

You would think this $80 million deal is laughable after Hill unfortunately became injury plagued. However, Hill helped FILA jump from seventh to third in shoe market over this time. FILA has since been bought by a South Korean firm and has all but disappeared from the US market.

Around the same time a fresh-faced youngster from Georgetown University hit the NBA scene. His name; Allen Iverson. Reebok thought he would make a great spokesman. They signed him to a 10 year $50 million deal in 1996. About 5 years later, coming off the Sixers NBA Finals run, Reebok signed Iverson to a lifetime deal.

Those are four of the biggest deals going back 10 years ago. In general, they were all successful on some level– a somewhat surprising fact. Especially when looking at the Grant Hill deal on the surface.

As we approach Sunday, it can only mean one thing, another day of watching 9 hours of football, and loving every minute of it. It also means that deadlines to submit your picks in your pools is approaching (mine is midnight before the first game). As a recap, I am currently 8-0 from making safe and intelligent picks, and I am a tied with a few others as the leader of the pack. So here we go, recap and this weeks pick:

Week 1: Seattle Seahawks over the Saint Louis Rams. Seattle 28, Saint Louis 0.

Week 2: Washington Redskins over the Saint Louis Rams. Washington 9, Saint Louis 7.

Week 3: Philadelphia Eagles over the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia 34, Kansas City 14.

Week 4: Chicago Bears over the Detroit Lions. Chicago 48, Detroit 24.

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys over the Kansas City Chiefs. Dallas 26, Kansas City 20.

Week 6: Pittsburgh Steelers over the Cleveland Browns. Pittsburgh 27, Cleveland 14.

Week 7: San Diego Chargers over the Kansas City Chiefs. San Diego 37, Kansas City 7.

Week 8: Houston Texans over the Buffalo Bills. Houston 31, Buffalo 10.

Week 9: Atlanta Falcons over the Washington Redskins. (TBD)

So the Redskins are imploding on and off the field, the Falcons played right with the undefeated offensively stacked Saints last week, and the game is at the Georgia Dome. I wish I had more money to put on this game. ‘Nuff Said.

Now watch, the one game I am super-cocky about all season and Atlanta gets blown out… May have jinxed myself.

On a betting note, I am so far only liking the Atlanta (-10) against Washington, and I like, but feel its too good to be true, San Francisco (-4.5) against Tennessee. I am only putting money on the Atlanta game though.

*The survivor logo, tv show, etc. is property of CBS. Don’t sue us.*

Reed said, “No, I don’t. Next question. I don’t care for his tweets.”

Yesterday, Chad was on the radio today and said he sent gift baskets containing deodorant to the Ravens’ secondary and to linebackers Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis. Apparently he elaborated that he “not only sent them gift baskets, but I sent them something they could use so they don’t sweat.”

As you might have been able to tell from some previous posts I have made–I am a bit Ochocinco fan. However, I have been in the Ravens corner regarding this game (if you know what I mean) since early this week.

I have to say that, if anything, this only helps the Ravens out. Thus it helps me out. Not only do these shenanigans make me laugh but this time I might be laughin all the way to the bank. I haven’t met the man who would want to awaken Suggs, Lewis and company.

Should be a good one come Sunday.

I don’t know how it took so long but it finally came out. On October 30th at around 8 AM former Cy Young award winning pitcher Tim Lincecum was pulled over in his 2006 Benz for going 74 in a 60 just north of the Oregon border. Upon inspection of the car officers found 3.3 grams of marijuana.

Shocking. The 25-year old in this photo smokes a little pot?! No way.

I want to know why police decided to search Lincecum’s car. Either Tim was ripped out of his mind, the car reeked or Tim and company were stupid enough to have “evidence” in plain view. No Oregon cop is going to have Tim Lincecum step out of his car for doing 14 over the speed limit, unless there was something else sketchy going on.

Also odd is the fact that it took nearly a week for this to hit the news. I guess people aren’t swarming around Oregon looking for tabloid gossip. TMZ needs to set up some camera men near the Oregon border. Get on that!

The 3.3 grams is far below the minimum of 40 grams before possession is classified differently and would carry a more severe penalty. Thus, the charges against Lincecum are going to be misdemeanors for both the speeding and the possession. These charges are certainly not a big deal but this might be a wake-up call for Tim. You got to cover your ass better if you are a franchise player.

At the same time, I can’t believe Lincecum couldn’t get these officers to look the other way. The NBC affiliate in San Fran is saying that of the two officers on the scene one did recognize Tim’s last name. What the hell is the point of having the ability to throw a 100 MPH fastball if you can’t speed down Oregon roads high out of your mind?!
