By the way, did you know he is a lawyer who has NEVER practiced law? He won his seat in his last year of law school without EVER HAVING WORKED. It's a good thing his dad had a union job at SEATAC, which caused your airline tickets to cost more.

His work on the House Armed Services Committee DOES NOT support the troops, which his votes caused my unit to receive inadequate body armor, delayed receipt of replacement equipment destroyed in battle, and really screwed up the Post 9/11 GI Bill that has taken me nine months to get corrections to mine and still have not been done.

Still a Smith fan? Oh, and you are welcome for no more planes flying into our buildings. We still went into harm's way without his support.

Smith wrote me a reply letter regarding his position on repeal of the Uniformed Services Former Spouses Protection Act, the act that allows judges to award a portion if not all of a retired servicemember's disposable military retired pay to their ex-spouse. He is on the House Armed Services Committee, and his signed letter to me specifically states he is opposed to repealing it. Really?! On the Armed Services Committee, and supports a judge awarding a portion of my retainer pay (military retired pay is statutory retainer pay, not deffered compensation like pensions are-there are no "employee" contributions taht can be cashed out). Further, the Act allows for the awarding of Former Spouse Survivor Benefit Plan coverage to an ex at a cost of 8% of the gross retirement pay entitlement.

He says he is for the troops, but not in that letter he isn't, because he is a Democrat, and they believe in redistribution of wealth. I was married for 5 years, and must now pay my ex 13.4% of my disposable military retired pay he rest of my life, and I am only 38!! If not for the fact that I am 30% disabled, I would lose more than $245.70 a month out of a $1,515 retirment, or 16.2%, but instead would have lost $308.95--20.4% (VA disability pay is non-divisible by federal law).

Now, how great do you think Smith is? He supports taking my money that I went to war for our Nation FOUR times to earn. If he supports taking that from me, what does he want to take from YOU??

Great ad! Heck has not only been trying to distance himself from the national Dems, he's been trying to avoid any mention of what his record was during his decade in Olympia. It rates one line in the WA voter pamphlet, but not a word about what he actually stood for while he was there. Now he's all about "creating jobs" and "tax credits for small businesses". Heck has a lot of new convictions that don't match his old record.

Dick Muri's campaign should drive a truck around with signs denouncing Adam Smith. Take the argument directly to the people on the streets and highways-like a driving billboard. Get the voters to think twice about voting for Adam "Pelosi" Smith.

Please tell me I was tired and cranky. But, Rossi didn't seem to be prepared. He didn't seem to have answers except to talk about what he did in the state seven years ago. I'm sure his history has opened doors & people have paid tons of money to hear him speak, but does he really think that will win him a US Senate seat? He seemed out of touch, unaware, disinterested, nervous and unable to answer. He has never had specifics, doesn't he know he will be expected to contribute when/if he gets to DC? I was very disappointed. He didn't have to run, we had better candidates. Since he did run, he needs to serve the state and the party the way he promised he would-that's hard work, not just making speeches and taking bows with the fans.

It's fairly obvious who won this debate, and it surely wasn't Senator Murray. Even though I am a liberal, it's time for a change. Senator Murray's earmark spending for former aides on her staff is quite a story, one that doesn't get much press, and Rossi didn't even bring that up.Dino Rossi just seems to hold things together a little better in my opinion, and he's going to get this vote. I am not going to vote along party lines this time. Good luck to you Dino Rossi.

Comment on LD25: Hans Zeiger Takes to the Airwaves by Cliff

In his ad, Mr. Zeiger wraps himself in K-12 education.

In his writings, he has scorned public education. For example:

"I spent most of my K-12 education at my local government indoctrination center. I was also home schooled during the seventh and eighth grades. The corridors and classrooms of the modern public school are so polluted with the filth of moral relativism that the typical public high school graduate moves into the world devoid of character, conscience, or courage."

-Hans Zeiger, A Defense of Home Schooling (October 20, 2003)

"The public schools have demonstrated their general abhorrence of traditional American values. The abuse of ordered liberty that occurs on a daily basis in America's public schools is of such greater proportion than the few home-schooling disasters highlighted on CBS that I would go so far as to recommend that parents not place their children in a public school at all."

-Hans Zeiger, A Defense of Home Schooling (October 20, 2003)

"Government-schooling is corrupt, atheistic, and incompatible with the preservation of a free society."

-Hans Zeiger, Committed Parents Outdo State-Run Schools (October 3, 2003)

"Having been a part of both the home-school movement and the public-school morass, I would now go so far as to recommend that parents not place their children in a public school at all."

-Hans Zeiger, There's No Place Like Home (October 25, 2003)

"Our public schools have assaulted the Christian faith time and again, and the present hyper-glorification of Islam only exacerbates the confusion to which young students are now subjected. We must decide, with finality, whether we will be a people reflective of our Christian heritage in ordered liberty, or whether we will deepen our wounds already inflicted by the poisonous doctrines of multiculturalism and moral relativism."
