Each year from October 17th to 25th, Dutch Design Week is organized by Design Platform Eindhoven (DPE). DPE is a professional organization that, supported by the Eindhoven Design community, seeks to develop a stimulating and dynamic design climate in all cultural, social and economic domains in the region of Eindhoven. To that end, DPE organizes events, conferences, lectures and workshops based on three major dimensions: cultural stimulation, social cohesion and economic enhancement.

It is DPEs objective to further improve the cultural, economic and professional climate of design in the Eindhoven region and to position Eindhoven nationally and internationally as Design Capital.At the moment Eindhoven and Helsinki are the only two cities left, awaiting to be honoured as World Design Capitol 2012.

Design Platform Eindhoven includes representatives of the Design Academy Eindhoven, the Faculty Industrial Design of the Technical University Eindhoven, TNO Industrie, Philips Design, Association of Dutch Designers (BNO), MKB Eindhoven, Municipality of Eindhoven PSV NV, Rabobank Nederland, Van Berlo’s Studio’s and partners from the Eindhoven design community.

Facebook is one of the largest social online network in the world with more than 300 million registered users. Their new headquarters for 700 people located in Palo Alto California, was designed by San Francisco based firm Studio O+A. The space is very similar to the virtual network: People in separate rooms all connected, different colors for different departments and unfinished walls for employers to draw and write their ideas. Facebook also received ideas via web from users and employers who practically designed themselves every single detail of the space.

La BCN Design Week, organizada por BCD Barcelona Centro de Diseño, es un congreso internacional eminentemente empresarial enmarcado en el ámbito del diseño que se dirige a empresas y profesionales de cualquier sector productivo o de servicios, que tengan como motor de actividad el conocimiento y la creatividad.

The BCN Design Week, organized yearly by BCD Barcelona Design Centre, is an international business focused congress framed in the field of design and aimed at those companies and professionals in any industry or productive services that use knowledge and creativity as a driver of its business activity.

The various events and activities included within the BCN Design Week offer the attendees the opportunity to learn, share and delve into varied design related topics, in order to promote Barcelona as a city of creativity, design and knowledge, strengthening the relationship between business and design and fostering greater understanding and awareness of design and its strategic value.

El objetivo del Vienna Design Week es mostrar y permitir que las personas experimenten trabajo creativo en los campos de diseño de producto, mobiliario y diseño industrial así como en nuevos campos del diseño como el experimental. Después de dos exitosas versiones en 2007 y 2008, este año de octubre 1 al 11 de 2009, una exquisita y colorida programación de eventos estarán esperando a los visitantes. El diseño ha sido un importante elemento en el desarrollo de la cultura: moldea nuestra materia cultural, nuestra vida diaria y nuestro mundo de consumo, influye en nuestro estilo de vida y moda y más fundamentalmente nuestro sentido de la estética y nuestro juicio. Este amplio impacto es una razón para celebrar el diseño y para examinarlo críticamente, y el Vienna Design Week ha hecho de estas dos actividades su misión.

En colaboración con muchos involucrados desde museos en Vienna a compañías de producción y diseñadores de todo el mundo, toda la ciudad se convertirá en una plataforma y exhibición de diseño. Vienna Design Week no tiene el carácter de una feria comercial, en cambio ofrece múltiples escenarios y eventos que son específicos para Vienna. The aim of Vienna Design Week is to show and enable people to experience the many-faceted creative work in the fields of product, furniture and industrial design, but also positions of experimental design. After two successful festivals in 2007 and 2008, also this year from October 1 to 11 2009,, an exquisite and colourful programme of events will be awaiting the visitors. Design has been and is an important field in the production of culture: it shapes our material culture, our everyday life and our consumer world, it influences our lifestyles and fashions and most fundamentally our aesthetic sense and judgements. This wide-ranging impact is a reason both to celebrate design and to examine it critically, and VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has made both of these its mission.

In cooperation with many partners – from Vienna museums to production and retail companies to designers from all over the world – the whole of Vienna becomes a platform and showplace of design. Vienna Design Week doesn’t have the character of a trade fair but instead offers a variety of venues and approaches specific to Vienna. The festival sets out to be “international but localised”, with an abiding interest to cooperate with the flourishing design scenes of Central and Eastern Europe, and certainly beyond. Bringing to Vienna an important international design show every October is another example of the long-due international exchange Vienna Design Week is stimulating.

La Asociación de Diseñadores de la Comunidad Valenciana (ADCV) ha creado la Valencia Disseny Week (VDW), que tendrá lugar del 21 al 26 de Septiembre de 2009. Un evento de eventos, cuyo objetivo es la promoción del diseño.

Desde la Valencia Disseny Week (VDW-ADCV) animamos, damos soporte, difundimos y agrupamos todas las iniciativas relacionadas con el diseño que se organicen en la ciudad de Valencia paralelamente a Ideas&Pasión Feria Hábitat Valencia. Eventos organizados por agentes públicos y privados, showrooms, presentaciones, exposiciones, jóvenes diseñadores, fiestas, premios, charlas, talleres, etc.

La ADCV ha organizado una serie de actividades que se sumarán al conjunto de eventos de la semana. La intención para este año es crear una estructura sólida que nos permita mejorar la VDW año tras año.

The Association of Designers of the Region of Valencia (ADCV) has created Valencia Disseny Week (VDW), which will take place from 21 to 26 September 2009. An event of events, with the purpose of promoting design.

In Valencia Disseny Week (VDW-ADCV) we encourage, support, publicise and bring together all the design-related initiatives organised in the city of Valencia parallel to the design trade fair “Feria del Hábitat Ideas y Pasión”. Events organised by public and private bodies, showrooms, presentations, exhibitions,young designers, parties, awards, round tables, workshops, etc.

The ADCV has organised a series of activities which will form part of the week’s events. Our aim for this year is to create a solid structure enabling us to improve VDW year after year.

El London Design Festival que se lleva a cabo del 19 al 27 de septiembre de 2009, es el primer evento de diseño en el Reino Unido y refleja el status que tiene Londres como epicentro creativo. Está conformado por la mayor cantidad posible de disciplinas y áreas todas presentes en la ciudad. Estas nuevas ideas y actividades hacen que el Festival sea dinámico, diferente y muy Londinense. The London Design Festival taking place from September 19th to the 27th 2009, is the UK’s biggest annual celebration of design and reflects London’s status as the world creative hub. It is made up of the widest possible range of design disciplines, all of who prosper in the city. These new ideas and activities make each Festival dynamic, different and uniquely London. Supported by government, the design sector, and leading businesses, the Festival offers a platform for the best design talent.

The Festival inspires and engages. In particular, it supports emerging talent that reflects London’s diverse influences. Helsinki Design Week es el evento de diseño más grande de Finlandia. Organizado por quinta vez, HDW se lleva a cabo del 4 al 13 de septiembre de 2009 y ofrece talleres, seminarios, exhibiciones, desfiles, instalaciones, oportunidades de compra, visitas a estudios y espacios privados así como actividades nocturnas.

“Desafíos para la mente, expresiones y acción”, este año Helsinki Design Week muestra a los diseñadores trabajando y presenta los procesos detrás del diseño. “Do Touch!”, el tema de este año está plasmado en todo el evento y reta a los visitantes a familiarizarse con y hagan parte activa del mundo del diseño.

Helsinki Design Week is the largest design event in Finland. Produced for the fifth time, HDW will take place from September 4th to the 13 2009, and offers gripping workshops, seminars, exhibitions, workshops, fashion shows, installations, shopping opportunities, open-door visits to studios and closed-for-public spaces, as well as mingling by night.

ExperimentaDesign EXD, es una bienal internacional dedicada al diseño, arquitectura y creatividad. Posicionándose como una plataforma dinámica y arrojada, EXD promueve la cultura contemporánea a través de la discusión y de la reflexión. ExperimentaDesign EXD, is the international Biennale dedicated to design, architecture and creativity. Positioning itself as a forward-thinking, dynamic platform, EXD fosters and analyzes contemporary culture through discussion and reflection. It is a springboard for up-and-coming talent and experimentation in disciplines across the creative spectrum, showcasing original projects and ideas in different formats, from exhibitions to urban interventions, debates and lectures. With a focus on people and ideas, the Biennale’s programme is designed to provide insight and incentive both to a specialized audience and the public at large, disseminating information and fuelling debate.
