This past weekend was the annual Wiener Nationals dachshund races at Golden Gate Fields! This is one of my favorite dog events every year – hundreds of dachshunds come out to race for a $1000 jackpot in 10 heats, divided by weight class. The dogs race between horse races and each team of 2 humans a 1 dog wears matching unforms. So cute!

This past weekend marked San Francisco SPCA’s 9th annual Dog Day on the Bay event! This is the third year I photographed this fun cruise around the bay – and there is definitely no other event like it!

…This post is not photography related but it is very near and dear to my heart. My friend Kyle Smitley has taken on the challenge of opening a brand new charter school in the city of Detroit.  That’s right, a CHARTER SCHOOL in Detroit. WOW.

This isn’t just any old school – it’s a school that will introduce a new style of experience-based learning to inner city kids in addition to providing them with 3 balanced meals a day, grown from the school garden.  Doesn’t it sound too good to be true?  It really is… happening!!

So something you may not know about me is that in addition to being a photographer, I am also a graphic and web designer. My contribution to this project is that I had the honor of designing the logo for Detroit Achievement Academy, woo hoo!

The impact this school will make on the city of Detroit is HUGE.  The school is set to open this fall however the state of Michigan won’t send the $$$ until November… so DAA has started an online campaign to raise funds to cover operational expenses for the first couple of months.

This past weekend was Molly Mutt‘s Earth Day Sale at their warehouse in Berkeley. It was super fun and I set up shop with my little pop-up studio.

The event supported our friends at Berkeley Humane Society and we had a bunch of human and canine visitors. Harley and I even jumped in on the fun!

GREAT NEWS!! I am thrilled to announce that we have WON Best Pet Photographer in Baywoof’s 2013 Beast of the Bay Awards! This is so exciting, it is the first time we have won this award, and I am so grateful for all of your support. THANK YOU to everyone who voted, I really appreciate it!

This past weekend was the 2013 Wag Hotels‘ Doggie Easter Egg Hunt at Golden Gate Park. This fun event helped support Friends of Animal Care and Control. I was there snapping photos of guests, the egg hunt and dogs with the Easter bunny!
