I am not going to ask you to change your opinion...but...I will say a few things in regards to "town against town."

The Bentley Generals DO have some local players on their roster. Actually, several, as Ive mentioned before in this thread. Bentley is a TINY community which, up until a few years ago, was still at village status in Alberta.

I grew up there, went to school there and the Bentley Arena is where I learned to play hockey. Up until Pee-Wee...I played all my minor hockey there.

Once we got old enough for contact hockey...some kids dropped out and we started combining with nearby towns to put teams together and thats the way its been for about 20 years.

Before Sylvan Lake came into the Chinook League, the Bentley Generals used to hold some practices & games in Sylvan. They also played in Rimbey, Penhold and Lacombe. Although Bentley is their "first" hometown...these others towns make vital contributions to the team and the Red Deer connection is well documented already as well.

Do we mind "sharing" the team? Nope! Its part of what makes it so succesful and the passion for the team is (IMO) bigger and better than any other team in the nation!

My take is they were over-hyped. They came here as a team talked about as a favorite to win it all, comprised of players from three or four different teams, the best players in the league if you will and had players from nfld, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario and who knows where else. They got to the final and couldn't score a goal. They choked. Someone at the tournament said they didn't win the nfld league championship and in the finals got swept. In other words they choked twice in two months. They should take some comfort in the fact that that must be some kind of record. Two months - Two chokes.

I agree Cannonball this was a respectful conversation between a few fans from two teams. Then this guy comes on and puts everything back to the way this site generally is. Atta fire there General.

And as for them choking I wouldn't call it that, the Bous lost to a HOT CBN team in their league, who just beat a great Cats team. This "Bous" team that you call made up of 4 teams, well it is. But they left some great talent home. (Gill, Gallent, Whiffen, The other Delaney, Dalton),and many more. They lost to a experienced Generals team, which you let it well known it was just another day, so choke ahhh I think not. They just lost. And don't even start with the Generals team being all from Alberta, lets talk about the population difference come on.

As for 2015 you know the Bous will be stacked players will go there to play, just to play the Allen Cup.

I heard today that Shane applied to coach the AAA Midget Icepak this season so did the Cats get Casey back as Coach or someon else? Do the Cats have any new players line up for this season. It would be great if they could win the Herder or if Clarenville even wins the Herder and they are runners up then they will get a chance to play in the Allan Cup in Clarenville in 2015.
