Nice ideas/uses for those tools that you came up with. As for myself; I added a bunch of the major ad services to my hosts file. Plus Spybot - Search & Destroy adds a ton of malware domains to the list. My hosts file is huge. Nuke Anything Enhanced sometimes works for removing those annoying overlays - just right-click and select "remove object" or "remove selection".

@CJ: If you use Classic ASP on your website this will work. Just make sure the code is placed on all your pages (like a common include file). If you use PHP then there are numerous other options.

I have been trying to get my web host to do a redirect for a www.puffpeople.org to puffpeople.org but they say they are trying to find out how to do all the web sites they host. Will this work just for my site?

I was looking for something like this for a while. Sometimes I'd just use Firebug to hide stuff, but the changes wouldn't be permanent so I'd always get annoyed by stuff like the Imeem sign up popup. I keep forgetting my pass for that site and I just want to listen to that particular song so no harm done, right?

Nice clear defintion of Specificty, which sure comes in handy when working on a CMS. I work within SharePoint at the moment and this understanding is paramont in esnuring your CSS sclaes and works effectivly over the dirty base styles.

Great post on Specificity, Something i often neglect. If you code with a well refined hierarchy you rarely come across andy problems. Though when working with files greater than a 1000 lines that is definitely where the importance of it comes into play. "Important" can get you out of some fixes it has saved me a few times in the past, though admittedly these days I would avoid it as much as possible! p.s. #header h2 =102(is this a typo) shouldn't it be 101?
