New Look Media is proud to announce that we are a founding company of the Oklahoma City Coworking Collaborative (okcCoCo). Our new office is located at 723 N. Hudson Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73102.

I had the opportunity to speak at the November Refresh OKC meeting. My presentation was titled “Tags and Geocoding” and it lasted about 50 minutes. I covered how to implement a tagging system on your website as well as the basics of geo tagging and how to use the Google API to view your geo tag location.

Heart and Sole

On Monday, I was on site at Norman Regional Hospital for the Heart and Sole Celebration. The 6-week walking program came to a close on October 29, 2006 and on Monday the hospital recognized individual achievements and gave out some great prizes.

Internet Explorer 7 Released

This week, Microsoft officially released version 7 of Internet Explorer. IE hasn’t been updated since 2001 and in recent years, Microsoft has seen a growing percentage of its user switching to modern browsers like Firefox.

On Friday and Saturday, CoffeeCup Software hosted the first annual Webmaster Jam Session in Dallas, TX. The event started with a keynote speech, "A Decade of Style", by CSS and HTML expert Eric Meyer. This was a nice start to an event that was packed with a wide variety of topics and information from some of the most knowledgeable people in our industry.

Startups Getting Millions in Funding

Just recently, I wrote about testing some of the startups that have launched Beta versions of their product or service. It's great to see innovation and even better to be involved with web development during this time.

If you work in the web industry you've probably noticed the millions of dollars that are being thrown at some of the new startups. Is this good? Is it bad? I'm not sure but I find it interesting to say the least.

Computer Spyware Protection Act

House Bill 2083, by State Representative Guy Liebmann (R-Oklahoma City) will allow the state attorney general, Internet service providers or software companies to bring civil action against organizations and individuals that deceitfully install spyware or malware onto computers.

Sounds good, right? There's a catch. The bill would give software companies and your ISP access to all of the data stored on your computer or network.

Frameworx Pix E-Commerce Site

In late January we launched an all-new e-commerce website for Frameworx Pix The site uses our e-commerce application to handle thousands of photos. To date, there are over 45,000 photos available for sale on the site and they have all been uploaded and managed through a custom CMS that we engineered for Frameworx.

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview

The new version of Internet Explorer was recently released to the public. The Beta 2 Public Preview moves towards being a more standards-compliant browser. Whether all of the previous bugs are fixed by the time it's out of Beta is yet to be seen.
