In this series we’ve explored how we all pursue purpose, identity, success, and contentment and how a simple shift in perspective might change our direction. We all look at the circumstances of our life and make decisions based on how we believe life operates. Are the events of our lives in our control and determined by coincidence or is there a God providentially ordering and directing us? In this last week Stephen will look at the first chapter of Philippians to see how Paul’s experience caused him to shift his perspective on the circumstances of his life. Join us Sunday, November 15th at 6pm at Hope Community Church (1801 S. Logan St.) as we examine another shift from the Apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians.

In this series we will be exploring how we all pursue purpose, identity, success, and contentment and how a simple shift in perspective might change our direction. Norton will be teaching this week on Identity Theft, and Danny Oertli and the band will be leading us musically again. We will meet on Sunday, October 18th at 6pm at Hope Community Church (1801 S.
Also, don’t forget about our Waumba Land environment for preschoolers and UpStreet environment for elementary-age kids. Both of these environments take place during adult worship services, and our host team will direct you on how to get your kids checked in when you arrive.

We hope that you’ll join us, and please feel free to invite friends in whom you’ve been investing or anyone who you think would like to join us as well. To make the process of inviting others easier, we’ve put a page on our website called New to New Denver that outlines what to expect when you come to our services. We hope this will be helpful, and if you have any other questions, as always please feel free to email us.

This weekend, I’m teaching on what it means to connect with an invisible God. Bottom line: Intimacy requires intentionality.

1. Decide if God is a priority. If he is, then, 2. Discover your style of connecting to him (scripture, prayer, and what?). And 3. Do something! Establish a routine (time and place) and experiment with different methods.

Following are a few resources to pursue this further:
Beginner resources:
1. The Life You’ve Always Wanted, by John Ortberg
2. Reaching for the Invisible God, by Philip Yancey
3. Sacred Pathways, by Gary L. Thomas.

Advanced resources:
1. Handbook to Prayer, by Ken Boa.
2. Living the Christian Year, by Bobby Gross
3. A great series of blog posts on spiritual disciplines…
4. A teaching series on spiritual disciplines…

Enjoy and let us know how you apply this!
