David Suchet to Voice Aslan Again

David Suchet has been cast as the voice of Aslan in Rupert Goold’s upcoming stage production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Suchet voiced Aslan in Focus on the Family’s Narnia radio dramas (1999-2002).

“The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is an iconic story and C S Lewis was an extraordinary writer. He was just magical. To be asked to do the voice of one of the most famous literary animals is a great honour.”

Will Moseley on the Set of ‘The Selection’

A couple months ago, Will Moseley was cast in the TV adaptation of ‘The Selection,’ based on the book of the same name by Kiera Cass.

Yesterday, Gymfan15 sent me some pictures she found online of Will hanging out on set. To say we almost didn’t recognize him would be an exaggeration, but Will has grown up a good deal since his Narnia days. Check out the pictures on Zimbio here.

Director Announced for ‘The Lion Awakes’

According to the film’s official Facebook page, Adrian Vitoria has officially been chosen to direct The Lion Awakes, an upcoming film on the relationship between C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Rosie Fellner has also been added as a Producer. They still intend to “bring this film to the big screen next year.” Check out a new poster here.

Extended Cut of ‘Prince Caspian’ on ABC Family?

Ten deleted scenes were included as bonus material on the Prince Caspian DVD/Blu-ray. Now, it appears that some of those scenes have been inserted back into the film for television. We received this report from Wolfloversk:

I was watching Prince Caspian on ABC Family today… and it appeared to be some sort of extended cut. They added in a few of the deleted scenes, and I believe (though I’m not positive) a few of the shots were elongated. There was however no additional shots requiring CGI…

I watched it at 10:30am-1:30pm EST [on Sunday March 11]. Some scenes they included were the sandwich conversation in the apple orchard, an extension of the scene in which the Pensevies entered the Treasure Chamber, and the deleted scene where Peter and Susan storm into the Nursery.

Deleted scenes that remained omitted included the dying dryad scene, the archery training scene, and the Picking of Glenstorm and the Bulgey Bear before the dual.

It appears that the official website for the Chronicles of Narnia films was taken down sometime in the last few days. “Narnia.com” now redirects to a Facebook page. Thanks to ‘Bulgy Bear’ for the alert.

Jeffrey Perry Dies at 63

It is with great sadness that we report that Jeffrey Perry, who played Tumnus in BBC’s 1988 television adaptation of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” has passed away at the age of 63. A Doctor, A Wardrobe, and a TV Special

Narnia fans are in for a treat this Christmas season! The one and only time lord, the Doctor, is taking a trip this Christmas and there are police boxes… I mean wardrobes, a snowy forest, and a large old house involved. The trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special has hit the web via YouTube and it holds many a familiar reference for Narnia fans. There is no release date on the trailer, but tune in sometime this Christmas for “The Doctor, the Widow, and the Wardrobe!”
