This senior software engineer will be working on Software Communications Architecture (SCA) Satellite Communication (SATCOM) programs for development of state-of-the-art communications systems and implementing embedded software communications protocols in products for the U.S military. This position will include requirements definition, detailed design, implementing software, unit test and integration.

The candidate is required to have excellent communications skills to communicate technical issues and status in both written and oral form. The candidate must be adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborate with teammates in order to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Experience in C++ and object-oriented analysis and design is required. Working knowledge with C++ templates, UML modeling tools, design patterns and CORBA is also desired. Experience or familiarity with radio communications systems, open software architecture frameworks like Software Communications Architecture (SCA) or Software Defined Radio (SDR), and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) for Power PC are desired but not required.

The ideal candidate will also have direct experience implementing embedded real-time military communications software and a knowledge of the implementation of communications systems, and also be familiar with standard software development practices and be willing to adapt them to Rockwell Collins software development processes.

Applicant must be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have an active secret security clearance.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in applicable engineering or science field, and six years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor’s degree, twelve years of related experience.
