New Town

My husband just got a job transfer to another city, and so it looks like we are going to be moving this summer. I am actually happy about it because it will mean a raise for him (which of course we could use!), and it is a good time for the kids to move. They are still young enough where I don’t think a move will be too hard on them. I’m glad we will be moving over the summer, so they will be able to finish out the school year here, and start fresh at a new school in the fall. I’m supposed to be online researching the laurel internet providers, but I keep getting lost on other sites about the town. It looks like it is going to be a great place for our family. There are lots of family and kid oriented things to do, and it seems like it is a friendly town. I am looking forward to getting there, and just beginning to build our new life in our new town. Moves are exciting!

Land For Sale

There are two schools nearby, shopping center, train station, public bus, childcare & kindergarten center, and many more. I always wish for just a simple home next to everything.

Buying a house is not the easy task to do. I am not expert of this one but i am sure one thing in mine is the location needs to be safe. I remember when we are living in an apartment we did not check the situation in the area but we almost have a theft climbing there next to the window. Good enough we closed tight the windows and doors if not we are rub. Anyway, what i wanna say is that if you really want to buy a house you need to be there and see it for yourself. Foods Many Foods

They are the foods during our New Year's eve at my friends place. There are many Filipino who are attended the party with some Americans. I am glad we went there and met more friends. I am hoping we can attend a party again since i miss being with many friends. Just wanted to share today.

Comedy Central

My husband does not watch a lot of tv, but when he does he is always watching Comedy Central. He will watch this channel for hours laughing out loud, even when he is by himself. He loves watching Tosh.O. He says that watching this show helps him unwind from his day and for some reason he gets a kick out of laughing at other people’s expense when it is on tv. He also loves watching standup comedy. He loves watching Jeff Dunham, Lewis Black, and Billy Gardell. I can be all the way upstairs and I will hear him laughing at these comedians when he is downstairs. We recently switched to DirectTV, but before we did my husband had to make sure that we were going to get Comedy Central. He researcheddirect tv Henrietta to find a list of channels. He was so happy to find out that Comedy Central was included in our package. I guess I get to keep listening to him laugh out loud. I am glad to see that he is so easily amused.

Christmas Party Foods

Do you enjoy last Christmas eve? Well, we are invited to attend the Filipino Christmas party in which the host was just a block away from the house. I make a maja blanca to bring and i am happy to see that many Filipino foods was there. I miss many Filipino foods so when i saw them in that table there i eat most of them specially the biko, suman, maja, and the chicken adobo. I miss my family in Pinas during Christmas and my brother said that my mama prepared biko, puto maya, and many other foods. This coming New Year's eve we are going to another Filipino party. Maja Blanca With Corn Kernel

Last Friday afternoon i make a maja blanca with corn kernel. I promise that i will bring a dessert into a Saturday night Christmas party. They like the dessert that i make and some brought home. I like the dessert i make also. Anyway, if you want to try the recipe just follow it.

Ingredients:

2 cups coconut milk
1 370 ml. can evaporated milk
1 cup cornstarch
1 cup sugar
1 1/3 cups whole corn kernel
3/4 cup nuts optional

Procedure:

1. Combine all ingredients in a pan and stir until free of lumps. Cook stirring constantly over low heat until thick (about 30 min.).
2. Pour into molders. Cool, then refrigerate until ready to serve.

It has been a while since i did not buy something for myself. I always buy things for my kids and husband but nothing for me so this Christmas one of things in my wishlist is this iPad. I already found many stores that sell the iPad but cannot afford it yet. I still need save some more money and even better finding some discount coupons to lower the price. I noticed that there are many Apple products on sale. Maybe i need either the Apple Store discount coupons, the Best Buy coupons, or in Newegg Promo codes.

Cheap Car Insurance

If you live in USA you know already why you need to have a driver's license. There are big cities you do not need to drive since there are buses, trains, and taxis to ride but if you live in a small city or in a country side then a driver's license is a must. You do not have the means of transportation if you will not drive. I came from a country that you do not need to have a driver's license because there are many jeepneys, buses, tricycles, and other means of transportation. But now that i am here in USA i need to have a driver's license. This month i start driving and i am little confident of driving since hubby teach me how to drive.

Driving is fun if you already conquer your fear. I feel nervous sometimes but that is just in the beginning of driving but after few minutes i feel relax and have fun driving. I am hoping that this month or next month i will have my driver's license. So what i need to do first is to find a Cheap Car Insurance company that i can trust. Hubby got his in a good company at first he did not like it but now he is starting to like it. Insurance companies are very competitive. Momgen's Vegetable Egg Roll

Cooking is fun specially a healthy foods. The vegetable egg roll above is not really 100% healthy since i cook it with lots of oil but inside all healthy. Some people they will put meat inside the egg roll but if i cook it no meat at all. Here are the vegetables that i put inside the egg roll. Carrots, green beans, celery, and bean sprout with cheese. I cut the carrots, celery, and cheese by strips. Wrap it with egg roll wrapper or the lumpia wrapper. Then heat your skillet with oil and fry your egg roll....This is one of hubby's favorite Filipino foods....

It is nice to live in a place you call it home. For many years of living in NC i feel very happy and enjoyed the nice neighborhood but sometimes you can think of something like what if you will move to a different place? Do you know what is a PCB or a printed circuit board? According to what i know this is a kind of circuit that will help the connection of the electronic device like your cellphone, computer, radio, cassette, TV, and many other electronics out there. This flexible PCB is really amazing thing to help a certain connection runs smoothly. I never know this before but now i understand what this means.

Our world runs with new technologies that makes us aware of our surroundings. High technologies just like the Printed Circuit board is really a great help to our society. There are two types of flexible PCB that i know they are flex-rigid and the single & double-sided PCB. This is a huge thing for me to know since i am not an expert of our new technologies. Delicious Turkey Dinner

Last Thanksgiving day hubby cook our foods and they all delicious including the turkey above. It was so yummy that i ate a bunch of it. I am just thankful that i have husband that was a good cook. I only help him preparing but for the cooking he was the expert. We have a good time together with our two kids Chris and Nathan. Some friends invited us to their Thanksgiving meal but my baby got a high fever so i cannot go. But i am thankful for all the blessings that God bestowed upon us. There has always been an inverse relationship between the confidence that people have in the global economy and the value of gold. Gold is perceived as a hedge against currency instability and economic fear. The more the economy slides, the higher the price of gold goes.

Most people are less concerned with diversifying their portfolio than they are interested in selling their old gold jewelry for a boatload of cash. However, most people have enough sense to realize that the owner of the 24-hour check cashing and payday loan emporium who recently started paying “CASH 4 GOLD” may not be the most dependable member of the local business community. Protecting yourself involves understanding a few important aspects of the cash for gold market.

How is Your Gold Being Measured?

The system in place for dealing with precious metals is confusing and easy to game. For starters, gold is measured using the Troy ounce, which, unlike its more recognized cousin, the standard ounce (28 grams), is actually equal to 31.1 grams. Additionally, when it comes time to actually weigh the gold in store, many buyers will use a system of pennyweights, which are actually each equal to 1.555 standard grams, or, 20 pennyweights per Troy ounce.

Basically, this system allows the buyer to make several conversions during the purchasing process, each of which presents an opportunity to “steal” from the seller. If the buyer tells you that you have an “ounce” of gold when they actually mean a Troy ounce, then quote you a price based on grams, they have already stolen 3.1 grams of gold from you. If they then take it a step further and measure the gold using pennyweights while claiming to be using grams, then you could be receiving as little as half of the actual market value for your gold.

Even if you don’t fully understand how you are being ripped off, a little bit of knowledge goes a long way. If you just slip pennyweight and Troy ounce into the conversation most dishonest dealers will be paranoid enough that you know what you are talking about to give you an honest deal anyway.

Not all Gold is Created Equal

Jewelry dealers or gold buyers are under absolutely no obligation to tell you that the “crappy old necklace” you got from your grandma when you were a kid is actually a rare piece from the obscure first collection of a popular 18th century designer. While telling your grandma you need to know where the necklace came from because you want to sell it isn’t generally an option, it does pay to do at least a little bit of research.

Being broke, especially around the holidays, feels rotten. But unless you’re a starving college student, most of the time it pays to slow down, shop around and look for the best deal. Besides, you never know when your grandma is going to want you to wear her necklace to Christmas dinner.

Blueberry Cobbler

At the first time i was able to make a blueberry cobbler last two weeks ago. Also i make the second time and every time i did it the taste getting better. Hubby told me that i need to put more apple juice in there to make the taste better. Oh well, it was my first time and you cannot blame me for making it not so better heheh. Anyway, i will make again soon and this time i will put the whole apple juice :).

Losing Weight After Christmas

Christmas is almost here and I know everyone is busy preparing the list of their groceries and gifts. Christmas is a time where we have fun together with our family and close friends, foods and drinks are overflowing for sure that is why all of us are gaining weight after the holiday.

Eating is fun but when we see ourselves gaining too much weight, we can't help but get afraid especially when we are feeling unhealthy. High blood, muscles cramps and the like are those that we feel when we are over weight. There is nothing to worry about since lots of diet pills are now out in market. African Mango is a good example, it is an appetite suppressant that helps you lose weight if taken with proper exercise.

missing chairs

After the direct.tv installers stopped by this morning to install our upgraded television package, I headed to work. When I got there I was surprised that no one had called me to tell me about our missing office furniture. We just completely re did the labs that we work. They literally had not been updated ( except for computers of course) since the nineteen seventies. We spent just shy of twenty thousand dollars redoing everything. That price included a lot of new office furniture and repainting the rooms. Two of our nice chairs were missing. I was just so upset. We work in a ten story building. I spent the rest of the entire day trying to hunt down the two chairs that were missing. I sent out e-mails and pictures. I went from door to door in the building asking everyone that I could find if they had seen our black leather chairs. Unfortunately, I couldn’t turn the chairs up. I guess that we are going to have to file a report and order some more!

FTF - Bistek

Well, i want to share a food that most of the Filipinos like. But i warn you this is a little sour and hubby likes it and told me that i do not need to change the recipe. Oh well, i will cook the food maybe next week. So here is the recipe of Bistek...

Ingredients:

3 medium size lemon (you can cut to 2 lemons if you do not want sour)

1 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce

1/4 tsp. black pepper

1/2 kilo beef top round, sliced thinly across the grain

vegetable oil spray

1/2 cup sliced onions

Procedures:

1. Combine the juice of the lemon with soy sauce and pepper. Marinate the beef in this mixture for 30 minutes to an hour depending on how thick and cut of the beef.

2. Heat a non-stick pan and spray twice with vegetable oil. Cook the sliced onions until soft. Set aside.

3. Cook the beef in the oil until done. Pour marinade over the beef and shimmer until the sauce thickens. Add the onions and serve hot.

Carrot Cake With Pineapple And Coconut

It was my first time baking in the new conventional oven toaster that hubby bought for me and it turn out fantastic. I tried the Carrot cake with pineapple and coconut and the result was the picture above. Hubby love it even my son Chris. Each of us eat two slices and we love it. Chris brought some for his lunch in school. Anyway, if you want to try here is the recipe. I found this online but i modify the ingredients since i do not like to eat very sweet too much oil and salty. Enjoy! Linking to Mellow Yellow Monday.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup vegetable oil

3/4 cup sugar

10 oz. pineapple chunk and crush it put some of the juice for flavoring

2 carrots shredded

2 1/4 cups wheat flour

2 coconut flakes

1 cup walnuts

2 teaspoon cinnamon

2 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

How it works:

Mix in a large bowl all the ingredients and put it on a greasy 9x3 pan. Bake it for 50 minutes at 400 degrees. You can chose to put a topping or not. If you want a topping you can put frost with cream cheese frosting.

Cherry Pie

Last week when we have a potluck in our church I tried this cherry pie and it was so good. I only tried very little since it was so sweet dessert. Cherry Pie Recipe

1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

4 tablespoons quick-cooking tapioca

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 cup white sugar

4 cups pitted cherries

1/4 teaspoon almond extract

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 tablespoons butter

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C). Place bottom crust in piepan. Set top crust aside, covered.

In a large mixing bowl combine tapioca, salt, sugar, cherries and extracts. Let stand 15 minutes. Turn out into bottom crust and dot with butter. Cover with top crust, flute edges and cut vents in top. Place pie on a foil lined cookie sheet --- in case of drips!

Bake for 50 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown.

Mexican Fajitas

Mellow Yellow Monday

Hubby's favorite food is Mexican style food. If we will go out and eat either we eat in Mexican or Chinese. If hubby's turn to chose we all go to Mexican restaurant that is why he will ask me first at least i will not upset hehhe. I like the Mexican buffet because the foods are mostly freshly cooked and healthy. Anyway, we will go maybe next week in a Mexican buffet...only $7.50 per person.

Asiana Restaurant

There are three times that we eat in same restaurant when we are in the mountain of NC. Asiana restaurant is really very popular since their foods are really awesome. You can find Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Koreans and other Asian foods. You can eat all you want for only $9+. Hubby was very impressed when he eat those foods. I even eat a Filipino desert and according to the people there the wife's owner is a Filipino. Anyway, that was hubby's plate in the picture below.

YUMMY SUNDAY

Yummy Pizza

Last night we ate pizza for dinner. I love it since hubby added many stuffs on it. We bought the pizza in Walmart and you just cook it but hubby wants to put more ingredients so it become more yummy. The chicken, pineapple, peppers, olives, and cheese add the taste really very good that i ate three big slices. The second picture was the first two slices i have....I want that pizza again hehehe....

Mushroom With Egg

A few times i like this mushroom with egg. I first knew this with hubby who cook it one day. I ask him how he cook it and i copied what he did. Just slice onion and garlic then fry it after that you put the mushroom. We used canned mushroom 4 cans then cook for a few minutes. After that you put the egg then mixed it together. Few minutes you put some soy sauce, black pepper, oregano, and a pinch of salt. Then mix all together then with for few minutes to finish. Have a wonderful day.

So Many Reason to Love The Jersey Shore

I absolutely love to watch The Jersey Shore, my friends do not understand it at all. I like the show so much because everyone seems to be more real than most of these shows that are on right now and they do not mind letting it all hang out; no matter how ugly or embarrassing it may seem, nothing is off limits to the cast.

I really like everyone on the show, there are a few characters that I favor over others. Pauly D is my favorite over all, he is easy on the eyes, likes to have a good time, and doesn't seem to want to get caught up in all the drama. The other thing about him is when he is faced with any kind of situation, he find a creative fun way to deal with it, definitely the life of the party. Snooki is another favorite of mine, she says exactly what comes to her mind and could care less who likes it, she always like to have a good time and is about sticking up for her true friends. Everyone else is great as well, these two just stick out to me.

I am not always home to catch it, but I watch it on satellite TV, that I got after seeing these http://www.direct.tv, and having DVR has made it possible for me to never miss it.
