Just how Triumph-ant is the new Triumph Fusion bra?

Triumph Maximizer Bra – My Fave!

Ever wanted “the Girls” to sit up and say “Hello!”? The Maximizer is for you. The Triumph Maximizer bra has padding under the bust to hold your breasts up and out in a perky fashion thereby maximising what you already have. Good for the less well endowed and quite effective if I don’t say so myself! The seamless cut and smooth microfibre material allows it to sit well under a clingy top or dress providing a nice “foundation” building on what you already have. Not bad really. No brainer that I liked this one. Got it in black – nothing more sexy than that!

Random Search Query of the week

I noticed a few searches coming in asking “can i take loose powder cosmetics on plane” and “traveling with lip gloss on the plane” which led them to how I pack cosmetics to carry on board the plane. The quick answer is anything powder goes without question. Liquids like lip glosses are of no problem so long as they are under 100ml and the total does not exceed 1 litre. Easy math eh?

And for the few queries I received, metal lash curlers posed no problems whatsoever for me. I doubt I’d be able to hijack a plane with a pair of eyelash curlers – “Take this plane to Peru or I’d crimp your lashes so hard they’ll kink!” hardly poses a threat eh? Especially once they find out I use the Shu Uemura eyelash curler which doesn’t kink lashes anyway

Have a Burlesque Ball with Stage Cosmetics Holiday collection

Stage Cosmetics has come up with something interesting and might I say quite eye catching for the Holiday season – Burlesque Ball! Think Dita von Teese with a strong lip colour and strong eye colours. Burlesque gives you a chance to wear red lipstick like there’s no tomorrow!

We have here the 5 colour eyeshadow palette in Gossip which is perfect for smokey eyes and the new Stage WonderKiss cream lipstick in Racy.

Gossip has 5 colours in an easy to tote slim palette – dark navy blue, purple, metallic grey, metallic brown and shimmer white. I use 2-3 colours max to create a mean smokey eye but I find the combination I use most is the dark blue, grey and white. The look is seriously awesome and can take you from day to night depending on the intensity. I wore this most while on holiday and I find it enhances my eyes somehow.

I do find however that the colours tend towards the dark. In fact the palette reminds me of a Dior palette – I can’t place which though. So whilst it looks navy blue in the pan, its almost black on the skin. The purple barely shows up as purple and is in fact my least favourite colour although you can wear it on its own with the white to bring out the sparkles.

The brown is pretty if used on its own with the white while I love the white. It creates the most perfect highlight for the inner corners to open up your eyes and also for the brow bone. If you have overdone the darker colours, just swipe some white shadow over your lid and immediately the colours lighten in intensity.

If you want a palette that you can use to easily create a smokey eye then this might be it. I do note however that the staying power isn’t quite up to mark. I do not have oily lids but I did find the colour fading a little towards the end of the day. Nothing an eye base can’t fix but you should take note of this. I have the same problem with MAC eyeshadows and no one else does so its a case of “your mileage might vary”. I’ve got a FOTD below to show you how it all looks with Racy Wonderkiss lipstick – the reddest lip I’ve ever sported

While we are still in holiday mode – at least I am – lets continue our virtual travels to Taiwan. I received an email from Christine who wanted to know this:-

Well as I told Christine, I’ve never been to Taiwan and I don’t quite follow Asian skincare or cosmetics trends so I’m not the best person to ask.

The only thing that comes to mind is Japanese cosmetics which tend to be a little cheaper than even in Japan or perhaps Asian cosmetics in general, and My Beauty Diary masks which my sister hauled back without knowing what they were LOL…

That Green Juice that is Kiehl’s Alcohol Free Cucumber Herbal Toner

I’d been using the Kanebo Blanchir Clear Conditioner toner for a couple of years now and its served me well. However, I was curious as to other toners out there, so when I finished my last bottle, I ran out in a daze of freedom to buy one from a different brand.

My footsteps led me to Kiehl’s and after a quick chat with the sales person, I exited the store in a daze, carrying the Kiehl’s Alcohol Free Cucumber Herbal toner. It was recommended to me as being suitable for those with normal and/or sensitive skins.

The liquid is clear dark green – a dark vegetable green as you would get were you to puree spinach and squeeze out the juice. That sort of green. Very “un-cucumber” which is usually portrayed as clear light green or just clear.

There is a strong herbal scent that might bug some but perverse me loves it! I swear I’m addicted to the smell What I’m not quite addicted to is the toner.

It behaves well for a toner that you use to clean off residue of cleanser or dirt or makeup etc that you did not quite get clean in the shower. Its slightly astringent and tingles the skin, but it is not drying and is alcohol-free. That part I like.

What I did on my Holidays : 2 days in Tokyo, Japan Travel and Shopping

Konichiwa!

I thought I was clever prepping the past few posts for the time I knew I would be away on holiday. I just failed to take note that I would be too exhausted after I return to get back into the swing of things that quickly hence the gap yesterday! I guess we live and learn eh?

So yes I’m back from my holiday and it was a blast! I was in Japan for the past 5 days with 2 days in Tokyo and a 2 day side trip to Hakone where I strived (but failed) to see Mount Fuji, and where I made many a bargain with the weather Gods to please please stop the rain because it was coming down in sheets and keeping me restrained in the hotel.

What to do in Tokyo

Here’s what I did in Tokyo in my 2 days there. It might not be what everyone tells you to do, or what most people do, but I enjoyed myself to the utmost just walking through the city in my own time.

Visit Tsukiji Fish Market – I was there at 5.30am and caught the tuna fish auction. Amazing! Also had fish water poured over my legs by some random worker which pissed me off no end! Lucky for me, my boots kept my feet dry even if the bottom half of my jeans were soaked.
Eat Sushi at Tsukiji - You have to do this! Fresh fish and seafood off the boat and into your tummy at 6.30am – yummy! I had sea urchin, squid, tuna, prawns all raw and not quite wriggly. Surprisingly delicious
Go to Shibuya - and see the huge pedestrian intersection at the Hachiko Gate. The crossing is almost balletic as traffic in all directions stop for the sea of people to cross! Hachiko if you are wondering is the name of that famous loyal dog that stayed rooted to his spot by the Shibuya train station waiting for his master to return even though the master never returned from work. I believe its now made into a movie.
Visit Meiji-jingu or the Meiji Shrine in Yoyogi park. The park is beautiful – a calm oasis in the centre of the busy Tokyo metropolis. I absolutely loved walking through the quiet park with the autumn chill in the air. I was there on a Sunday and there were many worshipers visiting the Shrine. My favourite scene was to see the adorable Japanese children togged out in their Kimono. I also caught a traditional Japanese wedding procession which was awesome!
Go to Asakusa - Walk down the traditional Nakamise souvenir street towards the Sensoji Temple and see how beautiful the place is. This part of Tokyo is the older part of town and a throwback to the Edo period. It was a lovely sunny day when I was there and there was a Kabuki performance going on which was a bonus.
Walk down Omotesando and Ginza - 2 high end shopping streets in Tokyo. Both are very classy areas and have higher end shopping for those who prefer luxury products. I was just there to say I’d been there not that I could afford anything in the stores!
Visit Harajuku - You’ve probably heard of this and I was there on Sunday when the costumed people come out to play. It was amazing to see all the Gothic Lolitas, Cosplay fanatics, cross dressers, punks and any number of strangely dressed people strolling the streets. I saw someone who looked mortifyingly like Morticia Addams and a cross dressing blonde doll complete with curls, pink frilly dress. Disturbing!
Shinjuku for more shopping - Shinjuku station is where many rail lines intersect so its a super busy place. Lots of shopping centres all around – not all are affordable
Try an Onsen (Hot Spring Bath) – Ok I did not do this in Tokyo but in Hakone so I can’t tell you where in Tokyo you can go. This is the public bath where you shower and bath in your birthday suit and certainly not for you if you are shy. If you are willing to give it a go, you’d find the hot spring bath relaxing and its not as awkward as you initially think as the baths are segregated by gender.

Does Kiehl’s Sunflower Color Preserving Shampoo and Conditioner come up Peaches?

When I got my hair coloured, I also found myself in the uneviable position of having to buy shampoo for coloured hair. I don’t need more bottles of shampoo clogging up my shower stall! But for the sake of maintaining my hair colour for longer, I decided to.

I opted to try something new by Kiehl’s – their Sunflower Colour Preserving Shampoo and Conditioner. I popped into the store at Pavilion to pick up a sample but they were out, so I bit the bullet and bought a set for about RM145 – yeouch!

Ok it wasn’t so much as biting the bullet as finding haircare products that smell of peaches. I love peaches – fruit, colour and scent – so it was easy to sell me the shampoo and conditioner just by opening up the bottle and letting me take a healthy sniff

The Kiehl’s Sunflower Colour Preserving Shampoo line is paraben, silicone and sulfate free. Knowing that, I did not expect the shampoo to lather up and truly, it does not. Its a weird feeling because I find myself using a little more than I usually do to get some sort of lather going. When I rinse out the shampoo, my scalp feels clean, and my hair does not feel dry. But it does not feel quite as clean as I expect it to.
