Didn’t know anything about him, but the cover just looked cool, and I had heard “Rock-n-Roll Hoochie Cooch” on the WNEW. So there it’s in the box, I put it in the player and BOOM ! HELLO KICK ASS ROCK N ROLL ! I listened to this album the WHOLE summer, over and over and over. The guitar playing, the songs, the crowd, it is just AWESOME ! Recorded in Cleveland this just shows pure kick ass bar rock n roll at its finest. I don’t know if you could even find this type of show anymore ? Derringer also is just a really great rock guitar player also and the band is just soooooo sloopy tight, something you don’t get unless you have done 200 shows in 9 months with a bunch of booze, cigs and pot along the way ! Long gone they finally re-released it on CD in 2004. GREAT CD ! Goto Hotlicks Section !

Many local bands struggle to survive with most meeting a sad and unfortunate demise. During this time, the musical group known as Alukard has managed not only to endure, but flourish in the local music scene as a noteworthy representative for the sound of Miami. Great ska reggae style band, recording is live but wish it was better to highlite this great band! Cherry Bomb the Runaways - A movie was just announced about the 70s rock band the Runaways with Joan Jett and Lita Ford. I have to be honest I never liked them when they where current I would read about them in Creem Magazine and Circus and it wasn’t because they where girls, it was because they just sucked. I love lots of girl rockers from Shiney Toy Guns to Wendy O but it has to be real ! They used the whole girl thing as hype and if they where guys they would have never gotten past the local bar scene ? I don’t know the movie will be filled with girl cat fights, lesbo scenes and guy sex scenes, and the whole watch the girls as they fight to the top in a male rock world just is a bore. Is it me or is this just a sell-out wait that’s what it was in the first place ! Rolling Stone News

The recording is kinda mid-rangey but actually it sounds like most recordings from the period, the guitars kick ass, the distorto vocals are real, the drums are very punkish just wish they where miced a bit more to give the song some more kick.
Is Rock Dead Pt 4 ? - I pulled this video from youtube just by chance as I never heard of this band before CSS - canseidesersexy, but they seem pop’ey and to be relevant of todays music. One their from Brazil so it just shows us the power of the internet 10 yrs ago we would never be talking about this band in the USA unless they where superstars so mass exposure is easier than ever. But is that good ? Just because someone gives you free pizza should you eat all you can get ? Depends if its good and also how hungry you are I guess ? Is music different just because there are 1000000 myspace bands should we listen, just because its free should we download ? I guess it depends how hungry and if it’s any good ? I’ll give this band from Brazil a break there not from the lower east side NYC, or the glitz of LA, or the hipness of London, or the off beat path of Austin. But it’s got some hooks, and the video is kinda hooky, but hey it’s FREEE !!! Eat up right !?!?!?

The beautiful people are still the beautiful people just more explotied and more exposed. In this video you feel you run right into Andy Warhol in the corning musing on the happening. Great footage of Beck and Jimmy Page, but the real coolness is just the capturing of a moment in time.

Chickenfoot has arrived - is this a supergroup, a cult, a silly name or just a throwback kick ass rock band ? The members are all super stars going on past 25 yrs Joe Satch, Sammy Haggar, Michael Anthony, and the man between the pipes on drums Chad Smith. What it really is I think is 4 guys playing the music they love and grew up with, it’s very Zep based, very party rock, just very in your face kick ass bar room rock-n-roll ! I think they just would hang out and play Cabo at Sammy’s place never leave and be quit happy to just rock it ! Great drums, great guitars, its fun to hear Satch with a great vocalist ! On tour May 2009…..www.chickenfoot.com
