Locked Groove’s started his own label and this is the first release. Vinyl only and in your shops today. The A-side is cool but it’s the flip that it’s all about. Killer pianos and one that I can certainly see will make many sweaty, pilled up rave casualties reach down and rip the shirts from their bodies in one swift move. That is, of course, if it doesn’t get all stuck to them because of the perspiration. Gross. Them, not the tune.

Everyone knows Mtume for Juicy Fruit, the track that Notorious BIG used for the backing of Juicy. What you might not have known is that there were plenty of other great songs by the band and that James Mtume, their founder, has a list song writing credits longer than something incredibly long indeed. You should be well aware of one of them, at least

Great moody ambient indie from way back in 1980. Headed by awesome nutter Julian Cope The Teardrop Explodes made some wicked post punk goodness. Love the beatless(ish) vibe on this one, really need to explore their back catalogue a bit further and discover a few more gems!

This comes from the “Killamanjaro” album which apparently originally going to be called “Everyone Wants To Shag The Teardrop Explodes”. I think we can agree that this is a much better title!
