Kawaguchiko to Mount Fuji 5th station is about 50 minutes by bus.
From Kawaguchiko and Yamanakako is less than 30 minutes.
If you are coming from Tokyo, there's a highway bus from Tokyo station to Kawaguchiko station via Yamanakako.

thanks for the info... i'm hoping for the weather to be nice! how far is Kawaguchiko and Yamanakako Lakes from Mount Fuji? also, what type of weather should we expect around the Nov 18th?

I kinda waited for planning and am doing everything last.

my wife and i will be in japan nov 17-24 and want to spend a day and night in the fuji area.... what can be done by a tourist in that area during that time??

May I ask how do you get up to Mount Fuji in December (if you are not joining a Tour bus). I am going on 9 December 2009 but there is no bus service from Kawaguchiko Station to the 5th Station in December, the last bus service will be on 30 November 2009. I am so disappointed.

Ela, It's been over a year since I attempted to visit Mt. Fuji! The day I planned on climbing, there were some severe thunderstorms, and all the buses were full (or so I was told). Did you make it?? My apologies for not replting back then. In fact I haven't been on this site for quite some time. Are you located in Japan? I'm here in Okinawa. Feel free to contact me... I missed my opportunity to climb in '08 (due to heavy thunderstorms), and wasn't able to reach the mainland in '09 (due to work restrictions). I'm considering a trip next year! I was supposed to return to the U.S. this past August (after being here in Okinawa for 4 years)... but decided to stay here!! Okinawa, Japan is like paradise!! Anyone else out there planning a trip to Mt. Fuji, feel free to contact me!!

Thank you for the information. You are right. There is a night bus from Kawaguchiko to Osaka.
(The Web site is written in Japanese but I'll post it here just in case: http://www.yamanashibus.com/kousoku_osaka.htm )
The bus leaves Fujikyu Highland at 20:14 and the fare is 8,500 yen.

actually we found out there is one bus per day from mt fuji to osaka, however , its only every 8pm of the day.

Can i check how near is Gotemba from Mt fuji and how far is Gotemba to Osaka ?
How long will it take and is there bus service ?

Yes, even in December there's a bus from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko.
Fujikyu Highland theme park is open all year round.

FYI, We don't have a bus to the 5th station of Mount Fuji in December. For ordinary people climbing Mount Fuji is possible only during summer.

We're not trying to climb the mountain , we thought its a tourist attraction venue ..haa...But if as you say, it'll be dangerous, we'll not be going up.

However, Fuji highland themepark is not up there right ? We can still visit the theme park right ?

There's no bus to the 5th station of Mount Fuji from December to March. (The last one from Shinjuku for 2009 is Nov. 3).
You might be able to take a train to Kawaguchiko station and then a taxi to the 5th station, but I think the fee will be expensive and also the road may be closed if it's covered with snow.

Hi ,

My friends and I will be traveling to Mt Fuji on 30th Dec.
We will take a bus from tokyo shinjuku area to mt fuji.
However, after that , we would need to go to Osaka from Mt fuji, but i couldn't find a way.
I heard there is bus ? but i'm not sure how and where to take.
Can anyone who knows can advise me what are the different methods which i can travel to Osaka from Mt Fuji ?

i'm looking at climbing on the 9th of Sept and am looking for others to climb with.. Would the 9th be a possibility for you guys? I was planning to get to the 5th station around 9th afternoon and then stay in a hut overnight at the 7th or 8th station and climb the rest of the way to the top in the morning..

Let me know what you think or if anyone else is climbing on the 9th.

Heya friend and I will climb in mid sept. Plan is to rent a car and drive to 5th station in late afternoon and then hike through night for sunset, back to car late morning/lunch and drive back to TOkyo.

Looking for for anyone interested in helping out with costs.

ps looking at maybe 10th as a possibility at this stage...if not 10th then will be around 17th or the few days days after that
