Once in a while I read some of my junk e-mails when they look interesting like the ones that say “buy phentermine“.  They go on in the ad about how it’s a safe appetite suppressant, and with diet and exercise it will help you lose weight.  Now I don’t know how true this is because I’ve never used it, but they had an ad for the over the counter diet pill that advertised to buy 3 bottles and get one free.  That was a 120 day supply of 240 caplets.  Now I did the math on this, and that means I would have to take two pills a day.  Now I think it’s kind of funny when I read anything that tells me that you have to take a lot of pills to lose weight because I remember when I was a kid watching the cartoons.  I am sure you know the ones that when they had to lose a little weight they would have a pill on their dish, and everyone else had food.

Why do so many companies have to be on the diet wagon?

The one thing that I’ve noticed since I lost a lot of the weight that I needed to lose is that over the past few years how I still feel like I’m really big.  When I told this to one of my friends, who is a little heavier than me, she told me that it’s not that I’m big, but how I carry my weight.  I also thought what does she mean by that.  She says, and I quote, in her case she is fat all over, and that’s why she looks thinner, where I’m all belly, and look heavier.  Even though I diet, walk and do a little cardio I do need to fit in a good ab workout to help me get rid of the rest of the belly fat.  The only reason that I believe anything she says is because she reads a lot of those diet books, and has been losing weight too.  She also has given me good advice before.  Who knows maybe she’s onto something.  I guess the only way to find out is by trying it, even if it’s the one thing I so hate much.

When I go for my daily walks I run into a lot of people that ask me if walking is how I lost a lot of weight.  I tell them that it helps, but that I had to change my eating habits too.  You can always tell that it’s what they don’t want to hear.  I lost weight by diet, and exercise.  Just so you know… there is no quick weight loss.  What I’ve learned over the past two years is that if you want something then you have to work at it.  I also know that it’s not fun, but I will say I look and feel ten times better than I did two years ago.  It also is a learning thing for me because I did slip out of my routine for a little while to take a break, and I found out how fast you can gain weight back if you don’t maintain, and keep up with how you do things.  All I can say is that there is no quick fix once you lose what you want to lose, and if you stop working at it and go back to your old ways it will come back faster then it came off.  Someone once told me that for things to change you must change.  I’ve learned this is true whether or not I like it.

When my brother and his new wife were having a baby I decided that I wanted to do something nice for them.  So when they had a stroller down on their gift registry I thought that would be what I would get them.  I mean how much could a stroller be?  Well all I can say is wow to how much strollers have changed since I had my little one 10 years ago.  I wanted something nice, and useful.  I was looking at this baby jogger city select stroller, and it looked way cool.  It has 16 different configurations.  It even had some add-ons like a bassinet, and if they ever needed it they could get a second seat kit.  I was very happy with the stroller that I had found until I saw the price of $ 500.00.  This was a lot more than the $ 200.00 I wanted to spend.  So when it came closer to the baby shower I just went to the store, and got them something they had on their gift registry, and they loved it.  I loved that in the end they got something nice and it didn’t cost me the $500.

As I get closer to the age of 40 I find myself getting worried about getting old.  I want to more to make sure that I don’t look really old.  One of the things I worry about is wrinkles, and getting rid of them without painful or high cost Botox injections.  I saw an ad for a wrinkle serum that claims that it has powerful anti aging ingredients.  I went down the page to read about what the prototype 37-c reviews say, and everyone had lots of good things to say about how it works.  The one thing that I couldn’t find anywhere was its price.  I guess that true beauty has no price.  If the price was there then this means that I have something new to worry about because I don’t look good in glasses.

I recently got an e-mail claiming that it had access to the best diet pills for women around.  Now this caught my attention because even though I knew that men and women have different bodies I never knew that women should take different diet pills than men in order to help with weight loss.  If a diet pill is made to help you lose weight what does it matter what sex you are?

Last year when I got the little one new curtain’s for her room she wanted some more grown up ones.  So this year I let her pick them out.  She picked out a very nice set of pink ones, but because they were so shear we had to get her blinds to keep the sun out.  I went to the store by me to get cheap blinds for her room, and I saw some nice faux wood blinds, but after what I had just spent on curtains decided that they were too much for me.  I ended up just getting the cheap ones.  Now a year later she broke them, and hubby says that it’s because I tried to save a few dollars, and didn’t just go ahead, and buy good ones.  I know that realistically our little one had a fit, and didn’t mean to break them.  So now I went back to get better ones, and got a surprise.  The price was more this time around.  It drives me nuts when this happens so I picked up another cheap set, and told her that she pays for them the next time she breaks them.  Who knows maybe now they’ll last a little longer.

We go camping once or twice a year just to get away for a weekend, and try to have some fun.  I make sure I pack every little thing that you could think of in case we need it.  I told hubby that next time I need to pack some eye creams, or maybe just some good sleeping pills because the bed in the camper keeps me up all night because it’s so hard.  I guess that I shouldn’t complain because some people have it worse because they are in tents.  It’s funny how when I was a kid I remember how I could sleep almost anywhere.

We remodeled our house a bit last month.  We did some small things, and the biggest thing we did was paint.  When I painted all my doors in the house I took all the door knobs off instead of trying to paint around the door locks, and knobs.  At first I thought this was a better way of working, and that it would be no big deal to put them back on.  I mean how hard could it be to put two screws back in to the door knobs.  Well what I failed to realize was that if you don’t line everything up just right that they don’t work correct.  I didn’t want to tell hubby what I did because he told me not to take the locks off because I won’t know how to put them back on.  I wish I did listen to him because it would have made my life a little easier.  I tried to put them back on correct for one hour before I said forget this, and waited for hubby to get home.  Hubby said that it would have been a little easier if I didn’t put all the parts for 4 different locks in one spot.  Maybe I need to listen to him more often.  He told me I should have just taped them off, or just cut in around them.  I didn’t understand the cut in part, but he said that he knows how to do it because he does it everyday at his part time job.

For a while now we’ve been putting off fixing anything in the house that we felt could wait because money is tight right now.  Well when one of hubby’s good friends came over to visit, and he noticed that our front wood steps were in bad shape.  We had noticed this earlier when my mother in law made a comment about them, but delayed working on them because of money.  He told hubby that if he wanted him to he would show him how to fix them.  That weekend he came by to show hubby how to do the steps the right way.  I was very thankful because he does this stuff for a living, and knew what he was doing.  I had to laugh when the little one came home from a bike ride, and told me how she was upset with her dad because he was not using any safety glasses.  So I told her to tell him this, and not me.  He got mad because she was bothering him while he was working with a saw.  I told him that she has a good point.  I then mentioned that he had just told her not to long ago that she had to wear her bike helmet for safety reasons.  That’s when he told me that if one more person bothered him he would stop working on fixing the steps.  In knowing that I needed the steps to get in the house I decided to take the little one to the park so he could work in peace.  When I came home they were done, and I had very well made steps.  The most important thing that happened is that noone got hurt doing it.

This past father’s day I realized how when it comes to getting a gift for dad it almost seems geared a lot towards mens ties.  This is fine if dad likes, or even wears ties.  My hubby doesn’t.  He is a simple person.  He isn’t into Hob-Knobbing in any organizations, or things like that.  He likes to just relax at home, and have no possible reason to spend any extra money.

Not knowing what to do I did the next best thing, and asked the little one to help me since he is her dad.  It didn’t take her long to find her dad a great gift.  It was a PS3 network card.  He always talks about getting games from the Playstation Network, and this seemed perfect.  She felt maybe he would like to pick his own gift out, and said he liked a lot of stuff that they had on the Store last time.  Come father’s day when he got her gift he told her that he loved it, and wanted to use it on something the whole family could play.  That’s when I realized it’s not about what you get dad for father’s day, or whether it’s a handmade card or a tie.

What Fathers Day is all about is that you show him you care, and appreciate all that he does for you.

I recently took the little one to the bank with me to cash in her change at one of those coin machines.  She loves this because if you geuss how much you have before putting your money in, and you are within $1.99 you win a prize.  Now the prizes are nothing great.   They are always just some promotional products that the bank gives out.  The little one does love when she wins.  That night hubby told me that he lost his flashlight somewhere, and needed to buy a new one.  This came from the man that knows everything.  Seriously… one year we went on a trip, and needed some documentation sent to us.  We had a friend go to our house, and she was amazed at how he knew exactly where the paperwork was that he needed.  Anyway, he probably left it at one of his jobs.  So I told him what the bank does, and how he should get some promotional flashlights, and pens instead of business cards seeing how he leaves them everywhere he goes.  Who knows maybe he will get some work out of it.

Last Friday I had to take our little one to the doctors because she had these red blotches all over her body.  The nurse at her school said that they were flea bites.  That night we washed the cats, and cleaned the rugs, but found nothing to conincide with this diagnosis.  I was worried that it might have been an allergic reaction to an acne treatment wash that I got her a few days ago.  The doctor was very good about getting her in early to see her.  When he looked at her all he could say was that they were some kind of bug bites.  Now I told him about the cats, and how I found nothing on them.  He said that they do look like flea bites, and that she could have gotten them from anywhere.  With that he gave me two creams.  One for itching, and one to heal it.  For the most part it started going away when she was home from school last weekend.  Since she went back this week she is still getting new bites on, and off in new spots.  I told hubby that if this keeps up I think we will need a new doctor.  It will be one that knows what this kid has.

In our house we are big coffee drinkers.  Now that the heat has moved in, and a hot cup of coffee isn’t desireable we were pleased to be offered to try out “Brew Over Ice” K-Cups.  These K-Cups look identical to the standard coffees, and teas.  This may be a bit confusing if you have keep your cups in a basket.  Hubby tried the first one, and being that he has never had iced coffee he was cautious.  He said that they were ok, and would have to try a few more to decide for himself.  I tried some, and found them to be very good, and refreshing in the heat.  It would be nice if they found a way to make more flavors than they have out.
