One day early this year I was sitting in a van and roasting in the tropical noontime heat of downtown Monrovia, Liberia. People crowded the sidewalks, unwelcome odors radiated from the streets, and sweat rolled down my rib cage. I was angry about being robbed in Brussels en route to Liberia and sleep-deprived by the extended travel across many time zones.

Cultivating Christlike Character in Children, Especially Those At Risk

Character Solutions (CSI) is one of several MTC programs, such as child sponsorship and leper ministry. In an unusual way it reaches into those existing programs and at the same time reaches beyond to touch hearts that the Mission To Children would probably never have the opportunity to influence if God had not breathed life into CSI. CSI is also being welcomed as a key to reaching across religious walls to those who are not yet followers of Jesus Christ. Various leaders in India report, "Who does not want character for their children? CSI opens conversations in a way that shows respect, reduces hostility, and builds good relationships."

My Prayer For Mission To Children

As part of its response to this situation, MTC is prayerfully and diligently initiating relationships with Christian foundations whose trustees may share our zeal for transforming the lives of children--especially kids in underdeveloped countries. The synergy of such linkages can result in additional ministry that brings great glory to God.
