By now, you have probably read a multitude of information about the benefits of blogging, article marketing, and using social media for your Internet marketing campaign. When you see the big picture, it can quickly become overwhelming, making you realize that it is difficult to do it all yourself.

So where does outsourcing come into play?

Outsourcing is both a dangerous and invaluable topic when it comes to marketing your company online.

We are all well aware of clicking on an Ezine article, only to find it written with horrible grammar and in broken English. This is one of the dangers of outsourcing cheaply because many people will pay non-English speaking writers a ridiculously cheap price to mass write articles to submit to a number of directories.

To shed light on this issue, this is an old link building tactic that should no longer be relied upon to promote your business. In this day and age of search engine optimization and Internet marketing, you can no longer depend on spammy tactics of submitting hundreds of articles to one directory in the hope of building back links to your website.

Instead, you have to marry the best of both worlds together by putting out a large amount of useful content (the keyword here is useful) that people will want to read, link back to, and continue to circulate to their friends. This means that when you choose writers or individuals to work on your social media campaign, you need to be willing to pay a fair price for people who know what they are doing. If you are going to skimp on the cost of your outsourcing by paying for low quality articles, then you can only expect low quality results in return.

So this brings us back to the question as to whether or not outsourcing is ideal for a blogging and social media campaign? The answer is a resounding yes if you make educated choices in who you outsource to.

Let us pick up writing as an example. Writing is one of the best areas to outsource because many people do not have the time, means, or talent to do it themselves. In fact, we are all well aware that content is what makes the Internet go round, so if you are able to create a relationship with a quality writer who will continue to provide you with content on a regular basis, then you are set up for success.
Here are the steps that many people take in outsourcing to promote their online business:

Sign up for a virtual assistant or freelancing website to begin looking for quality writers and marketers to outsource to.

Ask all writers and marketers for samples of their work, and make sure to communicate with them beforehand about their availability, prices, and willingness to offer a discount for bulk work.

If possible, choose several writers for a single project to see who responds best, writes well, and is the most professional. This will allow you to handpick your top writer or team of writers that you want to create a relationship with. When it comes to choosing a writer to outsource to, of course, they must have talent, but many times, being prompt, reliable, and professional will go a long way versus serious talent in a writer. Food for thought.

Continue to employ your top writer as a member of your staff to blog, write articles, guest blog, and even write press releases to make sure that word about your company is available on the Internet in any and every venue.

Of course, outsourcing can be used for other purposes, like managing your marketing campaign, managing your social media profiles, creating an SEO campaign for you, or even for your virtual assistant. As an online business, outsourcing is more valuable than ever before because it saves you much more money than having a physical office with a staff that you pay each day. This is precisely why many more online businesses are turning to outsourcing, and more and more quality writers and marketers are beginning to freelance online because of this opportunity alone.

So what is the bottom line when it comes to outsourcing?

Be selective, know what you are looking for, and be willing to pay a fair price for quality work. If you don’t yet have the budget to create an outsourcing campaign, start small by purchasing a few quality articles from writers as a much better use of your money than buying poorly written articles in bulk that will only be a waste of space on the Internet.

After establishing a successful blog, blending in with the community will keep it relevant and help it to mature with a constant stream of visitors and income. To become integrated with the community, however, bloggers must learn networking skills to get to know other players in the business and to get others to know them.

Unfortunately, many bloggers become like cave dwellers, seldom departing from the comfort zone of their own projects and rarely interacting with other people. If you are interested in networking with the community, but do not know how to get started, here are seven networking tips that you can use to find like minded bloggers.

1. Comment on high traffic blogs: Perhaps getting your name out will lay the best foundation to a networking effort. By letting people see your name and see that you participate in community discussions rather than just looking for links, you will work your way into your niche community. This approach will not result in instant success, but over time you will become a solid element of your community that develops natural link support.

2. Be sincere: With so many bloggers out there trying to make a quick buck, many established bloggers shy away from newcomers because they know that they want links for their own block without any real interest in giving to the community. Sure, you probably want to build your blog, but see if you can find the desire within you to be a team player. By exhibiting a genuine interest to make meaningful contributions in the community, you will earn respect over time that will ultimately boost your own personal efforts.

3. Provide unconditional links: Rather than emphasizing your desire for links on other Web sites, try linking to other players in your niche from your site without any conditions. Add two or three links to every article you post. This will add value to your posts while taking steps to integrate your site. Unconditional links will get you noticed too because almost everyone pays attention to links that lead into their site.

4. Work with small blogs: The huge players in your niche may take years before they ever will acknowledge your existence, even if you consistently bring them inbound links. Therefore, you should consider taking initiative with smaller blogs in your niche. Since these bloggers want to develop into a larger player just like you do, they will be more willing to exchange links, posts, and even tips and tricks with you. Also, by networking with smaller blogs, you will be able to share the joys and travails as your sites grow over the years.

5. Volunteer to help: If you view a Web site or blog within your niche and you notice that a page doesn’t load properly or if you can help with a formatting problem, take the initiative and point out the problem and offer your free assistance. Granted, most bloggers would prefer to fix the problem on their own, but your helpful tips and offer to help will rarely go unnoticed.

6. Take the initiative: Taking the first step often takes the most courage. You never know how others will react to you when you leave your first comment, but you need the confidence it takes to leave it anyway. If you think you won’t get a reciprocal link, you never will ask. Networking often implies the risk of rejection or embarrassment, but in order to get connected with others online, you will have to take the risk.

7. Social networking: You probably get tired of hearing about Facebook and Twitter. Still, these are excellent places to meet people in your niche. Go ahead and friend some bloggers and follow them on Twitter too. Many will friend you or follow you back in return. Social network sites offer a great way to break the ice as you get to know like minded bloggers.

These 7 networking tips on how to find like minded bloggers will help you become an integrated part of your niche community online. You will notice that your own blog will grow as you work with others as genuine partners for success.

If you wish to write one, check out the guest-posting guidelines and details

Anybody can have a blog. Anyone. Literacy, skill, insight, knowledge and humor are not pre-requisite for blogging. All you need is a computer with internet access, and bang you’re officially a blogger.

However, there are numerous factors that set the good blogs apart from the nonsense. The first step to squeezing out from the pack is to create a personal brand on your blog.

Define Your Blog Brand

Shaping a personal brand mean knowing who you are, what your style is and how you want to be perceived by the world. The perfect time to go through this thought process is before you make a domain. However if that ship has sailed, there’s no time like the present. The good news is that a lot of times an established blog is somewhat organically a reflection of yourself so translating that into a “brand” usually just requires a little analysis and fine tuning.

Look at your writing, is there a general theme? Travel, family, relationships, healthy living? You may discover that you are all over the place on subject matter, but what is your perspective are you a cynic? An optimist? Does your blog complain, observe, collect, or review? Then that voice is your theme. Learn to recognize where you are coming from, what your specialty is, runt with that and stick to it. Being consistent is the root of being a brand.

Set Your Style

Half of branding is really about image. What image is being projected to the world about who you are? Are you a clean-cut mom? A Single party-girl? Are you a tough guy with a soft side, as evidenced through your copious photographs of sunsets taken on your cross-country hikes?

It’s important to understand this aspect of yourself in order to create the right package for your blog. A brand includes not just the message but very literally colors, shapes, names and faces. Your name and your tag-line should be a reflection of your voice and your colors and logo should be consistent with your themes. The look of your brand is going to say a lot about you before anyone gets to read a post. Creating a brand means making sure that all of your choices support one central message

Claim Your Name and Introduce Yourself

Once you’ve created a blog that has a clear message, with a congruous image then it’s time to step out in public. There are a multitude of social media channels for promoting blog content, whether you plan to use them or not, claim your name. Places like twitter and Facebook are great for socializing and trying to create a community for your blog.

If you choose not to use them that’s your call, I don’t recommend it but to each his own. Just make sure that you lock down your brand name so if you get all super-famous, no one else can get to it and create trouble for you.

If you have a theme to your blog, there’s a really strong chance that there are several other blogs with similar themes that would be considered in your “niche”. Introduce yourself to these bloggers either privately, or simply by reading and commenting on their work or referencing their stuff on your own blog. But don’t be all super smarmy about it, like making really general comments that are clearly only a means for self promotion.

Treat Yourself Like a Business

The final and most challenging part of crating a personal brand is sticking it out for the long haul. Professionalism and representing your brand respectfully 100% of the time is key. Sure, it can be hard to be flawless and perpetually on your game. And you’re probably not gonna be. So get used to the idea and learn how to treat yourself like a business. Learn to apologize when you do make mistakes, and how to move forward.

Most importantly, treat your brand like your company and show integrity when it comes to all of your interactions. Becoming a self business also means creating schedules and budgets. Put time and money into marketing yourself. Travel to conferences if you can, create marketing materials, branded items and put yourself out there.

Making a living as a blogger and following your passion really can be living the dream. But if you want to strengthen your chances of reaching that level of success with your blog it is essential to polish yourself into a shiny whole package that is both consistent and relatable paired with the discipline to make it last.

If you are on WordPress you wont need any of those. Inherently, every post can be queried from the database using its post ID. For instance, this link and this link point to the same post.

Your short urls for all your WordPress post will be in the following format:

yourdomain.com/?p=POST_ID

To find the POST_ID of a post, just go to your Posts > Edit Page in WordPress Admin and hover over the title of the post and check the link on the status bar. The last number that you see is the POST_ID of the corresponding post. See the image:

Now with this knowledge you could create your own Retweet Button’s and use the link in Twitter

Its different and I love it. I would like to call it ‘Confessions of a Problogger’s Wife’ Leaving the rest to you!

My name is Kasia I am married to a problogger. Why is this important for you? Inspiration.

If you have ever thought about trying to write a blog instead of working for a company, read on. If you are currently blogging and some days wonder if you are doing the right thing, read on. Further, if you live in an up and coming nation like I do (Poland) and not London or New York you have some unique advantages.

If people do not understand your online efforts – this is actually a good thing

Kasia and Mark

I had never imagined I would marry a problogger, in fact a few years ago I had no idea what a blog was. When I told my parents I meet a problogger, they said that is nice Kasia, but what does he do for work? I replied ‘he writes’. My parents relied, ‘Oh he works for a newspaper’. I answered, ‘do people still read newspapers?’

I continued to explain to my family that he writes on his webpage about the things he love in his life. It is kind of an online diary and writes software. However at this juncture blogging is almost our sole source of income until our software is complete. They gave me a most unusual look.

This is the same look his family gives him mind you. Many of friends have tried to understand what a pro blogging is, but to no avail. I have just accepted that most people not fully understand blogging for a living. If they did, they would most likely be doing.

Important point about being a web entrepreneur: If you are blogging or doing anything entrepreneurial or even just online for a living many people will not understand you. Even some of your friends might start be slightly jealous of your success. If that happens, do not worry, it is actually a sign you are moving in the right direction.

Here is the reality – With blogging we are able to live a normal upper middle class life.

Advantages of being married to a problogger

Flexible work hours – We can work anytime during the day. My husband works in the morning and I prefer the afternoon. If I need to go shopping I just go.

More time with my family – It goes without saying family, not work is the most important thing. Having a website lets you be with your family. No commuting no nights and weekends at the office, no corporate politics to get your family down. Our daughter gets a lot of mental stimulation from both parents at a time when her brain is developing as both parents are home. We take her to places like the zoo and the aquarium while others are at the office. Our marriage is peaceful. I think many good marriages have stress from being apart so many hours a day.We are happy and grateful to God for all we have.

Vacation anytime – When we want to take a vacation we just go. When we need to get away we do it. Being in the center of Europe we can hop on a train and go anywhere. I would say my husband is a bit of a workaholic, but since we are together all day, I do not feel it. In fact, you can take a working vacation by just bringing your laptop with you. We have thought of going to Italy for the summer and we can work there if we rent a cheap flat.

There is nothing better than living the problogger lifestyle.

Which country is best to blog in?

My husband is an American from Boston. Many of our friends say, wow when are you moving to the United States. My reply is we prefer Poland. Again many people can not understand this. But if you are a problogger or married to one, it does not matter where you live.

In fact you might not want to live in Switzerland or London or high currency countries and cities. I think you want to live in a country like India or Eastern Europe. Countries that have all the good things this world can offer but at a fraction of the price of New York or London.

This way in a you take full advantage of the global economy. If you get paid in dollars when you monetizing your blog, it is better to live in an up and coming country, and not a country that you have to pay a premium for everything.

Examples that illustrate why it is better to blog where you are:

We were in Vienna and water at a Kiosk cost 4 Euro. When we are in Poland were we live then same water costs 50 cents. It is basically the same bottle of mineral water, maybe better.

In Boston where my husband is from a flat will cost 2,000 dollars to rent a month. The same flat in Poland, in the city center, even nicer is about 400 dollars. The same flat. The same goes with almost everything in terms of price. A Mango in Kerala is cheaper (and maybe better) than a mango in London. It is all about lifestyle.

Therefore, if you feel you do not have the same chance to be a problogger living in an up and coming country. Think again, you have a better chance. Plus you might have more fight and motivation in you.

People I know from Poland where I live say, you can not make money blogging. I just reply OK and walk away. I do not try to change other people’s mind’s too much. I know my husband does well.

Monetary benefits of blogging for a living

With blogging you can make as much money as you like. It is according to how creative (and patient) you are.

Save money with no childcare Save money with no commuting, we do not have a car in fact as we live in a major city

Save money on food with more home cooked meals.

Save time (which is money) because you do things when everyone is at work, no lines

Many other but I think you should find this out yourself.

Everyone’s break-even point will be different dependent on your expenses. We live in Poland so the cost is about 1/3 to 1/2 that of the USA. This is good news if you live in Eastern Europe or India for example as all you need to prosper is intellectual capital and the expenses are low in these counties. If you live in a high-priced country like the USA you will have a higher break even point.

Tips I have learned from my husband

No use in rehashing the scores of tips already on the web about blogging, so lets just look at the most important thing.

Focus on link worthy content not design. Design is important, but creating not just content but linkable content is the most important. Our designs are pretty basic, just a WordPress template. However, it is the content that attracts readers.

Do not worry if you do not make a lot of money. Choose the blog you love and the money will follow. If you love cricket, do not write about auto insurance, just to make money. Write something niche and focused that you do not mind writing about. I write about children and family in my blog Kasia, it is mostly in Polish so just use Google translate. My husband writes about economics and money. He showed me the way regarding blogging for a living and maybe I have inspired you a little.

He added some code into WordPress core that replaces all instances of Wordpress with WordPress. See the difference? Look again, the P in second one is capital. Well, that is the way it is meant to be.

So what is the big deal?

At first look, its so silly. And if it was executed well, no one would have even noticed that. But that’s not how things are now. Apparently, this code even checks the permalinks and breaks them. Its that bad. I am pretty sure Matt didn’t see any of it coming.

There is a flame war going on in the community. Here is what you need to know:

The code literally breaks things like URLs on some sites. For example, suppose you installed WordPress in a /Wordpress directory. That would cause all kinds of trouble with things like images.

This function is effectively changing what people write, and WordPress should not have editorial control over the content of anyone’s blog.

The code was committed to WordPress without a Trac ticket, so it wasn’t left open to community discussion beforehand.

Matt’s responses seem to dismiss the very community of people that help make WordPress what it is.

Checkout the above source if you need links to have a look at the flame war.

Fixing the Capital_P_Dangit()

Open up your functions.php in your theme folder and add the following lines anywhere in the php, i.e before the closing ?>

remove_filter( 'the_content', 'capital_P_dangit' );
remove_filter( 'the_title', 'capital_P_dangit' );
remove_filter( 'comment_text', 'capital_P_dangit' );

One of the attractions of the WordPress blogging platform is its ability to be very easily monetized through advertising. Whether you use pay-per-click advertising, affiliate marketing, or your own system, there are many ways you can generate revenue from a WordPress blog.

Fortunately, the flexibility of the WordPress platform allows for the use of plugins that can make the implementation and management of advertising campaigns simple, and effective. Here nine of the best WordPress ad managing plugins that can successfully generate revenue from your website.

1. Float Ad

This WordPress plugin floats at the top of your blog pages and stays in place as you scroll down the page, making it constantly visible. The extra exposure of your ad will attract more clicks and convert more sales.

2. All in One Adsense and YPN

All in One Adsense and YPN works with Google’s Adsense ads and those from the Yahoo Publisher Network (which is soon to cease serving ads) to insert advertisements on the fly. No matter how many posts your blog contains, this plugin can handle advertising in them all. This plugin allows you to set where your ads are located on the page and customize them with HTML and CSS coding.

3. WP125

By allowing for the automatic scheduling of advertising starting and ending times, WP125 introduces a high level of automation for bloggers. This plugin also counts clicks and allows you to store old ads so they can be re-enabled when necessary. WP125 supports the use of 125×125 advertisements only.

4. Shantz Wordpress Prefix Suffix

This plugin lets you insert text, HTML, and CSS code before and after each blog post or page, letting you customize your advertising using text messages, links or image based messaging to drive traffic to your advertising partners.

5. Advertising Manager

For a full advertising solution that rotates AdSense advertising, as well as those from other networks, look no further than Advertising Manager. This plugin enforces the compliance with the pay-per-click rules while ensuring that all your ad campaigns are getting good exposure. Installing this plugin is a breeze with its import function and management for all the top advertising networks is built in. You can use Advertising Manager to place ads inside posts and pages or you can use its widget to insert ads into your WordPress sidebar.

6. Sponsor Ad Management

Sites that sell paid sponsorships will find Sponsor Ad Management to be a lifesaver. This plugin tracks performance and exposure of each ad. In fact, this plugin enables an entire framework for setting up and managing a sponsor ad campaign on one blog or across multiple blogs. You can configure advertising banners to operate in pay-per-click, pay-per-impression, or even pay-per day advertising models. This plugin features scheduling and many other customizable options that can make your advertising program a success.

7. WP Tag Ads

WP Tag Ads takes an innovative approach toward blog advertising by actually using your tags to promote eBay items (you must enroll in the eBay partner program for this to work). The plugin scans the content of your post or page and attempts to display relevant advertising from eBay’s network. This is a great way to implement and eBay sales campaign.

8. ISIS Ad Management

Add drag and drop functionality to your advertising efforts. With ISIS Ad Management you can order and reorder advertisements with your mouse, making the organization and maintenance of your advertising campaign an easy task. This is a widget-based plugin, so you can only use this if you have a widgetized WordPress theme in use.

9. OmniAds

OmniAds brings unprecedented flexibility to your WordPress advertising campaign. This plugin may be too complicated for some newbies, but moderate to advanced webmasters will appreciate the ability they have to use complicated syntax-based rules to fine tune their ads. This plugin allows admins to inject PHP and HTML snippets to govern the appearance of ads, while the plugin itself has powerful features such as referrer-based ad display that can enhance the revenue stream for any blog.

I know you guys probably know that already. I haven’t upgraded most of my blogs yet just because I don’t want to screw up anything.

(If you are upgrading, you would want to make your Theme WP 3.0 compatible, right? Here is what you would need.)

But today morning I just tried upgrading one of my BuddyPress installations since a plugin that I was trying out works only with WordPress 3.0. Back-ed up the database (you should too!), checked if the backup was working and did the automatic upgrade. Everything went smooth, I checked the homepage and boom! It reported a 404.

First idea on my mind was to roll back to WordPress 3.0. So I googled for some WordPress downgrading plugins. Fortunately or Unfortunately there are none. Any plugin developers reading this? You might want to make the First WordPress Downgrade Plugin.

Heck, I can code, I understand WordPress, why not fix the issue? And here it is, the work around.

Create a BuddyPress Page Template for the Activity Stream

You can create a BuddyPress page template on the theme just like we do it for WordPress. Here is an example of how to create and use a WordPress page template. Do the same, but with the code for the Activity Stream page. In the default theme the code for Activity Steam can be found under
bp-default/activity/index.php.

Copy that code into the new page template. If you are using the default WordPress theme, here is the page template I created. Just upload this to the
bp-default/
theme folder and use it.

Create a Activty Stream Page

Make sure the template is in the root folder. Create a new page. Name in Activity (name doesn’t matter). From the right sidebar of the new page editor, under Page Attributes, choose template as “Activity Page”.

Publish the page.

Make the Activity Stream as Front Page

Go to Settings > Reading Settings. Choose a Static Page to show on the front page and choose the page that we just created. (I named it Activity, so its listed there as Activity).

If everything was all right we would just have to choose the Activity Stream that you can see there.

Remove the Activity Page Listing from the Header Navbar.

Depending on your theme, your Navigation Menu would list pages or maybe not. The default theme lists pages, and the Activity Page we just created would be listed there as well. We don’t need that, right?

Open up header.php and you will see

<?php wp_list_pages( 'title_li=&depth=1' . bp_dtheme_page_on_front() ); ?>

Normally, adding en exclude (&exclude=10,73) parameter to wp_list_pages would work, but for some reason it didn’t work for me. I think its because that page is used as the front page. The exclude was working for other pages like the contact page etc. So I decided to hard code the pages (I only had two thankfully).

<li<?php if ( bp_is_page( 'about' ) ) : ?> class="selected"<?php endif; ?>>
<a href="http://ebtimes.org/about/" title="About">About</a>
</li>

Edit the above code as per your requirement and replace the wp_list_pages in header.php or use an exclude page plugin.

That’s it. Hopefully WP team would fix the issue soon. If you enjoyed the tutorial or need any clarification, let me know.

When it comes to the success of your blog – there is no way that you can achieve success by simply writing articles, posting them and then going offline. Today’s world is marketing oriented. Even if you write good quality content, you must have the ability to market them well.

It is important that you let people know that your blog exists since you cannot expect people to visit your blog when they are not even aware of it. Letting people know about your blog and talk about your blog is called generating buzz and that is done by smart marketing and a little bit of diligence.

Here are a few tips to generate buzz:

Guest Post Like a Mad Man

Write on your blog first – then quickly type out a lot of quality articles that every webmaster would like to have on their blog. Once you are ready with content – go submit your article to different authority blogs. This way you will find that more and more people become aware of your blog and its existence. Always try to target high-traffic blogs that can send a lot of readers your way.

Guest posting is a super-effective way of generating buzz – and at the same time most under used. You must guest post a lot – that means even 20 blogs each month if possible.

Get on the Blogroll/Top Commenter List

All blogs have a blogroll and these days almost all bloggers are also using the top commenters plugin. These show the link of your blog in the sidebar of the blog. So when a visitor is browsing that site then he could see your link and click on it.

Even if they do not click, they will definitely read the name of your blog and that is also generating buzz in a way as they will recognize you sub-consciously.

Email other Bloggers

You can always email other bloggers telling them your name and the blog where you write. You can add that you would like to stay in touch with them. Most bloggers would never mind this and would actually be open to network with you.

Try to go for medium to low level bloggers – avoid the biggies of blogging world. Just make sure that your email does not look spammy.

Blogger Meets

Attend blogger meets in your city or make a bloggers circle where you can meet other bloggers in person and help in spreading publicity about you and your blog. Indiblogger recently organized blogger meets all over India.

Hope you found this post useful to generate buzz about your blog. Do you have any other way to generate buzz?

The Author, Anil Gupta writes about interesting topics that will help you create lots of buzz and money from your blog like promoting facebook page, making money writing reviews with sponsored-reviews and generating lots of Google backlinks for your blog.

The post on Resuming Local Bank Withdrawals to India had this:

Other posts had Movie Download Links, Twitter Tools Links and the like. Some links like the movie download link blend so well into the content.

Looks like someone is drawing out links without taking down any posts so the authors still do not know of this. Or maybe they are selling paid links. Totally in-appropriate.

Time to have a look PayPal!

Update: PayPal have just removed some links, but not all. For instance, the Movie Download link is still in place. Looks like they are selling paid links.
