Do Justice. Love Mercy. Walk Humbly.

I've never had a Bible verse "speak to me".

Audibly that is.

But, I have had verses that I've read and been like "wowsers, I like that."

Below is one of those.

He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8

What I likeabout this verse is the KISS (Keep is Simple Stupid) factor. It's not hard to understand what's being said. The problem lies in doing it.

Like over and over.

Like everyday.

Now THAT...that is the hard part.

Finished my first duatholon in 56 minutes and some change. I didn't really know what a 'good' time for me would be, I was thinking under an hour, so got it.

I decided to take my Flip camera out for the race and record the ending.

Warning: If you get motion sick do NOT watch the video. It took me nearly an hour for the room to stop spinning after watching it.

Overall I enjoyed the race. I really need to work on the swimming part. That was killer.

All I Wanna Do Is Buy iFart App

I'm a PC guy first then a MAC guy second. I like em both but chose PC cause it's cheaper.

Bottom line.

So I love (understatement) my iPod Touch. I don't know how I did life without it.

Facebook, E-mail, Lux Touch, Converter Bot, Tweetdeck, Skype, NetNewsWire. Just to name a few of the 'must have' apps.

So, a co-worker showed me this fart application he has Fart for Free.

It's cool, it makes fart sounds. I downloaded it. I listen to the fart sounds.

They make my son laugh (wife too).

So, I decided I'd spend the 99 cents and purchase a much cooler fart app, iFart. Mainly cause iFart let's you do 'timed' farts.

Well, I go to download and it says 'you must upgrade to OS 3 (or whatever)'. For $10?

$10 isn't a lot of money, but it is money I don't want to spend. So I say screw it.

So all the fun I wanted to have with iFart is still a figment of my imagination for now.

Oh, I forgot I also went to buy this fishing game and it gave me the same upgrade thingy. Cmon now, help a brother out???

I Bought a Speedo

I've been training for a duathalon (swim and run). I'm not the world's best swimmer.

In fact, I suck.

But, I've been learning. Thanks to Coach Athen I have my freestyle stroke down (well, pretty well).

One thing that has been holding me back has been my bathing suit. You see I have this el cheepo from Kohl's that I've been wearing to swim in. It's nice for casual swims, but sucks for swimming lengths.

So, I bought a Speedo.

Today was day one and I think I liked it. Yes I look like a d-bag wearing it, but whatever I'm much faster now.

And for those of you wondering, I didn't buy th bikini cut Speedo, but what they call a Jammer (see pic below).

Springs Splash and Dash

I like new challenges. Some recent challenges I've tackled.

Fatherhood (still tackling).

Foster Parenting (startig to tackle).

Climb a 14er (tackled).

10k Run (tackled).

Eating an 8 pound burrito (still to be tackled).

One challenge I've been wanting to revist is a triathalon. I did a half triathalon a few years back and swore never to do one again. But, I have an itch to do one, so I'm gonna scratch it.

Today I signed up for the the Springs Splash and Dash. It's a 750 meter swim followed by a 3.75 mile run (little more than a 5k). My running is where it needs to be for this, but my swimming, well, it needs some work.

I have a few weeks to get the swimming part down. I figure even if I don't I'll still be able to do 750 meters (doggie paddle counts, right?).

So, there it is. Tackling another challenge on my List (you know the List of Things to Do Before You Die). If you don't have one, make one.

Last night was my last "unofficial" night with Youth for Christ. You see, my wife and I are becoming foster parents. I had a cut a few things out of my life, and Youth for Christ was one.

I'll miss it.

I've been volunteering with Youth for Christ for about 2 and a half years now. It's been fun, hard, sad, and every emotion in between. I have a love for the kids that "blew it" in life, maybe it's because I feel (well, I know) I'm one of them.

Anyway, we had a good time last night. I passed out a few Bibles to kids who earned them (long story). One kid ended up with a video. Many of you have seen Lifehouse's Everything skit, well, that's what he wanted.

We watched that one (again) and then decided to let the DVD play. There was another skit on there that was pretty touching, and pretty relevant for my life. Here it it.

I read quite a bit. Probably two books a month. Sometimes fiction, sometimes non-fiction.

I decided what I needed to do was be a little more strategic when picking what I read, thus this post.

Here are a list of books I need to read (as of 06/25/09). As I read them I will cross them off the list. If you have any books you think I need to read please post a comment with the title and author. I'll read pretty much everything (even read a Nicholas Sparks book a few months back, although I'll never admit to it.).

RIP VW Cabrio aka Caribou

It's an exciting, yet sad, day at the Ruman Household. You see we have traded in the Green VW Cabrio after four years of wonderful, yet embarrassing, years. The Cabrio has done well for our family, we're going to miss it. But, our family is growing and it was time to get a bigger vehicle (i.e. minivan).

There are so many great memories with the Cabrio. Here are just a few worth mentioning.

Lisa's "breakdown" on her move out to Colorado. It happened on a Saturday (when most auto shops are closed) and right in the middle of Nowhere, Iowa. Luckily Big Tony (her Dad) was there to save the day.

The infamous MMABuzz Video Blog (see video below...notice the speedometer)

The trip UP and DOWN Pike's Peak (thankfully I wasn't there to witness this one).

When I would pull up to a red light and have a guy pull up to me expecting to see a chick driving it. Sorrry buddy, it's just me, Mike.

The endless joking/making fun of I would get from driving it.

All-in-all it was a good car, and will be a good car for it's next owner. We wish them well, and hopefully they can make some wonderful memories of their own.
