		<description>Michigan became the 38th state in the union to ban smoking in most workplaces, which includes bars and restaurants.  This ban goes into effect on May 1, 2010.  There are a handful of exemptions, such as the gaming floors in Detroit&amp;#39;s three casinos.

		<description>&lt;p&gt;A new bill, &lt;a href="http://www.legislature.mi.gov/%28S%28ahlb2r45tulsarjw3i3flvqt%29%29/mileg.aspx?page=getObject&amp;#38;objectName=2009-HB-5676"&gt;HB 5676&lt;/a&gt;, has been introduced in the Michigan legislature to address the many problems with the state&amp;#8217;s indigent defense system. The bill was submitted by Rep. Bob Constan (D-Dearborn Heights) and cosponsored by Rep. Justin Amash (R-Kentwood).&lt;/p&gt;
