The Essex House Hotel located on Collins Avenue is one of Iconic Postcard Hotels of South Beach. With its friendly staff, spacious rooms and delightful Art Deco Decor, the Essex House hotel promotes itself as an “oasis of calm.” This hotel has 80 rooms, but do to it’s location none of the rooms have a view of Miami Beach. There is an onsite pool, although it is on the small side. You can access Miami Beach via a 10 minute walk down 10th street. The Essex House is owned by the same company that owns the The Clevelander just across the street. Guests of the Essex House are allowed to use the pool and other facilities at The Clevelander. If you don’t mind walking across the street this is a great way to have access to more hotel amenities at a lower price. The biggest selling point for this hotel is it’s Central Location to the South Beach nightlife. Some of the best nightclubs and restaurants will be within walking distance. The downside to this, is it tends to get very noisy at night, and stays noisy. The rates for this hotel are excellent for the location making this one of our Discount Hotels. The Four Star Rating and great amenities, also make it one of our top Value Hotels. This hotel also gets higher ratings from couples, making it one of our Romantic Hotel choices. This hotel is not pet friendly and we wouldn’t consider it a family friendly hotel. This hotel is best suited for people who want to stay in the middle of all the South Beach nightlife, don’t mind walking to the beach, or to the larger pool at the Clevelander. The Beacon Hotel is an iconic Art Deco Hotel located in the Ocean Drive. If you’re thinking about staying in one of the “postcard hotels” be aware that the rooms and bathrooms are going to be smaller than you are used to. The common areas of this hotel are all well maintained and have a funky eclectic style to them. While the rooms are on the small side, everything looks like it’s been updated.

Aside from its classic facade one of the best things about this hotel is it’s centrally located in the heart of South Beach. It’s within walking distance for many of the most popular Miami Beach restaurants and nightclubs. The downside of being in the middle of everything is that it can get really noisy at night, and stay noisy later than you would expect. Another great thing about this hotel is its proximity to Miami Beach. The beach is located right across Ocean Drive so it shouldn’t take you more than 2-3 minutes to walk there. There is no pool at this facility. During the busier times of the year a Rooftop Bar is open. If you are looking for a South Beach experience, and don’t mind a little noise at night, or having to walk across the street to get to the beach, the Beacon is a great choice.

The 250-room Nautilus Hotel provides a distinctive experience for travelers looking to stay in Central South Beach. This hotel manages to have a retro charm while still having modern furnishings and amenities that today’s guests are looking for. The Nautilus is located on the northern part of South Beach, two blocks from the Miami Beach Convention Center and a 15 minute walk from Lincoln Road Shopping . Due to its location it can get a little noisy here at, night but it’s nowhere near as bad as Ocean Drive area. The Nautilus has an onsite pool which is typical of the hotels in South Beach, and Cabanas are available for rental. This is an Oceanfront Hotel connected to Miami Beach via a paved walkway at the rear of the property. This hotel has an onsite Day Spa and Fitness Center. This hotel is not pet friendly. We rated this a Four Star Hotel making it great choice for someone looking for South Beach vacation experience. This hotel is best suited for someone who wants to stay in South Beach, close to the restaurants and nightlife, but not feel like they are on wild Spring Break vacation. The Clevelander is one South Beach’s top party destinations, it’s Central South Beach Location, nearly all day entertainment, and one of the Best Pools in Miami Beach make this a top choice for people who want to have a South Beach party vacation. The Clevelander is located on Ocean Drive across the street from Miami Beach. It has a pool on site that allows Topless Sunbathing. This is an Adults Only Hotel and is not a destination to consider for a family vacation. This hotel also has two Rooftop Sundecks that overlook the pool. There aren’t a lot of extra amenities at this hotel, no fitness center, no day spa, and a tiny business center that isn’t free. The lack of amenities, however, does keep the room rates reasonable for its location, making this a Value Hotel choice.

Clevelander Hotel Rooms

The Clevelander is Boutique Hotel located in the heart of South Beach. This hotel has 60 rooms, with a very minimalist decor. The rooms are smaller than your normal hotel room, but average for the South Beach area. The bathrooms are tiny, it’s impossible for more than one person to be in the bathroom getting ready for a night out. There are four different room types: Classic, Pool View, Ocean View, and Rockstar Suite. The first four room types are similar in size, they just vary based on what they give a view of and how noisy they are. Classic Rooms don’t have a view and are by far the quietest choice. Pool View Rooms are the noisiest throughout the entire day and late into the night. If there’s an event or party going on at the pool there’s no way you’re getting any sleep. All of the beds have high-quality linens, and the bathroom products are very high quality. All of the guest areas have free Wi-Fi, and the rooms have large flat screen TVs. There’s no refrigerator, no minibar, no coffee machine and no safe in the rooms.

• Classic Hotel Room – A cozy 180 square foot room with two double beds that can accommodate four guests. These rooms have no windows but are the quietest.
• Pool View Hotel Room – A 200 square foot room that overlooks the Clevelander’s famous pool. This room has two double beds that can accommodate four guests. These rooms are the noisiest.
• Ocean View Hotel Room – A 260 square foot room that looks out onto Miami Beach. This room comes with either a single king sized bed or two double beds, sleeping either 2 or 4 guests. These rooms are only moderately noisy.
• Rockstar Suite Hotel Room – A 330 square foot room that features a king sized bed. These rooms look out onto Ocean Drive and Miami Beach.

Clevelander Beach and Pool Access

The Pool at The Clevelander is the center of party every-day. There’s usually a DJ playing music, and most nights have a themed party event going on. The pool itself is a bit on the small side, and at busy times of the year, the pool area can get really crowded. There are also two roof top sundecks with bars which is where a lot of party action takes place. There are lounge chairs and oversized outdoor beds available for rental. For the more adventurous guests, topless sunbathing is allowed. A waitstaff services the main pool and two sundecks.

The Clevelander is located on Ocean Drive which is just across the street from Miami Beach. Independent vendors are stationed up and down the beach for umbrella and chair rentals. There are also vendors who sell water, soft drinks and an extremely small selection of snacks. The hotel waitstaff does not service the beach.

Located on Ocean Drive across the street from Miami Beach, this Iconic Postcard Hotel is located in the heart of South Beach. The Colony Hotel offers 50 clean rooms with surprisingly modern furnishings for a very reasonable price. Ocean View Suites facing Miami Beach offer a spectacular view. The staff at this hotel gets mixed reviews with many people commenting they seem disinterested. There is a restaurant on site however the prices are astronomical, even by South Beach standards. The hotel’s furnishings were unexpectedly modern and updated, and blend nicely with the Latin American decor and tropical feel of the hotel. However, while the location is stellar, it does have it’s drawbacks. Being located in the middle of the party scene it’s a noisy spot, and it stays noisy well into the night. The hotel has an extremely active bar, the drinks are huge fishbowl-sized glasses and the hotel’s bartenders do a great job. Recommended mostly for short stays, the Colony is ideal for people who won’t mind walking across the street to get to the beach, and have come to South Beach to stay at a Party Hotel. This hotel is not pet friendly, and it’s definitely not reccomended for families. It’s a surprisngly good value choice considering it’s Central Location. If you can’t get a room here consider the Majestic, Pelican, or Congress as alternatives.

The Breakwater Hotel is an Art Deco Hotel located in the heart of South Beach. This hotel’s central location is one of it’s strongest selling points, it’s located on Collins Avenue directly across the street from Miami Beach. It’s within walking distance of many of the most popular restaurants and Miami Beach Nightclubs. The downside is at night it can sometimes seem rather noisy. This hotel has a Rooftop Bar, although it’s only open seasonaly. The entire hotel has a very modern design aestheticThe rooms are larger than your typical South Beach hotel, and the syling is minimalist and crisp. If you don’t mind having to walk across the street to get to the beach, this hotel is great choice.

The Delano Hotel is best suited for guests who want a luxury hotel in the heart of Central South Beach connected directly to Miami Beach. It’s not as much of a party hotel as The Clevelander, but on most nights the Infinity Pool hosts a DJ with music well into the night. This isn’t the best hotel choice for a family vacation.

The Delano is an Iconic South Beach Hotel. It’s located on Collins Avenue and is an Oceanfront Hotel connected directly to the Miami Beach Boardwalk and Miami Beach. The Delano has an Infinity Pool that is considered one of the Best Pools in Miami Beach. The Delano does allow topless sunbathing so it’s not the best choice for a family vacation. The Delano is on the Best Pools in Miami Beach. It’s an infinity pool that is called a water salon because music is played underwater. The Delano is also one of the few pools that allow topless sunbathing something to keep in mind if you are traveling with a family. During the day it’s a guests only event with a DJ. At night it becomes a pool party open to the general public and is quite a party scene. Drinks are available but they are pricey. Private cabanas are also available for rental.The Delano has direct access to Miami Beach via a walkway at the back of the property. Miami Beach is a public beach so you will be competing for space during the busier times of the year. You can ask a pool attendant to bring you a lounge chair to the beach at no charge. The Marlin Hotel is an upscale Art Deco Hotel located in Central South Beach. This Iconic Hotel is located on Collins Avenue within walking distance some of the hottest Restaurants and Nightlife. This Boutique Hotel has 33 rooms that recently underwent renovation. The hotel common areas have have a modern but subdued style and the guest rooms feature soothing neutral earth tones. The staff here consistantly get high marks making this one of our Four Star Hotels. The biggest obstacles preventing guests from selecting this exceptional hotel are it’s lack of a pool and beach access. There is no pool onsite, not even one of the tiny South Beach sized ones. To get to Miami Beach you need to make a 10 minute walk down 12th Street. This hotel is Pet Friendly but is not family friendly. This hotel is best suited for someone who wants to be in Central South Beach but isn’t going to mind the lack of pool or walking to the beach. Hotels similar to this would include The Raleigh, Impala Hotel, or The Leslie.

This hotel is not pet friendly, and there aren’t any activities to keep smaller family members entertained. This hotel is best suited for someone looking for a Value Hotel that’s in South Beach and doesn’t mind not having a pool or walking to the beach. Stone crab claws are the most popular item on the menu served with a specialty mustard sauce, which is made specifically for the crab claws. Orders come on a large platter stacked decoratively and a pair of cracking utensils. Diners can also experience such wonders as the shrimp cocktail, Rhode Island Calamari and a half Maine Lobster for starters and work their way up to a delicious meal of lobster Rolls or sirloin burgers and their famous fried chicken sandwiches. Joe’s Stone Crab restaurant also has a signature dessert for sweet lovers; its Key Lime Pie is famous for its magnificent taste and wonderful consistency.

The restaurant is well known by famous actors and celebrities who frequent Miami Beach, each starting or ending their visit with a stop at Joe’s Stone Crab restaurant. Film directors have also been known to meet with clients for lunch or dinner at this family owned establishment. They may even order food for their cast, as the city of Miami has become an alluring filming location.
