Friday (tomorrow!) night and Saturday I will be among over 60 crafters and artists rockin’ Twist Fair at the Northampton Center for the Arts in Northampton, MA. If you’re in the Noho area, you should definitely check it out!  This fair does not let down. A DJ, beer from The People’s Pint, and awesome handmade goodies to pick out for your loved ones. Does it get better than that?

Making some progress on the house front.  We transformed a dark-stained, curvy-edged frump of a free table into a clean, sleek, white-topped beauty. We’re still in the process of stripping the 6 old school chairs I scored for $5 each. Raw steel hairpin legs by Ian McLean, pendant from Ikea.

This house is the reason we went through six months of heck, high water, and living with my parents. All the ugliness and difficulty of fighting to buy this place (a foreclosure) is behind us now. We closed in April, and have been living here for just over a month. Stay tuned for some before and afters of our projects.

Twist was a week ago now, but I’m still running on the adrenaline of a fun show. If you missed this one, Next Twist will be in November, so stay tuned.

Here’s a peek at a piece that will be exhibited at Worcester Art Museum during Art All-State 09 in May.

Made with felted wool, the individual forms initially reminded me of barnacles, but now look more like moss.  I’d like to eventually make enough for a large wall installation.

Skiing was not in the weather cards this weekend, so my brother, husband and I went to see Tara Donovan’s work at the ICA in Boston yesterday. I’ve been a big fan ever since Abbey pointed her work out to me a couple of years ago. She transforms simple, common materials and objects in to  works that get even non-arty or museum-y people looking closely. The show closes this Sunday, but if you’re in the area of Boston before Jan 4th, check it out!

The reason for so few (read: zero) posts these days is that my husband and I have been in a long (about 2 month) process of trying to close on our first house. In the meantime, our apartment has been rented so we had to pack up our home and studios to take temporary residence with my parents.  Now my brother has been in town for Christmas so we are getting to enjoying an extended togethery time like we haven’t had since we were small.  These shots are from around my parents house during last week snow storm.
