Help Wanted at Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program

Program Director

Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP) is a non profit agency in Brunswick, Maine, whose mission is to "reduce hunger by providing food assistance, sustainable living education and referral services to those living at or below poverty in the greater Brunswick area." With the help of over 130 volunteers a week we run a Food Bank, Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, Sustainable Living Education clinics, a Reaching Elders program, Summer Feeding Program and staff the Food Security Coalition of Mid Coast Maine.

We are currently looking to hire a Program Director. This position is a 25-hour per week position. Pay range: $14 - $16 per hour.

The Program Director is responsible for oversight of all programs to ensure that clients' needs are met in an efficient and effective manner. The Program Director will supervise all Program Coordinators and ensure that each program has the resources necessary to meet the program needs. The Program Director will also assist the Executive Director in planning and analysis, as well as administrative functions.

Successful candidates will have supervisory experience, be proficient in Word, Excel and Access, have analytical and planning skills, be detail oriented, and be able to be flexible and work as a team member as well as independently. (See below for complete job description.)

Program Oversight
• Oversee programs to ensure that clients’ needs are met in an efficient and effective manner.
• Supervise Program Coordinators.
• Ensure that each program has resources available to meet program needs.
• Maintain inventory of all food stuffs including food in house, in storage and incoming donations.
• Coordinate purchasing of food from Good Shepherd Food Bank, Sam’s club, etc.
• Supervise distribution of food, when necessary, to other food banks/food pantries.
• Perform duties of Program Coordinators in their absence.
• Manage communication to and training of volunteers including producing monthly volunteer newsletter.
• Manage day to day activity of the Agency in the Executive Director’s absence.

Planning & Analysis
• Assist in development of Annual Plan, Development Plan, Communications Plan, etc.
• Perform annual analysis of client demand vs. agency capacity.
• Prepare monthly reports regarding program activity.
• Perform analysis for special projects when needed.

Administration
• Record daily receipts and prepare for Administrative Assistant to process.
• Maintain agency library including any press received by the agency, and articles pertinent to agency operations and clients’ needs.
• Serve as Clerk of the Board, taking minutes during Board meetings. Maintain Board of Directors’ information for the agency including monthly Board packets and other planning documents.
• Establish and maintain a filing system for the Executive Director’s office.
• Edit Executive Director’s correspondence including proposals, reports, newsletters, letters, etc.
• Assist in agency mailings and other administrative tasks when needed.
