{{GL}}

Be it you are an amateur, a begineer, hobbyist, freelance photographer or a professional photographer, there may be a certain time when you have decided to part with your current camera body or lens to raise fund for an upgrade or other needs.

We are going to talk about how to effectively sell your camera equipments be it your high end camera body or your entry level wide angle lens via online marketplace or your local forum listing.

Generally, you will need to post the following information:

Details of the product - item condition, warranty details and previous usage

Dealing method - cash on delivery or shipping only and your contact information

Selling price

To ensure that your post stood out of the other users. here are the Top 4 Tips for effective selling:

Top 4: Price that equipment

Top 3: Offer that personal warranty

Top 2: Sample Photos taken by your equipment

Top 1: High Resolution Photos of your equipment

Top 1: High Resolution Photos of your equipement

How does the actual product looks like is the most crucial piece of information to attract the your potential buyer’s attention. The moment they look into your post, they are expecting to view as many photos of your camera body or lens as possible.

People love looking at high resolution photos so that they can decide if it is worth contacting you to look at the actual product. Should the marketplace or forum that you are posting only allow embedding medium size photos, try to host your high resolution at free photo hosting websites like photobucket then link it to your post.

Your potential buyer is looking for high resolution photos of the following:

Exterior look of the actual product that you are selling, not an image taken from the official product page.

If it is a lens, it is best to show the close-up photos of the front glass and the rear area. Of couse the overall outlook of the lens too.

If it is a camera body, it is best to photograph the front and back, the LCD area when powered on and also close-up photo of the mounting area.

Be honest and take close-up photo should there is any cosmetic issue with the item. Such as skin peeling for lens, dent on part of the camera’s body or lens and used marks.

Hotshoe Peeling on a camera (Credit: bunegg)

Top 2: Sample Photos taken by your equipment

Photo speaks a thousand words. Posting or linking actual size photos taken with the camera body or lens will allow potential buyer to determine if that is the lens that he or she is looking for.

It is best to post photos which are straight out of camera, with no post processing at all. In addition, it is important to show the EXIF information too.

Remember to post sample photos which show off the capability of the lens.

Marco Lens (60mm f2.8 macro): Post a close up shot of a bug, showing all the details

Telephoto Lens (70-200mm f2.8): Upload a photo taken at the furthest zoom, i.e. 200mm

Portrait Lens (85mm f1.4): Show off the bokeh or a model’s face shot

Landscape Lens (14-24mm f2.8): A photo taken at the widest, 14mm, range will best show the lens’ wideness.

A close up of a Baboob Spider (© Photographer: Poco_bw | Agency: Dreamstime.com)

Top 3: Offer that personal warranty

A personal warranty offered by you can definitely boost the confidence of your potential buyer. Personally, I encourage a 7 days personal warranty again manufacturer defects, even though the item may still be within the limited warranty period by the manufacturer. Most of the time, this one of the key points that your potential buyer look into if they are interested to buy your item.

Be confident with your equipment and offer a personal warranty (© Photographer: Filmfoto | Agency: Dreamstime.com)

There may be other people like you selling the same item and offering similar price. You stand out of the crowd as you have the confidence in your item by providing a personal warranty.

Top 4: Price it

Always state your intended selling price. Your potential buyer would prefer to close deal as soon as possible just like you. Buyers prefer to negotiate with sellers who post their intended selling price than those who do not. This will also reduce negotiating time as less exchange of Private Messages (PM) or SMSes are necessary.

State your intended setting price. (© Photographer: Jaeeho | Agency: Dreamstime.com)

Sellers who prefer to receive offers from potential buyers are generally not too sure if they actually want to sell their equipment. The desire to let go is not convincing. Think about yourself as a potential buyer, will you prefer to contact seller who does not state the price or otherwise. Therefore, price it if you really want to sell it and be reasonable!

Potential buyers prefer to deal with seller who are honest. If you are including other item such as the box, user guide and accessories into the package, it is worth taking a photo of all those items too.

Conclusion

To summarize up, post sufficient photos for your equipment and the sample photos taken, offer a personal warranty and quote a selling price.

We hope the above is information willl be able to assist you in selling your camera equipments.
I received a screenshot of a feed by CNET, with the title "Nikon updates entry dSLR and lenses". Together with the screenshot, a hyperlink is also included. However, there were no news on that link. They may have pulled off or scheduled for a later release.

While the Nikon D3100 is everything but official, Canon speculated 60D is said to be in the wild. The 60D, potential replacement for Canon 50D, is spotted with a swivel screen.

Nikon D800 Specification Revealed?

{{GL}}

It is about time that the widely spread Nikon D800 rumor becomes a fact.

The D700 was introduced on July 2008 equipped with Nikon's 12.1 megapixel FX-format (23.9 mm × 36 mm) CMOS sensor boosting excellent low light performance. It has since been more than two years and a successor is really what professionals and enthusiast photographers are craving for.

Nikon D800 Front Look with Nikkor AF 50mm F1.4 (Credit: yesky.com)

The speculated specification for the Nikon D800 are as follow:

Sensor Size: 35.9 × 24mm CMOS

Effective pixels: 24.6MP

Maximum resolution: 6048 × 4032

Continuous shooting: 7 / sec ? Display size : 3-inch 920,000-pixel LCD screen

High Definition Recording supporting1920×1080 @24fps

Nikon Multi-CAM 3500FX AF of 51 points

ISO 200-6400 - 1 / 3, 1 / 2 or 1 EV step adjustment; below ISO 200 and up to 25600

Nikon seems to realize that it is necessary for camera resolution to go beyond the 12 Megapixel limit this time. Most of its camera lineup are equipped with a 12 Megapixel sensor except the NIkon D3x.

The continuous shooting speed is said to be at 7 frames per second, 2 frames per second faster than the D700, will the additional battery pack allows it to shoot faster is unknown for now.

Overall, the specification seems to be similar to the Nikon D700 with the exception of the image sensor and 1080 High Definition recording capability and continuous shoot.

How much who you think this will cost? A photography tool which does 24 Megapixel in photo quality and shoots at 7 frames per second, how much are you willing to pay?

Do you think this will be a worth it upgrade from a D700?

Many thanks to all who sent this in.

The new D3100 is expected to have enhanced object recognition, better in-camera menu and shall cost around USD$1,000.
