Almost always under the pseudonym of “Almapropia”, sometimes my work takes my name, especially when related to more conceptual pieces, as the series presented here: EMBUDOS DEL ALMA / SOUL’S FUNNELS.

I’m an industrial designer for furniture and the fashion industry.

Searching for a field and a world where I could create, imagine and communicate everything I ever wanted, I got into the jewelry world… A world without rules and without the strong restraints as those imposed by the commercial and industrial world.

Besides adorning the body, for me jewelry constitutes a communicating act… that holds a memory and connects the soul to the world…

Regarding jewelry, I see it as perfect tridimensional field, multidisciplinary and apt to bond different worlds, views; aesthetic, constructing objects, design methods, concepts and the intimate act of communicating…

Objects perceived as jewels… or jewels seen as objects… The order doesn´t matter… in the end, it doesn’t matter, it´s the result: objects and pieces with their own soul, with ALMAPROPIA.

What I am looking to communicate with my work:

…Capacity as a memory container… that memory that fulfills the soul.

…Pieces narrating my way of understanding and seeing the world…

…My philosophy… Making possible everything that’s imagined, dreamed, thought or felt…

Mi trabajo está casi siempre bajo un seudónimo o marca, “Almapropia”; aunque en algunos casos, cuando son piezas más conceptuales, están bajo mi nombre, como esta serie que presento: “EMBUDOS DEL ALMA

Soy diseñadora industrial, con experiencia en mobiliario y empresas de moda.

Llegué al mundo de la joyería buscando un campo y un mundo donde pudiera crear, imaginar y comunicar cuanto quisiera… sin reglas y sin requerimientos tan fuertes como los que te obliga el mundo industrial y comercial.

La joyería para mí, además de tener como función principal adornar el cuerpo, es un acto de comunicación… que contiene memoria y vincula el alma con el mundo…

Veo la joyería como el campo tridimensional perfecto, multidisciplinario y apto para unir múltiples mundos, visiones; construcción de objetos, estética, métodos de diseño, conceptos y el acto íntimo de comunicar… Objetos que tienen carácter de joyas… o joyas con carácter de objetos… No importa el orden…  al final, el resultado: objetos y piezas con ALMAPROPIA.

Busco expresar con mi obra:

…La capacidad de contener memoria… esa memoria de la que tenemos llena el alma.

…Piezas que narran mi manera de entender y ver el mundo…

…Mi filosofía… Hacer posible todo cuanto se imagina, se sueña, se piensa, se siente…

1. Insectos

First project as a beginner in the field of contemporary art jewelry.

Started only with flies, little by little other animals have joined this INSECTARIUM.

Old and recent work.

Animals, flies, beetles, they’re my own way of handling phobias… A fly in an insect that produces repulsion in most of the people… What I intended with them… To expose you to them and force you to experience that feeling of rejecting their sight, but at the same time, wanting to wear them, to look at them… and why not, considering them beautiful. It is just those contradictory impressions… they make you curious… and at the same time, you repulse them.

Este proyecto es con el cual inicié mi actividad con la joyería de autor.

Comencé con las moscas y poco a poco he ido aumentando los animales en este INSECTARIO.

Hay piezas desarrolladas de hace algún tiempo como otras muy recientes de este año.

Las moscas, los escarabajos o animales son mi forma de trabajar las fobias… La mosca es un animal al que la mayoría de las personas le tienen repugnancia… y yo quería con ellas…. exponerte a ellas, a sentir esa sensación de no querer verla, y al mismo tiempo usarla, mirarla… y, por qué no, verla bella.

Son esas sensaciones contradictorias.. que te producen curiosidad… y al mismo tiempo repulsión.

First work with porcelain… a material that has been brought to my attention due to its hardness and it fragility within, its color, etc.

The theme for this project is a slightly ironic look to women’s dream about marriage, prince charming and the ring… this dream belonging to collective imagination puts women under social and emotional pressure… It is an irony to the brilliant and the diamond…

A porcelain DIAMOND… as big as you want it… and without a prince for you to have it, to dream about it…

It is working on a symbol and a jewelry archetype: the diamond cutting, also related to marriage, dreams and feminine souls… done in a material such as porcelain… so fragile, so hard… so pure…

Con este proyecto inicié mi trabajo con la porcelana…. un material que en sí mismo me ha llamado la atención por la dureza y fragilidad que conviven en ella, su color, etc.

El tema de este proyecto es una mirada un poco irónica al sueño de las mujeres con el matrimonio, el sueño del príncipe con su anillo….este sueño que hace parte de un imaginario colectivo y que al mismo tiempo genera presión social, emocional a las mujeres… es una ironía al diamante, al brillante…

UN DIAMANTE de porcelana.. tan grande como lo desees… y no es necesario tener un príncipe para tenerlo, para soñarlo..…

Es un trabajo sobre un símbolo y el arquetipo de la joyería: la talla brillante, que a su vez tiene una connotación con el matrimonio, los sueños y las almas femeninas… en un material como la porcelana …tan frágil, tan duro… tan puro…

3. Embudos del Alma

Who’s seen its own soul?… Nevertheless we believe we have one!

We feel it, we think we know it, even some think it is as big as it could leave the body.

About the soul almost everything has been said… what if it lives inside our bodies, if it is that little voice that talks to us, what if it is in the head, in my chest, in my navel… or is it in the heart?

In the end… it is just knowing it is there!… It is a leap of FAITH.

My soul and your soul, each has all the memories, it has everything about me, and it has everything about you, it has my journeys, my truths, my pain engraved… And from there soul’s funnels arouse.

Funnels… Expansive or constrictive journeys loaded with harmony or chaos… Channels through where we flow and the soul changes from one state to another… We move from a state of infinite peace to one of uneasiness, from mess and machinations to a state of happiness and serenity… Infinite funnels enter to the soul and leave the soul…

How many times the wide side is for me and the narrow one for you, and how many times the wide side is for you and the narrow one for me.

¿Quién ha visto su alma?…. Pero aun así, ¡creemos que la tenemos!

La sentimos, creemos conocerla, creemos contenerla o algunos pueden creer que es tan grande que sale del cuerpo.

Sobre el alma todo se ha dicho… si está en el cuerpo, si es esa voz que nos habla, si está en la cabeza, en mi pecho, en mi ombligo… o ¿está en el corazón?

Pero al final….. solo sabemos que está ¡ahí!… Es un acto de FE.

Mi alma y tu alma, cada una  tiene todas sus memorias, tiene todo de mí, tiene todo de ti, tiene grabados mis trayectos, mis verdades, mis dolores… Y de allí es que salen los EMBUDOS DEL ALMA.

Los embudos …Trayectos cargados de armonía o caos, expansivos o constrictivos…. Canales por donde fluimos y el alma va pasando de estado en estado… Pasamos de estados de infinita paz a estados de intranquilidad, de enredos y engaños a estados de felicidad y tranquilidad… Al alma entran y del alma salen infinitos embudos…

Cuantas veces lo ancho para mí y lo estrecho para ti o cuantas veces lo ancho para ti y lo estrecho para mí.

La Paula Estrada Matyášová presenta fins el 31 de juliol el seu projecte “Embudos del Alma” a la galeria Amaranto Joies de Barcelona. Adele Brereton’s work is based upon the traditional Silversmithing technique of Hand Raising, where a flat sheet of metal is hammered into a hollow form. Inspiration is drawn both from archaeological artefacts and interesting forms and textures found in nature. Using Silver and Gold, these hand raised elements are often combined with hand carved wood, creating one off pieces that are both organic and tactile.

Her work at the Museum of London Archives has indulged a fascination with historical objects and inspired her to unearth her own artefacts. Adele’s new collection explores the use of found objects including pieces of glass and pottery. Explorations at the River Thames have translated into a curiosity for new materials, playing with the contrasts of the natural and man-made. A link is forged with her local industrial landscape, combining stainless steel with precious materials and washed up remnants of the past.
