[Traffic Source] Mochi Media & MindJolt = Great for Downloads

Want to know a great source of traffic for offers such as GameVance and iWon? Well signup for Mochi Media. I never hear people talk about this traffic source. It’s so straight forward: self-serve platform, targeting gaming users, low budget requirements.

… Or do one better and talk to my buddy Aber at MindJolt for a direct buy.

Ignighter Must Mean “Dead Pages”

Ignighter has gone through a lot of changes with their site, from trying something original, to copying SinglesNet to now focusing on India (6 positions in India)… the least they can do is redirect popular pages properly.

If you search for Ignighter.com on Google you’ll find top results that now just go to “404 - Does not exist” pages.

Firefox - Not Feelin’ Lucky

Is this new? If you go to Google.com directly the “I’m Feeling Lucky” is still there…

It looks like the product manager in-charge of bing.com likes knowing how many users bookmark Bing. Super-smart. As a consultant I’ve suggested some variation of this to nearly all of my clients…

One thing about tracking if someone has bookmarked your website is that you need a seperate URL. One could measure referring URLs that are blank/null but that is not 100% because not all browsers forward the referring url (and users may type the URL directly in their browser chrome).

Will The New Facebook Photos Be Good for Advertisers?

Facebook recently released a new version of Photos. One interesting thing is there is only on ad per page (versus four). This could be good for advertisers as there as less ads to compete with. The only problem I see is that ads have gone from the right hand column to the right hand corner (at the bottom) of the page.

Match.com Buys OkCupid at 10x Evaluation

Match.com recently acquried free online dating site OkCupid for 50M in cash plus additional earn-out bonuses. Rumor is that OkCupid was only making 4M-5M a year which means that they were acquired for over 10x their revenue… not too bad.

To my knowledge this is the largest evaluation Match.com has ever given a company upon acquisition (I heard SinglesNet and People Media were between 1x-3x multiples).

Facebook Upgrades Ads Interface

What is really cool is the featured stories opening up for everyone. Essentially homepage exposure bought via self-serve.
