Nothing better than creamy shadows, some are better than others though. One of my favorites is NARS Cream Shadow. You can apply it with your fingers or with a brush (I prefer this method). Some people claim that it creases BUT if you use a brush you will pick up less product avoiding the creasing. This is a cream to powder formula just like my other favorite The Multiple so as long as you get the applications right, you will have a crease and streak free look.

This shades are ultra-pigmented just like their powder sisters…with a lightweight texture, transparent in application. This soft-blending formula can be worn alone or layered under a powder shadow.

Paula (who is married to R&B crooner Robin Thicke) ALWAYS looks pretty and what I like to call “bright eyed“. I am a sucker for fragrances bottom line…especially creamy florals.  The latest from the veterans at Helena Rubenstein is called All You’ve Ever Wanted and is inspired by Demi Moore.  Demi looks AMAZING in the ads, if you follow her husband Ashton on twitter, he tweeted a video of the photo shoot a while back (which I am assuming he should not have been making public since the fragrance had not even been announced…LOL)

Okay not just Blackerry, but iPhone or any other hands free device.  We use our hands so much more these days for everything from texting to hailing a cab.  Nail looks are getting more and more sophisticated as those needs grow.  I don’t know about you, but I spend WAY more time on my nails than I used to. The latest trends in nails are funky and more fashionable than just a regular manicure.  Winter 2009 nail polish trends are centered around dark tones, deep plums and wines, grey, charcoal and bottomless blues. Metallic accents complete the look. This season’s colors reflect the boldness of fashion driven women who are risk takers. Enter, the “BlackBerry Bling.”

Dawn Sterling, creator of the “BlackBerry Bling” and lead technician at the Carol’s Daughter Back Room Hand & Foot Spa says, “The BlackBerry Bling will be hot this season because everyone has a BlackBerry, if you don’t, you’ve got something that you’re texting and emailing on all day – with your thumbs. Since your thumbs are always in sight they’ve become a huge fashion accessory.” Dawn says that manicures have evolved from a simple grooming ritual to fashion accessory. “Nails were huge during Fashion Week this Fall and people were paying more attention to nail trends than ever before. Want to achieve the “BlackBerry Bling” from home? “It’s all in the product and application,” Dawn explains. “Some polishes apply differently from others; you have to know which ones go on even without having to apply multiple coats. Know the brand and take your time to apply correctly.”

SEVEN SIMPLE STEPS TO ACHIEVING THE BLACKBERRY BLING

1. Start with an exfoliating hand treatment like the Carol’s Daughter Lemon Ginger Mint Manicure. This will soften any dead callused skin around the hands leaving them silky smooth. Follow with the Carol’s Daughter Lemon & Rose Hand Cream to lock in the moisture.
2. Choose your polish. For a base color, Dawn suggests colors like ‘Kaleidoscope’ by Chanel, ‘Mink Muffs’ by Essie or ‘Knight Storm’ by M2M. For some sparkle, try ‘Star Burst’ by M2M.
3. Start by applying a base coat like Essie First Base Base Coat to all nails.
4. Apply a matte nail color to fingers, excluding the index finger and thumb. (Dawn says you can turn your favorite shade into a matte shade by applying Essie Matte About You Matte Finisher.)
5. Apply a metallic polish of your choice to remaining unpolished nails.
6. Apply a second coat on each nail, and allow three to five minutes to dry.
7. Finish with a top coat. Dawn recommends Essie Super Dry Top Coat.

I must admit, I never tried Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara.  Remember last year, the mascara with the revolutionary “ball wand”??  Well , I tried to get it….but every time I went to Sephora, they were sold out etc. etc. etc., so I stopped trying to get it!  LOL.  Well, looks like I needn’t have to worry because L’Oreal has beat everyone to the punch with their lower priced version.  The Givenchy version retails for $28 (ouch!) while L’Oreal’s Telescopic Explosion Mascara retails for less than $10.

“The first mascara at mass with a spherical brush and smooth formula to lengthen and separate every lash. Creamy formula works with the unique patented brush to build quickly, leaving a flexible deposit of color.“

There is no disputing that the wand is a great idea, you can get all the little lashes in the corner…but be careful with your application as it can get clumpy on the second coat (I would wipe the wand off a bit before you apply).  The mascara is great for lengthening and defining lashes..I actually tried this two ways.  First, I used it all over (again, wipe the brush off before the second coat to avoid clumps) and just in the corners to get the hard to reach lashes.  Both ways were effective…so it basically boils down to patience.  If you a re going ot use this all over then you have to be patient.  The wand is easy to use BUT has a tendency to pick up too much product (hence the clumping).  For under $10, it’s definitely worth a try….as I LOVE the little brush and L’Oreal’s mascaras are fantastic anyway.

Honestly, you could use these on your hair too ladies (many stylists used this backstage at  the NYFW S/S 2010 shows for everything from slicking down ponytails to short do’s), but the scent in Aveda Light Elements Shaping Wax and Defining Whip is very herbal (many ladies aren’t too keen on that) so guys, don’t be shy….get your hair together!

Big news!! MAC has new Viva Glam Ambassadors!  It was announced today that Cyndi Lauper and Lady Gaga have been named the latest faces of the MAC AIDS Fund.  According to today’s Women’s Wear Daily, the newest campaign, “From Our Lips,” will break on February 25. MAC Viva Glam Gaga Lipstick and Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick will launch in North America on March 18 and will go global after that, with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the MAC AIDS Fund.

I can’t WAIT to see the colors!!! I have always loved Cyndi since back in my teenage years and I ADORE Lady Gaga….weird but talented and  you know what?  Cyndi was the SAME WAY in her day.  Go back and look at pictures….she was an artist and unbeknownst to everyone else at the time and fine singer songwriter.  People wanted to dismiss her because of the campy image she portrayed. Then True Colors came out and people were like whaaaaat??  yeah, I can see Lady Gaga doing it big like that later in life.  What do you think about the latest celebrity ambassadors??

Regular readers know, that when it comes to my hands…or my body skin in general for that matter – it’s 100% dry like the scales on a lizard in the winter.  So I go out of my way to have extra hand cream, body cream etc in my purse in my car….wherever!!  That’s the main thing I like about Clinique’s latest, Deep Comfort Hand & Cuticle Cream, portability.  That and my hands are super moisturized (even the driest spots, in between my fingers!), but with a light scent and I can actually hold a glass without it slipping out of my hand (which is my hand cream/lotion test…LOL)
