This is to raise money and awareness for Women’s Aid Ireland.

As we are all aware that the frequency of domestic violence has increased dramatically since the lockdown ,with a lot of women and children under threat and fear constantly. In some cases, women have been murdered by their partners which is horrific for any family.

We want to raise money to help women start anew and bring their children out of violent situations.

Also Sunday 24th May I will be one of the final performers on a series of intimate concerts which Culture Ireland initiated under the auspices of the Department of Culture, Heritage and Gaeltacht and FACEBOOK Ireland.

I rarely play solo performances but I am looking forward to this concert.

This is such a welcomed opportunity to perform, for some of Ireland’s professional musicians, like myself, who are without work for the foreseeable future.

It is very hard to plan ahead.

I’m happy to announce that I am now offering Online Fiddle Lessons from the Donegal Tradition here on my website.

Over the years, travelling with Altan and on other projects, I have always been asked at festivals and on tours to teach fiddle but I never had the chance. Now I have had plenty of time and have prepared and filmed a lot of my favourite tunes, mostly from Donegal. I look forward to fiddlers learning them and joining the discussion.

Each lesson includes three videos within one screen – performance, bow and fingers, and an MP3 download so you can listen on the go. You can also watch from anywhere and on any device by logging into your mairead.ie account.

The first 6 videos are available now as a special for the initial monthly subscribers only until May 24th 2020.

Yearly subscribers will have access to all lesson videos in the course for one year from signing up, plus a free MP3 download of my only solo album ‘Imeall’. More new videos and blogs will be uploaded on a regular basis.
