Finally I got my Typekit invite yesterday :) It’s ridiculous really when you think about how long the web has built on only a handfull of fonts.. well no longer!

All the major browsers are now starting to support this embeded font thing if you provide a URL in your CSS to the font file, great news. Problem is there’s not that many fonts that you can ‘legally’ use in this way. That’s where Typekit comes in, it’s essentially web only font licencing service, with some clever stuff behind the scenes that smoothes out differences in how browsers handle type.

You can sign up and use the free fonts (for free), or drop a bit of cash (up to $50 a year subscription) to get access to hundreds more.

I’ve been having a little play around with it, and am currently using Buendia by César Puertas for the titles. I think it might be time for a full re-design soon though.

Movember + Twitter & Hashtags = Tachetags! This was the brainchild of a mate at Blast radius, who got me in as the ‘moustache expert’ to make it happen.

Basically the idea is you upload daily photos of your folical folly to twitter (using twitpic, yfrog or img.ly) and add #tachetag in the text. We’ll pull them all into tachetag.com where you and anyone else can see your progress and, if they like the look of your hirsute heroics, add a donation in your name.

There a few more features in the wings, like being able to post images directly on the site, personal pages with all your photos and hopefully an animated gif of it growing.

My new favourite iPhone/iPod game is Canabalt by Adam Atomic. Your little pixel dude is trying to escape what looks like some sort of alien invasion, and he’s running for his dear life. All you can do is choose when he should jump (by clicking), between rooftops, through windows into offices and across cranes etc.

Makes for a quick game, but super fast paced and addictive. My top score is 7927m, see if you can beat that! Also you play it online (free) here »

I‘ve seen plenty of custom alphabets, but can’t think of any that focused on numbers, that is until I saw this Number Character project by Skwirrol. Not quite finished yet, but I like where it’s going and eagerly anticipate the rest of the set.

My brother’s twins are getting bigger and more interesting every time I go back home :) I forgot to do the six month post.. but here they are at 7 months!

Daisy is still racing ahead in the growth again, got 2 teeth now and big chubby cheeks like me when I was a baby.

Oliver strangely looks a bit older because he never really put on his baby fat and is looking like a lean mean super baby model, definitely got his photogenic skills nailed at an early age.

I‘m going to have to start a category ‘events I wish I’d gone to but only just found out about them after they happened’ to remind me of these things next year. Ok I’ve done it.

This shot is taken from the The World Stone Skimming Championships 2009 on Easdale Island, Scotland. I saw that Anne Ward (I Like) had been this year. Apperently the island is made out of slate, so has plenty of little flat rocks that are ideal for skimming.  It’s strange that the results are in meters, me and my brother always used to play the most bounces wins. Either way I want a go and will try and remember it next year!

For the past few years I’ve making these ‘fill out your Vital Stats, hand it over to your partner’ Christmas cheat sheets. My attempt to solve the age old problem of buying clothes for your better half at Christmas time. It’s generally been my most popular post of the year, for the simple reason I suppose, we need them!

So basically you fill out one and give it to your partner (or whoever you’re expecting a present off), or get them to fill out one for you so you don’t blow a surprise by asking for a particular.

Surprise surprise each year the girls form is downloaded much than the boys, this is the sort of thing girls just remember, us blokes need a handy reminder I suppose ;)
