Why Task Card?

• The video barcode scanner has been rewritten to be 700% better, so iSight scanning is much more responsive. This is the third generation barcode scanning algorithm for Delicious Library, and is being provided for free to Delicious Library 2 users.
• Apple\'s late 2009 iMac machines use a lens whose fixed focal distant starts at around two feet, which is very far compare to other Macs, and makes scanning barcodes very difficult. This new algorithm makes it possible to scan with these iMacs, but it can be a bit twitchy. When scanning with any Mac, if you are having problems try tilting your item up and down to remove any shines on the barcode from the screen of from nearby lights. Also, if an item isn\'t scanning, make sure the barcode completely fills the width of the target area — this is the width that has been determined to scan best for your model of camera.
• 2.4.1 fixes a bug in 2.4 where users of certain models of iMac were drawing the scanning window as black.

Anyone using a computer (and the Macintosh is no exception) spends a lot of time locating files and applications, and then carrying out actions on those items. The Finder is a reasonably good tool for getting a visual overview of the contents of your disk, but it isn't ideal for quickly locating and manipulating files, especially if you have a deep and complicated folder structure, or if you prefer keyboard navigation to using the mouse.

Quicksilver allows you to find what you need quickly and easily, while keeping your hands on the keyboard. For example, if you want to launch an application hidden in the depths of your file system, simply activate Quicksilver with a keystroke, type a few letters of the application's name, then hit Return or Enter to launch it. When you don't need Quicksilver, it keeps out of your way, preserving precious screen real estate, and yet you can summon it instantly with a key stroke - just like Mercury the winged messenger. Actually, Roman mythological texts are remarkably silent on whether Mercury could be summoned with a key stroke, but it would have been great if he could. Quicksilver will certainly make you feel as if you have god-like powers.

Quicksilver indexes and parses selected parts of the contents of your hard drive in the Catalog, so that it locates and displays the items matching your search really quickly. If you are a programmer or an uber-geek, you will be glad to know that you can extend and customise Quicksilver until it does exactly what you want it to. The modular structure also means that the application will never be bloated: You only load the modules that you find useful

Version 1.0b57:

• Default compiler changed to Clang, Apple's and the Open Source community's next gen compiler. By doing that a 20 to 40% increase in runtime speed was gained while managing a catalog library with approx. 13k items. Quicksilver also feels a lot snappier too. This, of course, is mostly subjective (read: YMMV).

• Actions should now appear localized again where appropriate. (e.g. 'Copy to...' for example in German could also be typed as 'Bewegen nach...' or 'Open' as 'Ouvrir' in French. .lproj folders for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Danish, Finish, Norwegian, Polish, and Swedish have been included. Notes
The basic component of proNotes is a note. A note has a category, title, status, note text, attachments, a keyword, and to-dos. What\'s cool about proNotes is as soon as you save a new note, it\'s organized for you in the Main Window and it\'s text is searchable. It does all this on the fly. You don\'t have to create an organizational scheme or a directory structure in advance.

Fast Searching
There are two ways of searching proNotes: clicking & typing.

• Clicking on a category finds all the titles with that category. Clicking on a title finds just the notes with that title. One last click in the details table shows you the note.
• Typing in the search field narrows things down just like clicking. proNotes will quickly show you all the notes, for all the statuses, that have the search text in the category, title, note, attachment name, to-do item or keyword. You can search all the elements or just one (by clicking on the magnifying glass in the search field). You can search for words or a phrase (by surrounding your search in double-quotes).

To-Dos Like You\'ve Never Used Them Before
Many programs have to-do lists but proNotes handles to-do lists in a unique and powerful way. Just like with notes, proNotes lets you click and search your to-do\'s. That means in just a few clicks you can:

StockLookupMBI is a Mac menubar item which enables you to view the price of a few select stocks and precious metals quickly and easily from a menu. To conveniently view more information on a listed stock select it to go to Yahoo! Finance, the source of all the information this program displays.

Use the system preference pane to add and remove stocks from the menu. Click the "Add Stock Symbol" button to create an editable text cell whose contents are initially "????". Click down on this edit field to start an edit session and then simply type the symbol of the stock you want in the menu. The company name will be added for you.
