I recently bought SkullCandy Titan Headphones. I have heard how good the Skullcandy Headphones are. Finally a chance to try them out. Here is my review about one of the hot looking pair of in-ear headphones.

Package :

The Skull Candy Titan comes in a minimalistic package.

The front part of the package is transparent which shows off the custom designed alumnium earbuds with Skullcandy logo embossed on the back of the headphones.

The headphones also comes with specially made case with skullcandy logo.

Those case gives a better protection to the headphones when they are not in use.

The package also comes with a extra pair of ear buds of different size.

Performance :

The Skullcandy Titan headphones provides a very good noise isolation. The ear buds are soft and strong to keep headphones on place. I was worried whether the weight of the aluminium ear buds will have impact while walking or bike riding. But ear buds are strong enough to hold them on place. Nokia Lumia 920 is the first smartphone from Nokia to come with wireless charging out of the box. To make use of the wireless charging feature Nokia introduced three wireless chargers for Lumia 920. They are

Today we have the Wireless Charging Plate aka DT-900 to try.

Package :

As all the Lumia devices the wireless charging plate also comes in a identical Nokia product box. The charging plate is designed according to the Qi standards which is the global standard for wireless charging.

The charging plate comes in various color options like the Lumia 920. The charging plate we have here is in white color.

Box Contents :

The box consists of Wireless charging plate, user manual of DT – 900, 1.8m power cable and power adapter.

Nokia introduces Nokia Lumia 520 & Nokia 720 at MWC

It’s time for the Mobile World Congress 2013, and that means it’s time for phone companies all over the world to converge in Barcelona and show off their latest wares. One of the more interesting press events thus far has been Nokia’s; as well as showing off a raft of Nokia accessories they announced two new Lumia smartphones. The Nokia Lumia 520 and the Nokia Lumia 720. These phones sit above and below the existing Nokia Lumia 620 and should prove to be popular phones as we continue to move into 2013. Let’s have a look at both, shall we?

Nokia Lumia 520

We’ll start with the Nokia Lumia 520. This is the weaker of the pair, offering much of the same Windows Phone 8 feature-set as the Nokia Lumia 620 but at a marginally cheaper price. The phone includes a 4″ display which is slightly larger than that on the 620, but is the same 800 x 480 resolution. The phone is powered with the same dual-core 1 GHz processor, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage augmented by microSD. The major difference is that the phone doesn’t include NFC and doesn’t have a front-facing camera – meaning that Skype video calling is out of the equation. The 520 also neglects to include a compass, which may make navigation a bit harder. The phone does include a slightly larger battery to power that larger screen, as well. The 520 will come in yellow, red, cyan white and black, although there’s no word on whether its removable cover will be easier to find than the Nokia Lumia 620 covers.

Nokia Lumia 720

As you’d expect, the Lumia 720 offers a few upgrades over the Lumia 620 at a slightly higher price. The phone offers a 4.3″ WVGA display, again bigger than the Lumia 620′s but at the same resolution. The phone also includes the same dual-core processor, 512 MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage. The big advantage is in the phone’s looks – it’s only 9 millimetres thin, making for one of the thinnest Lumias on the market and a big step above the Lumia 620. The 720 also includes the super-sensitive touch technology of the Lumia 920, allowing you to use the display even with gloves on. There’s also NFC and optional wireless charging with an add-on rear cover. Another area in which the 720 represents an upgrade is in the camera department. There’s a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front and a 6.7 megapixel f/1.9 camera on the rear. For a unibody design, it’s fairly cheap too, coming sim-free at €249.

Conclusion

Blaupunkt DJ112 Silver Edition headphones review

The Blaupunkt DJ112 are the retro looking headphones. Here is the review of the headphones about its looks, comfort and performance.

Package:

The Blaupunkt DJ112 Silver Edition headphones comes in a huge package.

The headphones specifications are detailed at the back side of the box.

The cord which comes with the headphones is 2.2m long. That’s it for the box contents. Lets see how it looks and performs.

Comfort and Looks :

The Blaupunkt headphones are the cool looking headsets I have seen in recent times.

The silver grill pattern in the ear cups gives a retro look to the headsets. Does the looks spoil comfort ? Not at all.

The headsets also provide great comfort thanks to the foam surrounding the inner ear cups. The foam also cancels outdoor noise to some extent.

The headband at the top is made of soft rubber with foam inside.

It provides a good grip and it is very soft.

Surprisingly this Blaupunkt DJ112 Silver Edition headphones comes with detachable cords. The cord is about 2.2 long and very thick ensuring greater life time. The both ends of the cord consists of gold plated 3.5mm jacks.

The 3.5 mm jack is angled at one end.

Sound output :

The Blaupunkt DJ112 Silver Edition headphones delivers good sound output too. I am fan of in-ear headphones so I was not sure whether these headphones would suit me well. But surprisingly it did. The sound was not too loud or too muffled.

I felt the bass was not too punchy enough for me. Other than that it was fine for daily music and gaming.

These headphones are compatible with PC, audio system and all smartphones which supports 3.5mm jack headsets.

Pros :

Good looking headsets.
Good build quality.
Long and Strong Cords.

Cons :

Long use of headphones makes your ears hot because of the tight outer foam.
Bass felt too soft for me.

Offtopic : Tata India Vista D90 Review

Thanks to TATA Motors and BlogAdda on their new initiative of choosing bloggers to review a Car. You heard it right! A CAR. I was one of the thirty shortlisted bloggers to try out the New Indica Vista D90. Here is my short review of the car based on the long drive from Chennai to Kanyakumari, southern tip of Tamil Nadu. I got the Indica Vista D90 ZX variant to try out for three days.

The car you see above is not the ordinary vista, its the sportier and high powered version of the Vista you know of. So Whats changed in this new Vista ? Read on to know more.

Design and Looks :

What have changed from the old Vista ?

The car looks a lot different than the usual Indica Vista. Thanks to the chrome strips running all over it. On the front you will notice many cosmetic changes.

The front grill is now covered with chrome strips and the TATA logo is prominently placed in the center of the grill.

Another major change is the headlights. Indica VistaD90 comes with triple barrel headlights.

The fog lamps at the bottom are now covered with chrome too.

The tires now comes with dual tone alloy wheels which is a very welcome change to a vista. It makes the Vista looks more sportier in my opinion. Moving to the top, the Indica Vista D90 comes with black infinity contrast roof which enhances the look of the car.

There is no major change at the backside of the car other than the new intelligent rear wiper. Inside the trunk you get a very good boot-space due to the 60:40 flip seats which can be adjusted easily. Inside the car you get dual tone interiors and many more features for the driver. I have explained it below.

Power and Braking :

Thanks to the Quadrajet 90bhp engine. The Indica Vista D90 easily reaches 120kmph. without struggle.

My uncle pushed it to a maximum of 148Kmph in the highway. When you have so much power at your dispense there must be a better braking system.

Thanks to the ABS it gives better control over the car. Coming to the crucial mileage part.

The average mileage at the highway was around 15-17kmpl at the speed of 120kmph and AC on. How did I calculate mileage ? Well thanks to the DIS Aka Driver Information System. It shows three types of things

Mileage information – Instant and Avergae Mileage

Maximum kms the car can cover with the available fuel
Outdoor Temperature

Notice the central part you can see the phone icons in the audio system. Indica Vista D90 comes with Bluetooth. It lets you pair phones and play music or control voice calls.

The best part the music controls and phone controls are present in the steering wheel for quick access.

Safety :

Its good that TATA is very concerned about Safety of their passengers. Here are some safety features I spotted in the car.

Once you start the vehicle the seat belt sign on the dashboard continues to blink until you put the seat-belt.
Both the driver seat and the steering wheel are height adjustable for added comfort of the driver.

There is a special control panel on the driver’s door. It lets you to adjust side-view mirros and lock windows.

Dual Air bags in the car for additional protection.

Conclusion :

Overall this Indica Vista D90 looks like the perfect upgrade for Vista Series of Cars. It gives you most of the features of sedan class cars at the price of hatchback. If you are considering to get a hatchback with lots of features this is the one to get.

Windows Phone 7.8 Update with New Home Screen and Bluetooth Sharing now rolling out for First Generation Lumia Devices

Nokia Conversations blog just posted that the Windows Phone 7.8 Update for the first generation Lumia Smartphones is now rolling out. This update brings features like resizable Homescreen tiles, Internet Sharing , Bluetooth File Transfer, New Tiles color accents and Ringtone Maker.

This update is being rolled out for Nokia Lumia 510, 610, 710, 800 and 900. Nokia says that the users will receive notifications on their devices regarding the update.

The time has come for the World’s biggest Mobile Manufacturers event to kick off. Nokia have scheduled a press conference on first day of MWC Feb 25 Monday, at 9:00 A.M . Last Year Nokia set a milestone in Smartphone Imaging with the marvel Nokia 808 PureView. Nokia redefined the smartphone imaging experience with the whooping 41MP Camera and over sampling algorithm. Also the 808 PureView features the industry leading HAAC microphones to record low level bass and crystal clear audio. This year what can we expect!?? Lots of questions and also lots and lots of rumors surrounding the hype. ….

Verge and Flavio posted that the Nokia is planning to unveil its first PureView flagship running on Windows Phone 8 operating system. The Lumia 920 which launched under the PureView branding does bring the industry’s best low light imaging and OIS. But the expected Oversampling feature was missing. I think Nokia have worked out something extraordinary to fuse the OIS and the big sensor of the 808. As per the rumors this device will be the first PureView Windows Phone flagship from Nokia. Time to set the next benchmark it seems .

The rumors also suggest that the Nokia is also planning to change the fabula design language and bring new designs to Lumia portfolio with metal bodies instead of poly carbonate shells. The old Windows RT/Windows 8 tablet rumors are also back. I am not sure whether Nokia will introduce a tablet at this time. But anything may happen. Its gonna be a EPIC show at MWC.

I have been dreaming about Lytro like refocusing micro array lens setup in a smartphone. Whats your expectations ? Let the countdown begin!

Software Reset Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820

How to reset the Software of Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 ?

When something goes wrong in the Windows Phone 8 operating system of the Nokia Lumia 920 or Nokia Lumia 820. You can reset the software by navigating to the about menu in the settings. You can see reset phone option in the about screen. This will completely reset the phone and erases all the user data. This can be used if you need to change the live ID.

In some cases like when you forgot the pass-code to unlock the phone, there is no other chance of getting into the phone than resetting it. Follow the steps to reset the phone using hardware key combinations.

Warning : Try at your own risk. Proceeding to the steps below will COMPLETELY erase your data without any warning.

Press and hold the lock key to turn off the phone.
Once the phone is in off state. Press Volume Down and Power key till you see an exclamation mark in the screen. If you didn’t press correctly the phone will just reboot instead of showing that screen with exclamation mark.
When it shows the exclamation mark input the following buttom combinations. Dont keep on holding the below described buttons. Just press them once.
- Press Volume up
- Press Volume down
- Press Power Key
- Press Volume down again
If you have followed the correct combination the screen will shows the Nokia symbol and reset itself
You can see the new phone setup dialog once the reset is done.

Hardware Reset Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820

How to Hardware Reset Nokia Lumia 920 ?

If your Nokia Lumia 920 gets stuck in the software its impossible to reboot the Nokia Lumia 920 by removing the battery since its battery is inbuilt. WPCentral just posted the internal repair manual from Nokia which shows how to hardware reset without losing any data or removing the internals. To reboot Lumia 920 manually press both the Volume down and Power key for five seconds to manually reboot the phone. When the Lumia 920 hangs up during any software process it will respond to this hardware button combination which will reboot the phone .

In the case of Lumia 820 when it hangs up just remove the battery and reinsert it. Please remember both of these process does not reset the Windows Live ID or remove any user data.

Nokia Music+ announced

This week Nokia announced their new Nokia Music+ service, which is a premium add-on to their free Mix Radio service.

You’ll get a number of benefits once you put down the coin. Firstly, you’ll be able to skip songs whenever you like – the standard Mix Radio, like Pandora, only allows a limited amount of skips per day. You’ll also get access to higher bitrate streams, which should appeal to anyone listening on high quality headphones or speakers. There’ll also be lyrics accompanying each song – although it’s not known whether this will be language-limited. A desktop web app is also on the cards, similar to the Google Music.

Also like Google Music will be the ability to save music for offline-consumption. Again, this will be unlimited but it’s not known whether you’ll be able to select individual tracks a la Google Music or whether you’ll be limited to storing only whole mix stations offline.

The service will cost $4 per month in the United States and €4 per month in Europe. Music+ will be available in the next few weeks, at which point specific pricing for individual territories will be announced. The service will be limited to Nokia handsets, including both Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8 devices – I’m looking forward to trying out the new Music+ on my Nokia Lumia 800!
