Melanie went to brownie camp for most of the weekend leaving Andrew time for shopping with birthday money at the LEGO store. When Melanie got home, it was building time. Love how they got creative!

Melanie’s Soccer Game

Melanie is playing competitive soccer this year with the WRC Panthers U10 Girls Soccer team. They had a great game today and outscored their opponents by several goals. Melanie mostly plays defence, but she covers a lot of ground on the field and she gets into the action all the time. Between practices and games she is currently scheduled to play 4 times a week, which is rather exhausting for all of us. Lots of fun, but also very time consuming…

Easter at Fort Calgary

While my sister Heidi and her family were visiting Calgary we took th opportunity to visit some of Calgary’s tourist attractions. Fort Calgary had an Easter Celebration going on with baloons, face painting and Rabbit Hopping. I know what you’re thinking, “What’s Rabbit Hopping?”. Well, think agility competitions with dogs, but replace the dogs with rabbits instead. It’s pretty ridiculous, but the kids enjoyed it…

We had a nice Easter at home with my sister Heidi and her family. The kids had great fun with cousins Hannah and Kelly, and much chocolate was had by all!

Decorating Easter Eggs

The cousins had a great time decorating Easter Eggs together. The technology to do so sure has improved over the years. It used to be a simple dunk in a bath of dyed water. Now it’s sponges and stencils with paint , and so much more! The kids had a great time and wanted to continue long after we ran out of eggs for them to color.

Penguin Plunge at the Calgary Zoo

We finally had a chance to visit the new Penguin exhibit at the Calgary Zoo today. My sister Heidi and her family are in town visiting so we all got to go together. Her kids hadn’t been to the zoo before so we played tour guide and took them all around the zoo. It was a great visit and everyone enjoyed it.

By far the best part of the trip was ‘Penguin Plunge’, the newest exhibit at the zoo. This attraction is really quite amazing and I love the way they built it. You get a very close up view of the penguins and really get to experience their personalities! If you haven’t been to see it yet it’s definitely worth the trip. Go early though because the lines to get into the penguin enclosure quickly builds up to over an hour and stays there all day long. We planned to be there for the opening so that we could be among the first group allowed in. We arrived at the gates a little after 8:30 and were in line by 8:45. Even a few minutes later and we would have been much further back in line…
