From the initial consultation, through the design and implementation processes to completion we have found them creative, professional, knowledgeable, reliable and courteous.

They have used quality plants and materials and skilled gardeners and workmen.We are delighted with the beautiful result and won’t hesitate to use them again.

We got a good rate and they were very helpful with directions and letting us check in early. The apartment itself had a lovely living dining area and was very bright. It was well furnished and close to the seafront. There was plenty going on in Ballycastle so we had plenty to do.

I would recommend staying in this apartment and we plan to come back again soon (hopefully there is more good weather to come).

The Cuan is owned and managed personally by Peter and Caroline McErlean, a lovely couple who usually greet their guests personally.

We were shown to our room, which overlooked the village square, a bedroom with Four Star standards. It has everything that most 4* hotels have, excepting the personal decor, pictures etc.

Facecloths, soap, fresh towels, period-style taps ~ very comfortable indeed; spotless and clean, too.

We dined in the lounge-bar on two evenings. I had mainly seafood myself, including haddock fishcake, salad, scampi, more haddock with mashed potato and so on.

Breakfast is nothing like that served in Ulster hotels: It is freshly cooked, with fresh, local produce, The Cuan’s special bacon (as thick as gammon!), sausage, egg, tomato, mushrooms, potato and soda farls.

There is a very good choice of alternative meals, too, including fresh pancakes with butter, honey, syrup etc.

The star of the breakfast-room must be Colman, a gentleman of a certain degree of seniority, a mischievous goint in his eye and a cheery smile for everybody. Colman is worth his weight in gold at the Cuan, and deservedly so.

I have never before been to a hotel or guesthouse where such a wonderful character greets and entertains his guests at breakfast time.

The Cuan must be one of the best inns in Northern Ireland; certainly in County Down.

Congratulations, Peter, Caroline, and staff ~ we expect to revisit the Cuan!

Staff very unfriendly, in fact no one spoke to us at all except to take our money from us and he didn’t even manage a hello. As it was as our first time there, being shown where to go etc would have been nice but we were completely left to our own devices. Felt a bit like intruders.

Only took 2 mins to see the small selection of animals. Then we spent the rest of time in the swings and soft play but we could of paid a lot less to do this somewhere else and much nicer and cleaner too. Soft play very dirty. No cafe or refreshments at the soft play area either, the tea room in a separate part so not so convenient when there with small children.

Wouldn’t rush back.

Also water tight and nice and sturdy the log cabin look.

Also got one of their handmade benches, brill and very sturdy cant wait to as its coming with the shed.

Good to give local businesses instead of these big companys.
