Moochers Jazz Cafe Terrace

WELCOME to Moochers Jazz Café, the home of great food & great music 7 nights a week.

Established in 1993 Moochers is famous for giving not just great food but a proper night out.

We play all kinds of music (except Jazz!) loud enough for you to hear but not too loud should you attempt to chat up the waiting staff!!!

Meat eaters will delight in our BEST IRISH BEEF our Rumps are huge (despite the exercise!) Fillets, Rib Eye & Sirloins complete the line up.
If your man (or woman) enough, try our Giant Mixed Grill or Whole Slow Roasted Shoulder of Lamb, hats badges & balloons are presented for nice clean plates (subject to availability!)
Veggies don’t despair, there’s a lot to choose from (if you like lettuce!)
No really, there`s loads of non-meat dishes to choose from!!!

During the hot summer nights we open our rooftop garden terrace & extra entertainment can be had watching our overworked, bad tempered waiting staff, trudging up & down the stairs, bearing trays of sizzling food for the clientele above. A missed step usually brings the house down (along with the food) accompanied by clapping & cheering and the sobbing of the owner as he watches his profits disappear!! And no we don’t scrape it off the floor and serve it to the next unsuspecting customer, unless you’re not watching!!!

The SPECIALITY OF THE HOUSE is the PANCAKES which come on such large plates that you will gasp when you see them. Your friends will rush to take photos of you eating them and afterwards you will wonder where you put it all. Some people even buy the plate to take home to show disbelieving relatives in case they think the photo is a forgery.

Everything is freshly cooked at Moochers so while you are waiting (the service can be a bit slow!) why not take the opportunity to order one of our delicious cocktails. You will especially enjoy ordering the ones with the rude names like ´Sex on the Beach´ or a ´Screaming Orgasm´ particularly if you are lucky enough to get a waiter or waitress that you fancy,(the cocktails will put you in a carefree mood which will become important later on when things start to go wrong!).

So, Sit back, Relax & Enjoy!

Moochers Jazz. Jazz & all that Jazz . But No Jazz!

MAKE IT A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
MAKE IT YOUR NIGHT TO REMEMBER
MAKE IT MOOCHERS……………………………………

Oh, And don’t forget the tip!!!!!!!..

2 GOLF COURSES

At Alcaidesa golf is ever-present, with its 36 magnificent holes spread out all over the resort. Apart from the classic Links-type course, which has been Alcaidesa’s flagship since 1992, since 2007 there is a new Heathland one, which recovers the gently undulating landscape and typical groves of the area. Thanks to Dave Thomas, the famous golf course designer, this golf course is now the best setting for any type of golf championship.

At the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja, where the mountains meet the sea, is a legendary home for European golf Created in 1990. Designed by Dave Thomas with bunkers redesigned by Seve ballesteros, The Old Course is rated amongst the finest in Europe.

The San Roque Club offers all the facilities you’d expect of the finest and most exclusive meeting place on the Costa Del Sol. The two contrasting golf courses are as challenging as they are beautiful and away from the greens, four very different restaurants serve up a stunning array of high-class cuisine, from Japanese to tapas. The equestrian centre’s top class facilities appeal to everyone from novices to experts, and if a more relaxing visit appeals, the terraces, the heated pool or beauty and therapeutic treatments are among the facilities members enjoy, while the meeting and conference rooms make this a perfect place to get down to business in a calming environment. Then there are the tennis and paddle courts, the Pro shop and gatherings like the club’s Summer Event, one of southern Spain’s social highlights of the year.

Welcome to San Roque Club, we hope to make your time at the club an unforgettable experience!

Founded in 1964, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande is located on prime golfing land close to the beachfront between the river Guadiaro and Sotogrande marina. Anyone lucky enough to have played at one of Spain’s foremost members’ clubs will be able to confirm Robert Trent Jones was right to take pride in what is an extraordinarily good design.

RCG Sotogrande is often voted to be among the top ten golf courses in Europe – and rightly so. “Sotogrande Old”, as it is called by the locals, boasts mature vegetation with pine, cork oaks, eucalyptus and giant palm trees enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings.

The greens are large and the tees are very long, some would say excessively so, but they allow for variations in pin placement and the length of hole. The contours of the greens are typical Trent Jones and the bunkers were the first in Europe to be filled with brilliant white crushed marble. Another “first” at Sotogrande was the use of Bermuda grass on fairways.

The ‘Old Continent’s’ finest course is set once again to meet the challenge of hosting the European Tour’s grand finale – the Volvo Masters Andalucía. Since Jaime Ortiz-Patiño took over the course, then known as Las Aves, it has evolved into a beautiful, powerful and unique golfing phenomenon. In this special feature, the president and driving force behind Valderrama recounts the changes made at the course from 1987, the year before the inaugural Volvo Masters, till today. ‘The first decision we reached when acquiring the course was to reverse the two nines. Robert Trent Jones agreed because this way the last four holes make a wonderful finish.

Comparing 6, 7, 8 and 9 with 15, 16, 17 and 18, the way we have it now offers a far greater challenge. 6 and 15 are both par-3’s but the 15th is much more difficult. The 7th was an easy par-5, the only easy hole on the course whereas 16 is, in the words of 1989 Volvo Masters winner, Ronan Rafferty, ‘one of the toughest par-4-s I’ve ever played.‘ The 8th is a short par-4 and the 17th a difficult par-5 where we always intended to put a lake in front of the green. The 9th is a straight par-4 while the 18th is a complicated dog-leg par-4. At the beginning we had Bermuda fairways and Bent grass, Penncross greens.

(when booking through our agent Ron Garrood, Tel 952 466 615 0r 650 209 446)

La Reserva Club de Golf is the latest prestigious golf course to be constructed in this corner of the Costa del Sol, joining near neighbours Valderrama, Sotogrande and San Roque in a formidable quartet of quality golfing destinations.

Yet another design of the prolific American architect Cabell B. Robinson, the course only opened for play in 2004 but many already consider it capable of hosting a national or international competition.

It is located within two valleys which join in the form of the letter “Y” and when the site was first cleared of scrub, all trees and plants with ecological and aesthetic interest were moved to a nursery then replanted in their original place.

La Reserva is long – nearly 7,400 yards from the back tees – but fairways are wide so you can afford to open your shoulders on the tees to aim at relatively generous fairways. Greens are on the large size but it is one thing to be on the putting surface in regulation and another to avoid three putting when a long way from the pin position! Water features at half a dozen holes, but apart from one hole, it does not present itself as a frontal hazard.

Both the inward and outward holes have par threes separated by long par fives. On the front nine, the 244-yard 6th has water pressurising the tee shot to the left of the green and the 205-yard 8th is played downhill to a putting surface which also has water to the left and bunkers front right and to the rear. On the back nine, the 180-yard 14th has only one bunker to the right of the green and the 159-yard 16th is played from an elevated tee to a tricky, shallow putting surface.

We understand a second course, designed by José María Olazábal, is currently under construction – we’ll keep you informed of developments as soon as any details are released.

In the fifties the area of Guadiaro was farming country but then came Sotogrande and some farm workers, moving with the times, became greenkeepers. Their work at Sotogrande kindled an intense interest in the game and they developed a small nine-hole golf course on a mountainside. With local kids gathering in their droves to whack golf balls around this primitive “golf course” the tiny village of Guadiaro was able to boast of more golfers than any other village in the entire country.

Major improvements were guaranteed when Jamie Ortiz Patino talked the municipality into donating a parcel of the land and then arranged for the doyen of golf course architects, Robert Trent Jones, to design a nine-hole golf course.

La Canada was the result and some ten years later, with financial help from both the First Tee programme and Jimmy Patino, a second nine-holes, designed by Dave Thomas, was added. When a clubhouse became a reality La Canada was really on the golfing map but, remaining true to the spirit of their origins, it was decided that local golfers would still get priority with tee times.

Just when you think it can get no more difficult the 18th tee provides a spectacle which is sure to cause a further tightening of the tummy muscles. The ground immediately in front of the tee drops off into a huge abyss which is filled with an eye-catching selection of trees. The drive, on this 338-metres hole, has to carry about 180-metres before it arrives out onto the fairway; anything less will require a re-load and three off the tee, and so on! The buggy-path brings you right around the edge of the gorge which must be the final resting place of countless thousands of golf balls.
