Total Eclipse of the Moon, 15.6.2011

A total lunar eclipse took place on June 15, 2011. It was the first of two such eclipses in 2011. The second will occur on December 10, 2011. This was a relatively rare central lunar eclipse, in which the center point of Earth's shadow passes across the Moon. The last time a lunar eclipse was closer to the center of the earth's shadow was on July 16, 2000. The next central total lunar eclipse will be on July 27, 2018.

 Battle of Vavrisovo 1709

The Fight at Vavrišovo took place in August 1709, at the time when the class uprising of František II. Rákoci was approaching its final stage. Although the fight is one of the smaller fights of the class uprising of František II. Rákoci, the way of defence and the outcome of this fight are ranked among a number of curiosities of the military history of Slovakia. Coronation Festival, Bratislava

The first from series of photos from the coronation of King of Hungary, 13 year old King Ferdinand IV, the son of Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand III (played by actor Filip Tůma) and his first wife Maria Anna of Spain, Queen of Hungary (played by dancer Ivana Surovcová). Ferdinand IV take St. Stephan Crown 16th of July 1647 in Bratislava. During Bratislava's 300 years lasting coronation history, between 1563 and 1830, there were 18 Austro-Hungarian Kings and Queens crowned in Bratislava. For the last 8 years, during the first weekend of September, Bratislava reenacts one of the crowning.
