"As President Barack Obama's numbers on health care have declined so has his margin over Republicans on whom American voters trust most on the issue," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "In July he enjoyed a 20-point edge on the trust question, and that margin has been narrowing, to 45-40 percent today."

Oops. These comments may have been inappropriate for this venue. OK - more bike-oriented comments ... I have a '91 Schwinn Woodlands (probably made by Giant in Taiwan) that is cooler today than it was when I bought it as a "mountain bike". Since then, I have had to replace the entire drive train with Shimano XT and have ridden it throughout the East Anglia region of England, around Loch Ness, and throughout the entire north part of the Netherlands, to include over the Ijssel Meer. It started out gloss black, was later power coated red, and is now a very sublime - and thus cool - satin black. I have a total of 14 other bicycles in our houselhold however would never trade this one for anything.

Those were certainly cool bikes. However as an American bicycle enthusiast who has lived in Holland for 7+ years and in England for 5+ years, it is my opinion that my fellow Americans are not ready to trade cars for bikes. Other than those in dense urban areas, many Americans such as myself live in suburban areas where commutes to work, schools, and kids' activities dictate the automobile as the transportation of choice. Time management and the lack of mass transit provides no other choice. Not greedy, just reality. We also have an aging population that is not readily adaptable to bicycle trans. Plus look at the snowy winter this year. Bikes will continue to be a tool of recreation for most in the USA, even for hard-core advocates such as myself. God bless the USA ... and the bicycle.

The new bottles are too flimsy. I have not opened one yet without spilling the contents – usually on my clothing. Two weeks ago my husband began refusing to purchase Aquafina again, however, I held out to give them another try…..I’m over it….I’ll find another water with a user friendly bottle.
