My Starz LG Season 3 Finale

LG Electronics Malaysia and TV3 had recently concluded the 3rd installation of reality show - My Starz LG. The show is about searching & scouting for potential stars between the ages 18 to 25 years.

Raja Farah Ikram, or Tom, of Taiping, won the third season of TV3's talent show, My Starz LG.

The 25-year-old sang Isabella and Revolusi to win the grand prize of RM100,000, a recording contract with Warner Music Malaysia and a 42-inch LG LCD television set.

Hafidz Kamal, 23, of Kuala Selangor, finished second and won a LG chocolate phone and RM15,000.

Maisarah Ismail, 23, of Kuala Lumpur, finished third and took home an LG home theatre system and RM5,000.

Siti Nurhaliza & Kris Dayanti were among those who were invited to do a guest performance at the finale.

The final was broadcast live from the Putra World Trade Centre here at 9pm. It was hosted by Nazruddin Habibur Rahman.

The judges were Azmeer, Ajai and Mas Idayu. The 12-episode talent search began on Nov 1 last year.

Oh ya, in between, we will be announcing the winner for the best blog post for the "Vinci The Genius" blog post contest. The best blog post will walk away with a brand new LG Crystal mobile phone. Stay tune for more fun!

The video show that 96% of us have joined a social network. Initially it was Friendster, MySpace, then only Facebook came in. Talking about Facebook there are 100 millions users registered in 9 months! How fantastic it is?

Company start using social media like LinkedIn as a tool to find employees. More people start to update what they think anytime, anywhere on the twitter by just using mobile phone. Imagine what would happen when customer had bad experience?

"Word of mouth" eventually wil makes up "world of mouth". People will talk about their experience about specific product and services and this will affect the brand in certain way. Not to mention their opinions is getting more influential as time passed.

The Evolution of Home Appliances in 2010

Designers seek inspiration in the most unusual places. The shape of a leaf or the color of a priceless vase might be enough to trigger the next season’s fashions.

Similarly, LG’s product designers are constantly in search of inspiration and closely follow trends in consumers’ habits and broader social issues that may be addressed through technology.

An example of this is how the home appliance industry has increasingly focused on the environment over the past two decades. Through designing more efficient technologies, the home appliance industry is working to address environmental issues. This “green” or “eco-friendly” approach has seen products reduce power consumption and eschew the use of environmentally harmful materials, including refrigerants.

As recent environmental disasters and H1N1 and Avian Influenza pandemics have reminded us, our lives are not separate from environmental issues.

Businesses have recognized this concern and are bringing products to market to take advantage of an increasing awareness of the need for environmental harmony. As a result, manufacturers like LG are focusing on eco-friendly designs that provide modern comforts with a reduced environmental footprint.

Save Our Seahorse

This is one of my travel trip with friends, to Save the Seahorse. Do you know that there are existence of these tiny creatures in the Pulai River Estuary in Johor, Malaysia?

Since 1995, massive port development around Pulai River Estuary have destroyed large tracts of seagrass beds, which are home to the Spotted Seahorse, Hippocampus kuda.

Now we still can see the seagrass bed, but will we able to see it again once the port developed to the extreme?

We, as volunteers will need to help the SOS Researcher to spot living seahorse for them to tag and do population statistic. It was said that the seahorse has now become endangered species.

No worries, the luminescent dye tagged on their body will not affect their health and habitat. After tagging, we measure their length and check if got parasite on their body.

Seahorse has a tendency to curl his tail at the base of seagrass because the big tide might just flush them away. Therefore once you found them should let them curl at your finger too. To make them feel safe.

After finish tagging, measure length, see their health status, we will put them back to their home - Pulai River Estruary. We don't know till when we still able to see the seahorse living there. But we as volunteer trying our best to save our seahorse!

Hey all LG Blog Readers! If you are among the 22 bloggers who won the Da Vinci Exhibition ticket, better blog about it a.s.a.p after the exhibition to win the LG Crystal GD 900!!

This time I would like to share a video about children with different blood type will have different character. This is a Japan TV Program where a teacher and a guy did a test on different blood type children to see their reaction when an "expensive" vase was broken accidentally.

Blood type A: Very caring and always worry about something, they tend to follow the rules because once the vase was broken they quickly report to the teacher。

Blood type B: Happy-go-lucky type. Instead of reporting to their teacher, they sing song when vase broken and willing to help the guy to cover the truth

Blood type O: Strong sense of justice. No matter how close is your relationship or how powerful you are, they will still point you out once you did something wrong.

Blood type AB: Can't-Be-Predict type. We can never predict what they are thinking actually. In this case, the little boy point him out once the teacher arrived even though he promised to keep the vase broken incident as secret.

I personally feel that it is great to have friends with Blood Type B because they will help us no matter what. So which blood type are you?

Global Preview of Avatar with LG’s New Chocolate Phone

Around 5,000 people braved the winter chill at Leicester Square in London on December 12 for the global premier preview of Avatar, a new film directed by James Cameron. Alongside the director were lead stars Sam Worthington & Sigourney Weaver.

National Flags Made Out of Food

Sydney International Food Festival was held early June 2009, participating countries recreated their national flags using their own local delicacies.

Let's have a look and guess what is the name of the country with their food flag.

France, India, Spain, Vietnam

Italy,Lebanon, Korea, Greece

Brazil, Japan, Switzerland, Australia

I find the artistic and resemblance for each country is unique. For example, India with the curries, Italy with their spaghetti, Japan with their sushi and more. What if our country Malaysia also joined this Festival? Malaysia's flag have blue, red, yellow and white colors.

For me, Blue-Nyonya Kuih, Yellow-Pineapple Tarts, Red-Nasi Lemak's Sambal, and White-Ketupat. As for you, what kind of foods will be part of the flag?

Introducing the LG GW620, LG’s First Android Phone

How consumers view and use mobile phones is evolving, and the devices themselves are changing with them. The current generation of smartphones are more akin to handheld computers that enable a user to play games, surf the internet and even do office work (aside from making calls, of course). Smartphones are already changing the mobile landscape and according to a forecast from Goldman Sachs, smartphones will represent 16 percent of the handset market in 2010 and 29 percent in 2012. Some predict it could be as high as 40 percent.

The LG GW620, LG’s first Android -based smartphone
In June this year, LG Electronics launched its first smartphone, the LG GM730, based on the Windows Mobile platform. The LG GW620 is the company’s second smartphone and the first to make use of Google’s Android operating system. LG GW620 is equipped with a 3-inch full touchscreen display and a slide out QWERTY keypad. It is being launched in key regional markets first, including Germany, Canada, Israel, Australia and Singapore in November 2009 and will be available in 23 countries across the globe by early next year.

What differentiates LG GW620 from other smartphones are its SNS Manager, Auto Face-Tagging and powerful multimedia features that make it truly optimized for social media. A user can easily upload pictures or post messages to Facebook, Bebo or Twitter through the SNS Manager application and keep track of friends’ updates at the same time.

How SNS Manager Works
Auto Face-Tagging is a powerful function that helps connect friends to actions. Once a user inputs details about a person in a picture, the LG GW620 automatically identifies the face and synchronizes the information with other pictures. The user can quickly send e-mails or text messages to friends while looking at an image. There’s plenty of room to store images and video thanks to support for 32GB memory cards.

Why Android OS?
Android is an operating system developed by Google that’s 100 percent open source, meaning third-party developers can build applications to extend the rich features offered by default. Straight out of the box, the operating system enables users to access Google online services including Google search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and so on. Frost & Sullivan, a market research firm, forecasts that the market share of Android-based devices will increase from 2 percent to 17 percent by 2014.

Smartphones: For More Than Just Work
As the overall market grows, LG is developing smartphones for average phone users, not just a few avid enthusiasts. A common perception among everyday users is that smartphones are difficult to use and expensive and are best suited to working executives. LG is focusing on development of a group of easy-to-use, affordable smartphones which also provide new experiences to customers without the complexity of early devices.

Smartphones promise convenient features that are in-synch with modern usage habits, and LG believes the ability for users to access social networking features on the road will help kick start a smartphone revolution. This, coupled with the availability of new software to further extend the capabilities of the devices, will help usher in a new era in mobile communications. LG plans to launch up to 30 new smartphones in 2010 to provide a wide selection of devices to our customers.

WHAT’S OLD IS NEW AGAIN - Introducing LG’s “Classic TV”

There were plenty of state-of-the-art electronics as the Korea Electronics Show (KES) 2009 last month but it was a little 14-inch CRT “classic TV” that stole the show at the LG booth. Many visitors were grabbing their digital cameras and camera phones to take photos of this small and cute red TV set. The public interest was satisfying reward for all the hard work we put in over the past few months to develop this little unit.

The Glory Days of TV
This Classic TV is the brainchild of LG Team Leader Jae-ryong Park. He suggested developing a brand new CRT TV for the show to reflect the fashion from the heyday of TV during the 50’s and 60’s. The team spent many nostalgic hours planning and designing the screen as a tribute to the screens that lit up so many lounge rooms in years gone by.

The TV shouldn’t look likes a modern LCD TV. It had to be a blend of the old and the new, features including a real dial, antennas, legs and a black-and-white screen. The insides, however, was all digital.

There were plenty of technical challenges to overcome. Even configuring the rotary dials proved tricky, not to mention designing the legs, the black-and-white screen and incorporating support for digital TV. There were also many discussions with the sales team, who needed to know how to sell such a retro classic in today’s market focused on large, thin, flat screens.

The LG Classic TV looks a little like an original Braun-tube TV at a glance, but it has been modernized in many ways including color, textures, design and features. In the end a jog wheel took the place of the rotary switch – an innovative use of a technology usually reserved for game controllers.

The CRT TV has almost one hundred years of history and while the analog era is drawing to a close, LG is proud to pay tribute to the pioneers of the industry who have brought us to this point. As for retro products from LG, there’s more to come so please stay tuned!

Now almost all the youngster have a FaceBook account and some like to upload photos, update what they are doing now, where he live or even what is his/her telephone number.

It is good to share things with your friends. But what if it is something provocative?

Sharing provocative photos online can cause problems in the future. This is because once it's uploaded, it's there forever. Always ask yourself a simple question before you post: Is this a picture I'm proud of or could it embarrass me? Would I want my parents or other adults to see it? Ladies Genial Morning Tee with the King

The ladies of the National Council of Women's Organisations of Malaysia (NCWO) recently held their annual charity golf tournament at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia’s Danau Golf Club in Bangi, Selangor to raise funds for the various activities the Council holds for the benefit of Malaysian women. Sponsored by LG and Optimistic Option Sdn Bhd, the event was graced by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin.

Apart from sponsoring prizes for the participants, LG had also setup a mini showcase of its latest range of home appliances and home entertainment products for all who were present on the day of event. The ladies of NCWO were also treated to a simple cooking demonstration organized by Korea Tourism Organization (KTO).

“Being able to contribute to activities which benefit the community such as this tournament is a very important part of LG’s responsibility and culture wherever we are present because the success of our business is reflected in how we are able to help others as an extension of our “Life’s Good” tagline beyond our products, said Managing Director and CEO of LG Electronics, Mr. T.Y. Ko.

“The noble work done by NCWO is certainly admirable and LG is very proud to be able to do something positive for the many women who benefit from its dedication. House of Small Cubes

La Maison en petits cubes ("House of Small Cubes") is a 2008 Japanese animated short subject film created by Kunio Katō, with music by Kondo Kenji. It won the grand prize for short films (the Annecy Cristal) at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2008 and the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2009.

I found it very unique and looks a bit familiar with "slow-version-of-2012". This story is about an old man who reminiscence the scene of his eventful life every time he getting deeper. Feel grateful that in the end he didn't choose the route that I think he will.
