My apologies for any inconvenience this may temporarily cause.

Forum

Throwing a simple forum together for needs you will have. No spectacular design for the starter forum, just an easy access environment for feedback, possible need for tweeks/fixes or simply for intros if you like. The forum will be prettied-up in the future.

As RNB is likely to expand into larger numbers as time progresses, preparations are being readied to secure any needed help, increased bandwidth needs and tech expertise that may extend beyond present capabilities.

Your blogging platform will be under safe, secure administration, whether one person registers or thousands and has future security. In other words, blog until your heart’s content (get it ‘content’?). We intend for it to be a secure domain for many years to come.

African farmer, at the age of just 14, built his own wind generator from scrapyard materials.

Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama said Africa must take charge of its own destiny.

At the TED Global conference in Oxford this week, one speech resonated with that message.

The speaker was William Kamkwamba from Malawi.

TED Global (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is the European cousin of an already established top US event dedicated to “ideas worth spreading”.

Unlike the eclectic mixture of scientists, technologists and designers gathered at the hi-tech conference, Mr Kamkwamba grew up as a farmer in the East African country.

“Before I discovered the wonders of science I was just a simple farmer,” he said.

He came to the conference to tell how people how, at the age of just 14, he had built his own wind generator.

But after the family’s maize crop failed in 2001, they could no longer afford to pay for him to go to school.

“It was a future I could not accept,” he said.

Of course, supposedly the intent is innocent enough, but then again, it’s inevitable and obvious uses are apparent. This type of software and education should be closely monitored.

Many people have had to learn this lesson the hard way, unfortunately, after discovering that the “delete” button doesn’t really work to delete something from the internet as a whole. That may be about to change, though, thanks to a new tool created by researchers at the University of Washington. Called “Vanish,” the system places a time limit on any message posted to any web service through a web browser.

I had no idea the numbers were so high. I’m angered and agitated and wish I could do something. gotta find ways to do even little things, like facebook groups, mixx groups, tweeting to support efforts against child porn and trafficking of human beings. if thats all we can do, its better than nothing. awareness, in the right hands, is powerful stuff.

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) — Around 1.2 million children are believed to be involved in prostitution in India, the country’s federal police said Monday.

Ashwani Kumar, who heads the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), told a seminar on human trafficking, that India occupied a “unique position” as what he called a source, transit nation and destination of this trade.

India’s home secretary Madhukar Gupta remarked that at least 100 million people were involved in human trafficking in India.

“The number of trafficked persons is difficult to determine due to the secrecy and clandestine nature of the crime.

“However, studies and surveys sponsored by the ministry of women and child development estimate that there are about three million prostitutes in the country, of which an estimated 40 percent are children,” a CBI statement said.
