Just a reminder that our end of season party is this Tuesday evening at the pool from 7:00-8:30pm. The team will provide ice cream and toppings for all swimmers and their families. We will also have games and an awards ceremony to wrap up our great season. Please come, bring the whole family and enjoy the fun!

End of Season Party

As we finish up this week of practices, our swim season comes to an end. What a great season it was! To close our great season, we will celebrate on Tuesday, July 12th with our end of season party. Beginning at 7:00pm come enjoy ice cream sundae's (for the whole family), games and our end of season award ceremony. We are also looking for parents willing to participate in several swim relays that evening. If you would like to participate in some fun, kid vs. parent or Mom vs. Dad relays, please let the coaching staff know or contact the committee at info@waterstonewaves.org. This is a fun event and promises a great time for the whole family.

Additionally, both Merrimac and Waterstone have agreed NOT to make up the meet that was cancelled on June 16th.

We look forward to seeing all of our swimmers and their families on Tuesday night. See you at the pool!

Practices this week

Just a reminder-

There will be no practices today (the 4th) or tomorrow (the 5th). Practices will resume with a Wednesday evening practice, Thursday evening practice, and our last practice Friday morning. These practices will be a fun workout and will not wear the kids out (since we're done with meets). See you all at practice and the team party on the 12th!!

Friday Morning Practice Combined!

Wow! What great swimming against Brookshire! Waves, you looked awesome!!! Friday's practice will be a celebration practice for this past week's meets. We will have one practice Friday from 9:15-10:00am. This will include all age groups for fun and games.

We will also celebrate with a doughnut breakfast immediately following practice. Waterstone will provide juice and each family should bring a couple of doughnuts. We will pass out ribbons and announce weekly awards. Come join the fun!

Thursday Swim Meet Against Brookshire

Today we will swim against Brookshire at Brookshire. For directions to pool, check the map on the website. Please make sure swimmers are at the pool at 4:00pm. Warm-ups begin at 4:25 sharp. Swimmers need their cap, goggles and t-shirts. The swimmer line-up and meet program are posted on the website.

Volunteers, please be sure to check in with Susan Woodhouse no later than 4:30pm.

Brookshire provides a full concession stand with Nachos, pizza, burgers, snacks and candy. Please consider supporting Brookshire swim team as their concessions support their team.

Tuesday Swim Meet Against Woodgate & Team Pictures

This afternoon we will host Woodgate at our pool. Just prior to warm-ups we will take our team photo that was scheduled for last Thursday. We will need all swimmers at the pool by 3:30 in order to get the picture taken by 3:45. Swimmers will need their t-shirts, caps and goggles. For the meet today, our swimmers will gather in the baby pool area. Please remind your swimmer that the wading pool is NOT open for playing in during the meet. We are moving the swimmers to this area to open up our shaded tables for concessions and eating.

We will have a full concession stand this evening, please consider purchasing dinner there this evening as all proceeds go directly to supporting our team.

Looks like great weather tonight. We'll see you at the pool!

Monday Morning Practice

Good morning Waves! Looks like we are off to yet another day of rain and storms. Our practice policy is that practice will take place rain or shine. However, if thunder and/or lightning is present, practice will be cancelled. We will try to post up to the minute practice information however with weather that is not always practical. Because of the thunder this morning, practice is CANCELLED. Please note that evening practices will take place at the regularly scheduled times.

Ice Cream Party Postponed!

Due to cool temperatures and rain, we are postponing the ice cream party until further notice. This is a fun event, but with cooler temperatures, we felt it would be worth waiting for better weather.

Practice will still take place tonight, however, all age groups will practice together from 6:00 until 6:45pm.

Thursday evening practice will be a combined event this evening. All age groups will meet tonight at 6:00-7:00pm. We will begin with a team picture, then enjoy ice cream sundae's and a ribbon and weekly award ceremony.

Please have swimmers wear team suits and t-shirts for the pictures. Each family should also bring one topping for our sundae bar. We will provide ice cream, bowls, spoons and napkins. Be sure to join us for a fun evening of treats with the team!

Tuesday Swim Meet Against Merrimac

We will be hosting Merrimac's swim team this afternoon. Swimmers, please arrive no later than 3:45 as warm-ups begin at 4:00 sharp. Swimmers need their caps, goggles and t-shirts. Parents, if you are scheduled to volunteer, please check in with Susan Woodhouse no later than 4:30. There is a chance of rain and possibly storms later this afternoon. If the meet is postponed or cancelled due to weather, we will post an announcement. Otherwise please plan on arriving at the pool on time. We will only cancel if there are storms, we still swim in the rain.

The swimmer line up is posted on the website under the schedule page June 21 meet.

We will have full concessions this evening. Plan on supporting our team and consider having dinner at the pool. We will have pizza, walking tacos, burgers and hotdogs as well as other snacks, candy and plenty of cold drinks.

We are planning on a great meet tonight with lots of great competition and plenty of fun.

Combined Practice 6:15-7:00

I just received word that the pool is closed due to it being shocked with chlorine. We won't be swimming at practice today, but will have a combined dryland practice from 6:15-7:00. We will have a separate activity for the 6 & unders who don't want to play with the older kids, and the older 7-14 year olds will be playing KICKBALL!?!?!

PLEASE wear tennis shoes, as you will not be allowed to play if you don't have them. Thank you, see you then!!

Awesome swimming last night Waves! Village of West Clay is incredible competition and you all swam so strong! Great job!

This morning's practice will combine all age groups into one practice from 9:15- 10:00 am. Come celebrate this morning with our infamous breakfast cereal practice. Each family needs to bring one box of their favorite cereal. We will provide bowls, milk, spoons and napkins. We will celebrate with games, distribution of ribbons and breakfast with the team. Come join the fun!

Thursday's meet at the Villages of West Clay

Today our meet will be at the Villages of West Clay pool. If you need directions, please take a look at the map page on our website.

Swimmers must be at the pool at 4:00pm, and if you're volunteering tonight we need you by 4:30pm. They will need their caps, goggles and t-shirt. Team entries and the meet program are both posted on the schedule page under the June 16th meet.

The Villages of West Clay will offer a full concession stand, please consider purchases your drinks and snacks to help support their team as you would for our team during home meets. Parking is available in their pool parking lot or along one side of the street (do not park on both sides of the street please).

Home Meet Today, June 14th

Today we will host The Ponds for our first official meet of the season. Swimmers need to arrive at our pool by 3:45. Warm-ups begin at 4:00 sharp! Swimmers will need their cap, goggles and t-shirt. Our swimmers will gather in the picnic area. During the meet it is very important that swimmers remain in the picnic area. The clerk of course will be working to gather swimmers prior to every event. If swimmers are not in the designated area they cause delays to other swimmers and could potentially miss their event. Parents please encourage your swimmers to remain in this area to assure our meet runs smoothly and no one misses an event.

The heat sheet and event line up are posted on the website, www.waterstonewaves.org. Make sure you look at the correct meet line up under June 14th. If possible please have event and heat information written on your swimmer's arm prior to arriving at the pool. We will have heat sheets posted at the pool but it is much easier to take of this prior to then.

Finally, volunteers need to sign in with Susan Woodhouse by 4:30. We will run full concessions this evening with pizza, walking taco's, hotdogs and hamburgers. We will have plenty of chips and snacks, candy and cold drinks. 100% of concessions proceeds goes back to our team.

Friday's Practice- All Age Groups Combined

Great job swimming! The swimmers did a great job at the intrasquad meet tonight. Tomorrow morning, Friday, all practices will be combined. We will have one practice with all age groups from 9:15 -10:00 AM. Swimmers 6 and under should also join this swim practice. This is a fun practice with games and team building activities fun for all swimmers. Parents, please remember, if you have a swimmer 6 and under, you MUST remain on the pool deck during all practices. This applies for tomorrow's combined practice as well. We'll see you at the pool!

Intrasquad Meet Today

This afternoon is our intrasquad meet. Please have swimmers at the pool by 4:15 ready for warm-ups. 6 & Under swimmers and volunteers need to be at the pool no later than 4:30. Volunteers please check in with Susan Woodhouse upon your arrival.

New this year, swimmer events and heats are posted on our website under the schedule tab. Please view the swimmer line up and meet program information prior to arriving at the pool. We ask that you write the swimmers individual information on their arm with a sharpie marker. An example of this is.....

Also, please write the swimmers name on their shoulder large enough for our clerk of course to read easily. Swimmers will also need to bring their swim cap and goggles. T-shirts will be distributed at the meet.

Concessions tonight will offer pizza, chips, candy and cold drinks. Please support our team by purchasing from concessions, all proceeds go to the swim team and are used to help keep costs low and provide a fun experience for all swimmers.

There is the potential for stormy weather this evening. If weather is questionable please check the website for updates. We are looking forward to a fun filled evening! See you at the pool!

The Week Ahead.....

Monday's practices this week will focus on the butterfly stroke. Parents, this is a stroke that most swimmers need to practice and improve on. If at all possible, try to make at least one of Monday's practices to allow swimmers the opportunity to improve this stroke.

Tuesday's practice will focus on flip turns for swimmers in age groups 11 and up.

On Thursday we will have our intrasquad meet. If you have not yet signed the meet book for this meet, please be sure to do so as soon as possible. This meet will be fun and informational for all of our new swimmers and volunteers. We will also run a full concession stand during the meet, so come hungry and support our team by purchasing from concessions!

Finally, if you have not yet signed up for your required volunteer shifts, please contact Susan Woodhouse no later than Monday, June 6th.

Welcome Waves 2011!!

We are off to a great start to the 2011 season. Our first week has been super with great weather and lots of great swimming. The meet sign-up book is now at the pool and will be on the entry table during pool hours. On Thursday, June 9th we will host our intrasquad meet. Parents, this is a highly encouraged meet to attend as this helps new swimmers experience a meet without the addition of another team. It also helps new members ease into volunteer positions and understand the format of how swim meets are run. The following Tuesday we will host our first home meet against The Ponds neighborhood. Please make sure to sign up in the meet book indicating whether your swimmer will swim either of these meets.

Season 2011

The 2011 swim season is quickly approaching. Resgistration is currently open for the 2011 swim season. Registration forms have been mailed out or download the current form from the website. Mark your calendars for the mandatory parent meeting on Thursday, May 19th. The meeting will take place at the Tidewater Clubhouse beginning at 6:30pm. We are looking forward to another great season of Waterstone swimming!!

2010 Season Wrap Up

We had a great end of season party last week! Thank you swimmers, parents, coaches and swim team committee for such a successful and fun season!

All swimmers received a medal for participating this season. For those of you who were unable to make it to the party, please claim medals and ribbons from the grey file boxes located in the lifeguard office at the pool.

Have a great summer! We hope to see all of you again next season!
