How come that when I use the site of our public transport I won’t get the busnumber I request, but lots of others?

I just want line 2, but I get the whole count from 1 to 99 and over.
I’m not doing anything wrong.
They just give me all sorts of weird ways to travel to my destination that require changing busses even up to 3 times for a distance I could bicycle, if there wasn’t a far too steep part in it for me.

I guess their strange information is due to the new system.
They want us to quit paper tickets and use the electronic card.
Each time you change bus there’s a chance of forgetting to check out and in, so you’re changed far too much.
The trouble you have to go through to get your money back is unbelievable.

Oh…and they can record your whereabouts with that electronic ticket.

1) When the power goes out, do you grab matches and candles or a flashlight first?

It depends on where I am.
Upstairs it’s a flashlight, downstairs at the back it’s probably a flashlight too.
But in the livingroom and kitchen I’ll grab the matches and use the candles.

2) If you could personify and speak to your deepest, darkest fear, what would you say?

Go away. You won’t stand a chance against life itself, as fears are always worst before they actually happen.

3) You’re gathering signatures for a petition – what’s your cause?

There are many.
With today in my mind I would probably want to organise an organisation to inspect governmental organisations to see if they respect children’s rights and to have a huge review of family court and -care, so judges won’t blindly follow the opinions of social workers; social workers won’t be able to write reports without proper psychological evaluations done by people who are experienced in assessment and are registered by and bound by the ethics of their professional organisation; etc etc.

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.

Well, we got a couch from our parents when we married. They were glad to get rid of it. But they had to be patient as we couldn’t place it in our first two homes.
When we finally moved to the present house we had space enough and it served us a long time.
Last year the leather and the wood inside gave up and I stripped the whole thing.
I made bags from the parts of leather that were still good, and recycled the whole lot.
I could have made a bed like is shown here, but I don’t think it would have been comfortable enough.

It’s clear we’re back to the square layouts and plain looks.
Yahoo launched a new beta version that will be the end version too, as they state.
It’s far more consumer targetted than the last version that never came into use by all.
A nice greyish background with clear letters, and a top that looked suspiciously close after my last blog layout of one of my other sites.

And now there’s firefox 4. Full of speed, with irritating tabs at the top.
As there’s always the danger of RSI for people like me, who write a lot and have to surf a lot too, tabs at the top are a nuisance.
Especially when they’re aligned to the utter left.

Maybe they can be adjusted, maybe they can’t. Maybe more people don’t like those tabs.

It’s not logical to place them on top, and have the eternal placed browserlinks under the browserwindow.

Just put those links on top, get rid of the useless empty space because of the + button at the right and get the tabs down, within reach of hard work.
Those tabs irritate me to bits, so I’m considering changing back to the so- maniest version of firefox 3.

Another issue they have not taken into account is that I want to use the settings the way I had them.
I always delete the temporal files when I close, and I do it manually. I like it that way.
Well, I haven’t found yet where I can do that.
I guess they’ve forgotten completely that browsers are used for more than being on internet alone.

For those who miss the bookmarkbutton: I’ve found that one. It’s at the right. Not centralised anymore. That was so convenient.

So I’m not happy at all with firefox 4.

And you?

Queensday is a traditional national event.
The Queen and her family visit one or two towns in the country to celebrate the day with the people.
All sorts of traditional and non-traditional games are shown and everyone can participate, including the princes and their wives.

So we watched it on TV while drinking coffee.

In the afternoon the girls went to one of the special markets where people sell their old stuff.
The past years they always come home with things that gave away because they never used them, but this year they came home empty handed.

Well, we’re going to eat special cake later, so nothing is lost.

Queensday is the first day in a few that follow shortly one after another.
To start with remembrance day at may 4.

Years ago it was agreed I would stick to the tradition of the family and I would be present at the next royal wedding in England.
Due to lack of money I was present in front of the TV.

But I saw it all.

When I was young I said that Westminster Abbey would look great with trees in it, and due to the wishes of Kate I could see I was right. Westeminster Abbey looked amazing.

And the bride: she was gorgeous.
Her dress was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

I’ve enjoyed everything.
Except for the comments I heard on the Dutch TV.
I felt so lucky I had been watching the BBC and wasn’t confronted with their dull comments before.
They said the ceremony was without feeling. Later they corrected themselves and said there were no tears. Like it’s a law to cry on your wedding day.

I guess they were unable to see the facial expressions of William. He looked really in love, as did the bride.

It was their wedding day and it went perfect.
To me it looked like it fitted them very well. And it was their personal wedding day where we were able to be witnesses.

Congrats William and Kate!

My daughter came home full of enthousiasm and eager to tell about her experiences.

As she had to show the pointes to the teacher too, so the lady would be able to give her permission to use them, she had no ribbons attached yet.
But ofcourse I’d given her enough advice so she would be able to participate in the first exercises.

She was nervous, because she missed out of two pointe lessons already, due to the program of her school, but I know the teavher well and I also know how she starts up pointe lessons, so my daughter was very updated when she started the third, for her first, pointe lesson.
In fact she was standing so well on her toes, without any bit of pain at all, that she got a load of compliments from the teacher, who has given her now all the compliments she had available for the next 20 years. LOL!

So there’s another task for the weekend: gluing on suede tops on the toe, and sowing on the ribbons.
I don’t mind to do it at all.

We ordered a pair of pointe shoes online and got the wrong ones.
No satin, but canvas.
As the teacher is very precise there was no way to get away with that, so we had to make an appointment with the fitter of an expensive shop here.

Difference: 50 dollars!!!

Today it was time to fit.

As a former balletdancer and teacher I know a lot about fitting and I saw she was trying to advice a pair that would need replacement in about september.
So tactically I said the feet of my daughter were still growing and she needed to fit in with toepads too, so…

She went home with half a size larger, with the ribbons and the whole lot.
At home we looked at the size.
It was precisely the size I had recommended!
So I still haven’t lost my skill. Haha!

And now I have a proud balletgirl who loves to try out her new pointes at the balletschool.
More about that tomorrow.

The kids have to school again.
We’re kind of lost in time, because the schoolweek starts with a tuesday.

The weather is amazing. It’s tropical and we don’t feel like living in a normal world at all.

Still, everything feels routine very soon, including laundry and homework.

I need to paint at least one of the walls of the livingroom again. One time white over blue was not enough, and a topcorner needs a firm brush too.
But with these temperatures it’s better not done. It might not work out the way we want at all.

It’s nice to see more easter eggs than spam comments for a day. LOL!

I understand that not many countries celebrate two days of easter. I don’t know why we do. When we were engaged it was quite convenient, because we could go to the pairs of parents one each day, carefully watching to alternate the first day of easter between the families and not to be at the same family at both first easter and first christmasday. What a time that was.

When I was young we used to get new clothes for spring and summer just before easter, so we would look at our best in church.
Ofcourse white socks were part of the celebration.

I remember a year when the bicycle was newly oiled and i hit the side with one of my socks.
It was like I had to go with a black soul to church. My mother was furious. As would all moms be during that era. My father took me outside and rinsed the sock with badly smelling liquid of one of his bottles he used to keep in the shed. Then he washed the socks with soap until the smell was gone and the danger to set myself in fire near a candle in church.

We were in church in time for the last rehearsal of the choir before mass.
One of my friends came late. “Socks”, she whispered to the conductor and he smiled.
I silently pointed to my one wet sock and she to hers.
Yep, we giggled.
