//-->
     Overweight is a condition, a state of well-being or non-well-being. If you want to improve your health because in your estimation it is not what you want to be, you have to make the decision first to change, learn about alternatives to make that change and then implement those actions...and persist at the action until you've achieved your goal.

If you want to lose weight, you can. The most common ingredients for losing weight are: A sensible diet which may just mean eating LESS; many people eat more than they need. Secondly, you can exercise some of that weight off. To start, try doing some exercise that you are not currently doing at all, like taking a daily walk around the block. Thirdly, perhaps most importantly, you must improve the nutrition intake to your body; what you put in it makes a difference! The body has an amazing ability to correct situations toward optimum health conditions if it is given the right materials (nutrients) to work with.

Substituting an unhealthy meal with a meal of better nutrition alone can make a marked difference in losing weight. Take lunch: Eat a bowl of soup rather than a fatty hamburger or other similar food. A nutritious bowl of soup is both less-filling and can provide better body-fuel (nutrients) for your body to begin changes toward carrying less weight. And it is inexpensive.

The simple idea is to make small changes along the lines of what you eat, how you exercise and what nutrients you can add to give your body ammunition to attack the fat.

I recommend the PATENTED line of natural juices from Mona Vie - they're all packed with nutrients (and, remember, nutrients become nutrition when they pass your lips) that come from the Amazon where berries have been discovered that offer high concentrations of healthy ingredients that are excellent for health and which can help in your battle to lose some weight.

It is important to realize that correct handling of fruits and other food products will ensure the value of Mother Nature's nutrients will arrive in the products you purchase; otherwise, you may pay less but get less ... and in the long run you'll not reach your goal of the weight reduction, or health, you seek. Food PATENTS are rarely given, and Mona Vie's have achieved this level of guarantee.

More Mona Vie in January 2011 will release a fully-patented line of weight reduction food and products. More information may be found at www.mymonavie.com/ronsherrykule

Getting Over A Cold Quicker
     Getting over a cold quicker takes making a few changes in your diet and activity while fighting the illness. I should know, I have a cold right now...and I usually don't get one easily.

     My first sign of its coming on was a little tickle feeling in my mouth during a business meeting. I had to stay there even though I felt I should leave right away and handle that symptom. Too late, later that day I got a real sore throat.

     Fortunately, I have access to some healthy remedies that are natural; namely, my Mona Vie Active, Pulse and (M)Mune! The latter worked perfectly with only 2 ounces held in my mouth for a few minutes -- no more raspy feeling and no sore throat...temporarily. It was a relief to no longer have it hard to swallow with difficulty!

     The feeling of relief lasted a few hours, and I found each time I drank a little more it would work on the soreness. But it was not lasting in effect; I concluded it to be orally a relief method, but internally it would help my immune system fight the invading cold bug over time.

     I also continued my daily dosages of 4 ounces of Pulse and Active to maintain optimum health as I had been doing before the first ill symptom arrived.

     Now I'm into about my 4th day of battle. While I feel a little tired - well, I DO work about 12 hours daily - I have not had any upset stomach or other nasty lower down things to deal with and furhter sap my energy; in other words, I have been able to work through it so far.

     Now, the cold seems to be waning. It has been defeated and is going away. A few sniffles remain. This, despite my friends all having been incapacitated from working for days. I attribute my good luck to the handy availability of Mona Vie's healthy fruit drinks...and my decision to drink double doses of the (M)Mune version from the start. And I'd recommend the same for my readers.
/* 300x250, created 1/3/10 */
google_ad_slot = "4579166925";
google_ad_width = 300;
google_ad_height = 250;
//-->

     Years ago I learned a lot by working with several companies in the natural foods and supplements industry. I had gone into it thinking that vitamin supplements were most important; yet, I came out of the experience with the viewpoint that Mother Nature had been right all along: whole foods were more important than supplementation, especially synthetics.

     Many vitamin and mineral supplements are manufactured and created synthetically. That is not to say they are fake. In fact, most synthetic versions are based in part upon the natural ingredient they seek to emulate. Still, it is more important to ingest as many nutrients as possible in the original forms brought to us from nature.

     In my earlier study I found that vitamins are pretty much useless in the absence of minerals, minerals being the catalysts for cell usage. If you want your vitamins to actually be utilized by the cells in your body - the whole purpose of taking them in - you will need the presence of the "keys" to the cell, so to speak; you will need minerals. That is why you find many supplements offered in combinations of vitamin/mineral tablets or capsules.

      The next most important thing I discovered was that "delivery systems" for vitamin and mineral supplements were just as important as the actual ingredients. It does little good to ingest enteric-coated tablets if those tablets are not going to release their ingredients at all inside the body. Too many have been found in the toilet bowl, simply wasted entirely. Delivery of the supplement ingredients becomes vastly important in light of the foregoing fact.

     Timed-release systems have been developed to counter the enteric coating problem, but these pre-suppose an almost perfect environment inside the body. The bio-availability of the ingredients can be lowered by various barriers set up inside the intestinal tract, like impacted foods or inflammations.

     In my opinion, with all the possibilities for non-optimum results, I have to recommend whole foods as the best delivery system for not only bio-availability but for actual absorption into the blood stream and eventual usage inside the cells themselves.

     Whole foods, as I am defining them here, are foods composed as Nature offers them. Since these are surviving on their own historically, they come "pre-packaged" in evolved combinations suitable to pave the way for correct uptake - to handle the barriers that may be set up by prior existing conditions, such as fibers to handle impactions and constipations that might prevent body uptake, as well as do some good for the ongoing health of the organism.

     Certainly the most convenient, bio-available basis for obtaining the most utilization would be a liquid or sub-lingual form, the last which breaks down to a liquid form through body heat and saliva.

     Supplements have their place in nutrition where they are actually utilized by the human body. They can offer quick remedy for acute conditions, in some cases. They are convenient, albeit some tablet sizes are considered, "horse pills" unpleasant to swallow!

     The overarching advantage of whole foods is that they are already synergistically bound and do provide an ingredient balance for survival than can transfer easily to the human body's needs. Too, there are more phyto-nutrients available through Mother Nature than will ever be possible to fit inside of a tablet or be encapsulated; in that capacity both supplementation and the eating of whole foods may be considered complementary to each other.

(M)mun(tm) - MonaVie's newest functional food beverage is targeted to help maintain good health for the immune system with a beneficial blend of 19 fruits and proprietary and patented Wellmune(r) - clinically shown to promote proper immune function.

Formulated with antioxidant rich MVao2 (tm), another proprietary complex featuring superfruits acai and maqui to help protect your body year round,
(M)mun has the ability to nutritionally support your immune health and overall well being.

This new drink is a whole food blend of 19 different fruits designed by a team of nutritonists using a balance/variety/moderation approach to health, important since an incorrect balancing of vitamins and minerals can throw off overall health and create new problems. This approach is the hallmark of all the other functional fruit blended beverages known as MonaVie Original, Active, Pulse, Kosher and the energy drink, Emv.

We both have added MonaVie drinks to our daily diets since May 2009. The perceived changes to our health status have been numerous. People with whom we have shared MonaVie have also expressed to us many numerous and varied benefits.

In truth, we're excited to receive our first shipment of the new drink and to taste it. We've heard it's delicious!

The following fruits are the main ingredients of (M)mun:
acai, maqui, grape, apple, acerola, aronia, black currant, elderberry, cranberry, blood orange, sea buckthorn, pear, blueberry, cupuacu, strawberry, baobab, lingonberry, bilberry, and camu camu.

That's quite a lineup of high anti-oxidant foods from Mother Nature!
     Cold and Flu season is soon upon the country again now that the holiday season is over and the new year has been heralded in with our resolutions. Winds of change are blowing in Washington DC and all across the open plains where the frigid northern air sweeps down from Canada, sometimes all the way down to Florida where I reside (tonight it is in the 30s in many parts!).
     Just in the nick of time to ward off the flu viruses and colds that arrive with those blowing winds comes a new product to help boost human body immune systems, and it's called appropriately, Mmun (pronounced, Immune) from Mona Vie.
     Mmun will have a new flavor for those taste buds already familiar with the healthy, surprisingly good-tasting fruit blends known as Mona Vie Original, Active, Pulse, Emv and Kosher. The new selection of fruits will create new followers, too.
     The new functional food beverage called Mmun will bear within its ingredients many vitamins and minerals, including zinc, that are targetted toward assisting the immune system toward optimum health benefits.
     Mmun is set for a January 5th, 2010 release to the public and will be sold through the independent distributor system already in place internationally through Mona Vie.

One may not realize such inflammations are present until experiencing illness or disease, and by then the immune system has been already compromised.
Nutrition is a series of functions providing fuel to the cells and removing waste products or dead cells from the body and it can be looked at as a balancing act. How well the body balances these two main activities determines the state of health of the body, and a lot of its success depends upon the quality of the fuel (food) provided to it.
A new functional food beverage coming in early January 2010 from Mona Vie, called "Mmun" (Immune), is designed for promoting immune system health maintenance, and it comes at a good time of year - the flu and cold season in the dead of winter. Early understanding is that this new whole food blend of 19 fruits will feature the MAQUI berry grown in South America and will include vitamins and minerals, including zinc, to help maintain healthy immune system functioning.
In a world of fast-foods and lack of time and education put into healthy daily diets, the introduction of such a targeted functional food drink is welcome...and anticipated.
The lingering pain in my right shoulder joint disappeared after only 3 days drinking only 4 ounces daily;
2.   Pains in my hip tendons - a result of a auto accident from 20 + years ago - have totally gone away after a month;
3.   I have lost about 12 pounds weight and about 2 inches from my waist after 5 weeks;
4.   My sleep averages 5-6 hours nightly, which is about 2-3 hours less than I needed before, yet I awake alert and raring to go! (I am 62 years old), and I experienced this right away;
5.   I have had less need for daily vitamin/mineral supplements, so have saved some costs;
6.   I have increased vitality and alertness when drinking the all-natural energy drink;
7. By sharing the product with others I have enabled an extra income stream that covers all my product costs...and gives me the feeling I have helped others, too.

There have been other benefits as well, but these I'd rather share with people who will contact me to find out more about the business opportunity. I am looking for a few energetic people or couples who are looking for something better to achieve their goals and dreams.

fruits & veggies for health

Why do we eat?
I asked that of six people at my presentation the other day, and they all replied, "Because we get hungry!"
So I asked, "Why do you get hungry?"
No one replied at all, leading me to conclude there is a disconnect from what people feel and what they understand about their bodies.
We eat certain foods based upon our desire for enjoyment, but from the body's perspective it wants nutrients - fuels - to accomplish the many tasks needed to keep on surviving.
Nutrients are what is in food, that the body uses. "Nutrition is the process of what happens after those nutrients pass the lips." (source: Dr. Ralph Carson, PhD) If the nutrients are healthy and convenient to the body, the process of nutrition will be good for the body; bio-availability is the term for that concept.
Fruits, especially wild harvested fruits are particularly good for the body. They are easily eaten as solid foods or in liquid form. The nutrients are readily available and easily absorbed for the most part. Indeed, in some fomulas these fruit nutrients can be useful to cell membranes within ten heartbeats!
When Mom told you, "Eat your fruits and vegetables...she was right!" as long as those foods were also packed with many nutrients the body wanted and needed for fuel. Today, this is rare but not impossible to find, and less than 11% of the American public eats at least 3 fruits daily.
New products entering a new category in the marketplace called, "functional food beverages" are bringing back fruits and vegetables and these will be able to sustain health and even help correct deficiencies that are leading to inflammations and illnesses.
I posed that question to several people recently, and their majority answer was, "Because we get hungry."
So, I asked a follow up question, " Why do you get hungry?" and no one really could answer that question.
What that told me was people are carting bodies around and not understanding enough about them, perhaps in the process not understanding why sometimes they ache and have pain. (Aches and pains are kickbacks from the body and are signals that something is not optimum or that a change is needed in the fuel they are getting.)
From the body's point of view getting hungry signals it needs fuel to continue operating well. After all, it is more of a machine, and machines need fuel. The better the fuel the better the machine runs.
If the body was an auto motor without any fuel or oiled parts it would run roughly and eventually seize up...and they do: they get sick.
Engine parts need lubrication to prevent friction buildup, which equates in bodies as inflammation. Too much of either friction or inflammation brings on poor operation or, as we often call it with bodies, illness or disease.
Hunger pangs are signals to be listened to and fed to keep a body running at all. The quality of the fuel - food and drink - put into the body will satisfy or not those hunger pangs, and the human needs demanded for operation.
Engines, machines and bodies run poorly, okay or well, depending upon the quality of the fuel given them. The human body machine is no exception; it works best when the fuel it is given has ingredients that are best for it.
The ingredients in food are called nutrients, and what happens to these nutrients beyond the lips is known as nutrition. Nutrition is the process of what happens when the nutrients are used by the body, specifically body cells. And living machines depend upon this nutrition process for survival and the quality of its survival.
The quality of your living condition - your survival - depends on the quality of your nutrition. In other words, if you wish to have a high quality of living in your body years, young or old, you will have to give your body good fuel, adequate fuel and maybe even high quality fuel that can sustain health and even correct poor health conditions.
And that is where the next blog post will take us: to examine the quality of food alternatives for human bodies.

Whole Foods Or Supplements?

Although many people find some benefit from the use of supplements added to their diets, it is important to remember what are supplements. Supplements are, by definition, "something added to fill up or supply deficiency..."
Supplements as a regular part of diets came into use as a result of the discovery that natural foods eaten by our ancestors provided more actual nutrition than processed foods do today. We are eating more and getting less healthy. When foods are less good for us supplementation becomes necessary.
Vitamins and minerals are in large part why we eat at all. It's not just the food we need; it's what's in the food that counts. But if your body is to be nourished from foods you eat it must be able to break down that food, extract the vitamins and minerals from it and assimilate those ingredients. Too often the processes for making supplements also makes them inaccessible for assimilation, and the expected results are never realized when these aids pass through the body un-utilized.
With vitamin and mineral supplementation the more important consideration is what is known as the "delivery system." These are methods of delivery of the nutrients into the body, and they include various coatings - natural and synthetic, fast-acting or timed release approaches, capsules, gels, tablets and liquids, even spray mists. All delivery systems have one goal: to preserve the nutrients and enable the body to assimilate their ingredients. Since every body is different, the results vary, and it becomes much more of a guessing game - with the consumer doing most of the guessing - as to which approach works best for one's self.
Just about everyone we know who has taken the time to study up on supplementation and learn about vitamins and minerals and delivery systems, arrives at one conclusion: that the way our predecessors ate would be simply better...and easier. The natural foods industry came into being from this conclusion. Organic farming and products have grown as an alternative as a direct result of this renewed awareness that natural whole foods provide the most efficient nutrition, especially when minimally processed.
We are learning we can be healthier with less supplementation of our diets if what we eat is healthier...and that the healthiest foods are not processed foods but foods grown and handled as closely to the way Mother Nature intended as possible.

amazon berry juice for health

We have found an opportunity for healthy support of your daily diet with the acai berry from the Amazon forests of Brazil. Many others have discovered these benefits before us, but we're excited to tell you more about it.
The acai berry is one of the few foods on Earth that can sustain itself - it can survive on its own.
