Death Knight spec options and Rotations in Patch 4.+

So i did play a DK early on when they were first released, and well it was the first toon that i actually hit the level cap with, then they were nerfed a bit. But now in patch 4.1 they are quite strong again in both PVP and PVE.

I have found a bit of stuff on them so i thought i would post it here, check it out.

Cataclysm 85 Hunter Best in Slot Gear Options, Obtainable Gear and Enchants

Anyway Here goes, I have listed the initial obtainable gear from just quest rewards and getting faction gear, and a few PVP pieces. I really just prefer PVP rather than just maxxing the DPS in PVE. So these are obviously a good place to start for gear and not best of the best, I can list this later on if anyone wants it ;). Anyway its a good place to start. I found a great site that you can punch in your class and spec and it will show u all the best items for you spec and the most popular Gems and Enchants to get as well, its at MaxDps.com

Consider the fact that you can get Acorn of the Daughter Tree from The Guardians of Hyjal upon leaving Mount Hyjal and, at the time of writing this, you can get Sweet Perfume Broach through spamming the Royal Crown queue. While not as good, you save yourself a huge chunk of coin for 13 ilvls of stats and if you're in a good raiding guild, you'll potentially have access to Necklace of Strife which is BiS prior to heroics for some classes.

It makes me wonder if dumping anything north of 10 - 15k is worth it simply because it's purple.

Every now and then...in a very great while...you get lucky in WoW.

I was browsing through the Auction House while waiting for a Guild raid invite.

Armor > Miscellaneous > Neck, Epic filter, search. Don Rodrigo's Fabulous Necklace pops up, with a buyout price of 3K. I did a double take, clicked it to make sure that I wasn't seeing things, and bought it immediately. Reforged haste to hit, equipped, got my invite and entered Blackwing Descent very, very happy.

Cataclysm Priest 85 Shadow Spec Gear Options

I never know what gear to get first when starting to PVP on a fresh noobed level 85 Priest, so i thought i would list some of my findings here.

usually i just find a shadow priest that is doing massive damage in battle grounds and just check there gear/spec, but i have found a couple of useful posts on this one. I think we can forget about spirit for the moment, for shadow as the mana usage pretty much just sux anyway no matter how much spirit you have, however you can get the spirit geat and reforge it to Haste for a better option. Plus get the +spel pen cloak as well and that will be mostly enough for most players apart from mages where you need around 225 or so spell pen.

PVP Mage Spec Frost Options in Cataclysm, what should i cloose?

So you’ve recently hit 85, done a couple of bg’s or tol barad, and your getting a bit pwned. What spec do i choose?

Yeah this happened to me today, I know you cant ding 85 and be super leet straight away, well im my case i may never be, but hey i can dream (or practice). Went to the Auction house and bought up all the PVP Craftable Blues ended up with about 900 res and butt all spell power. So now im hitting like a wet sponge and getting wtfpwned quite often. Also the dam mobs are kicking my ass, even in tol. what the hell am i doing wrong? I think it all comes down to gear and maybe spec

I have found two frost specs that are quite decent. but really you need the gear to back it up, and you have two options really, get pwned in battle grounds for about a week or two, or alternatively fall asleep playing all the PVE content to get the DPS gear, and lets face it resiliance for a mage, really? i guess it all helps, but we are squishy and should really be playing keep away for most of the time anyway, not like we can just stand there and take it for long .

Tempest's Cataclysm Mage PvP Basics Vid

So i am still leveling my mage at the moment... however its always good to see someone elses point of view when it comes to PVP. Found this one on the wow forums, looks like a two part series should be a good viewing. I have re-arranged the original post source to include the vids, i know it was hard work ;) but hey makes for easier viewing and readage. Anyways out of sheer boredom I decided to make a mage guide I managed to get some good clips (all of it was filmed in one day other than the scene on the docks vs the boomkin and warlock which was 3.3.5), so I decided that I should probably put them to use... anyways it's a 2 part movie just read the description, and it takes a while to load in from youtube since its popup so you can get the full quality.

Ok so it cant be a guide beyond Cataclysm, but hey it has a good ring to it... ;) What the opposite of beyond, (checks google) Hmm, well that was no help, and unrelated to this post anyway. So I have been leveling my new mage just lately, and going through all of the changed content and locating all of the new quest hubs etc, and i have to say its pretty cool what blizzard have done to the wow leveling flow in cataclysm. It all flows together nicely and there are a lot more connecting quest chains and they break it up with a few different and fun quests here and there, but if you just feel like grinding through the level you can do that as well. I have just hit 73 on my dranei mage and it has started to get a lot slower, 60 - 70 was a breeze and before that was amazingly quick compared to how long it used to take! Even battle grounds are ok to go in every now and again being alience i tend to win more than on the horde side overall, and wins can get you about 25% of a level in the 30's and 40's. not so much in the higher levels, but you can still get about 100k exp from winning an av and thats only about 20-30 minutes of game time, so its pretty comparable.

I was looking for a bit of extra advice on power leveling as well, not the bad powerleveling that you pay for but the stuff that just helps you with general leveling in wow, dont get distracted, and concentrate, try not to get bored ;) i was leveling the other night and watching a movie, that definately slowed down my leveling process :P probably due to not being able to concentrate on more than one thing at a time, might be a male thing.

Anyway here is a few tips on powerleveling that i found:

Five golden rules of powerleveling

Minimize Downtime

Downtime is whenever you are not killing mobs or completing quests. Examples for downtime include regenerating mana or hitpoints, traveling, chatting, attacking other players, reading or dieing.
For obvious reasons downtime directly hinders your goal of leveling as fast as possible. Keeping these activities to a bare minimum is the most important aspect of power leveling.

Maximizing Burst Damage

The second most important thing when powerleveling is how fast you can kill mobs. Both single mobs and groups of mobs. Burst damage is greatly impacted by your spec (think protection versus fury), your gear level and your playstyle. And to a lesser extent by consumables, buffs and reforging/stat choices.

Play alone

To clarify right away: I do not have any math showing how grinding instances with a fleshed out 5 man group compares to leveling by questing. But if 70 – 80 is any judge, leveling by questing will be at least as fast but without the drawbacks of leveling in a group. You set the pace, you decide when to take breaks, you rely on your preparation and expertise instead of the preparation and expertise of other people. The method of power leveling purely in instances is not the focus of this text. Much rather the focus is on leveling by questing and grinding.
Questing in a group of multiple people always has drawbacks that can never outweigh the benefits. While „killing-quests“ are typically (slightly) faster in a group, a lot of drop-specific quests are much slower in groups and you will find yourselves waiting for mob respawns a lot. Not the mention the downtime is increased significantly for a group with multiple players.

Always know your next steps

Use a guide; preferably with an addon that goes hand-in-hand with the guide.
If possible use a second screen to always display the guide so you can read while you travel or grind. Always read at least the next paragraph in the guide so you know what you will be doing after the current task. This is to make sure you don't travel unnecessarily or separate tasks that should be persued together.

Stay awake

Only read this paragraph if you consider leveling to 85 hardcore.
My personal, most important advice: Do not drink alcohol when trying to stay awake and focused for a long period of time. Alcohol will get you very, very tired very fast.
Most people (including me) will find listening to music while leveling stimulating and keeping you going.
Caffeine is your friend, but you need to use it the right way:
Caffeine works by changing the chemistry of the brain. It blocks the action of a natural brain chemical (adenosine) that is associated with sleep. Adenosine is produced by your daily activity, especially by physical exercise.
To a nerve cell, caffeine looks like adenosine. Caffeine, therefore, binds to the adenosine receptors. However, it doesn't slow down the cell's activity as adenosine would. The cells cannot sense adenosine anymore because caffeine is taking up all the receptors adenosine binds to. So instead of slowing down because of the adenosine level, the cells speed up. The „problem“ is, that adeonosine keeps building up while caffeine is blocking the adenosine receptors. So as soon as the caffeine loses its effect, you have a lot of adenosine around that will rapidly occupy all the receptors. This happens very fast and you will turn from being totally focused to dead tired in a matter of minutes. Drinking a coffee or an energy drink will flood the brain with caffeine for a short amount of time. It usualy takes 15-30 minutes to feel the effect, which then peaks around 30-60 minutes after consumption.
So once your body decides that you are tired, you would have to drink a coffee around every 2 hours at least to stay focused and you would still feel a lot of „ups“ and „downs“ when the caffeine peaks and declines.
A much better way is to rely on a continuous, controlled flow of caffeine that never peaks or declines but keeps a steady level to prevent you from becoming too tired. You might know the substance that provides just this effect under the name of „Guarana“. Guarana capsules usually work over several hours (typically 5-6), emitting a steady flow of caffeine (the exact same thing that you get when drinking coffee). Designed to keep you awake when feeling tired as opposed to coffee, which is good to „remove“ tiredness when you are rested; which is why coffee is consumed to wake up.
Enough of the medical lessons. You can get guarana capsules prescription free (in most countries?) at your local apothecary. I suggest you learn some more about the effects of guarana or ask your pharmacist about them before trying them out. Just to clarify again: Guarana is NOT a drug. It is identical to the caffeine chemical derived from other sources, such as coffee and it is classifed as GRAS in the United States.

Note: This rule is for crazy gamers! For you health, I suggest that Life first, Game Second! lol!

Take care of yourself

Don't carry leveling to excess.
Make sure you always feel comfortable or immediately stop playing!

Here a few tipps:

Always have water or tea on your desk (or any neutral beverage) and don't forget to drink enough.

Eat two or three times a day. You will notice you won't be as hungry as usual simply because your body is burning much less calories. It's only a couple days, so go all out on pizza, lasagna and what else makes you happy (and can be eaten at your computer :P). I would say try to eat some fruits/vegetables too etc, but yeah, **** that.

Again, no alcohol or drugs apart vom caffeine.

Care about hygiene. It is much more comfortable to play after a shower.

Make sure your Monitor is at least 50cm away from your eyes. If your eyes start to hurt, take a break or stop power leveling.

Maybe stick around in your Teamspeak to keep some company and to motivate eachother. But it can be distracting, especially if people keep asking stuipid questions about where to find quest objectives.

Turn off your mobile phone and lock the door if you have a toilet & fridge in your room. For a second you thought I was serious here, right? Powerleveling is nice and fun, but don't do it at the cost of the people around you.

Now just on a small side note about leveling mages, i was arcane for ages while leveling in the low levels and that was doing pretty well for me. I switched out to frost spec at about 40 or so and have been leveling as frost all the way to 73, after reading a bit a lot of people are going fire now for leveling, i might give that a try and see how it goes.

Frost is quite easy though for leveling, Just do a Frost Fire, then ice bolt x2, and ice lance and finish with a fire blast if its still going. Then when you get the freeze spell (cant remember exactly what level thats at) has a 30 sec cd, and then u just freeze the mob and hit them with 3 ice lance crits, gonski! ;) Anyway ill check out a fire pve build and see how that goes, leveling as ice gets a bit same old after about 30-40 levels anyway :P

I found a pole on mmo champ and the results about leveling mages were, Arcane (9%), Fire (71%), Ice (20%). So it seems fire is the way to level.

My mage has some rather horrid gear for a level 80. I logged onto the PTR last night to mess around with fire, and much to my surprise I pulled 5400 DPS in a fight against one of the new encounters for the pre-Cata event. This was done knowing very little about a fire rotation (Hey, I've been Arcane!), and without my normal bindings.

My thoughts on it? Scorch is insane. Quick little spell that you can cast while moving with talents, doing 5K a shot. Oh, and it's free and freaking FAST. All I did was spam the hell out of it and fire of Pyroblast when it procced. I loved it. Considering the last time I used Fire on my mage (August of 2007), I will definitely have this as one of my specs. It's just so much fun.

Everyone says 'go frost,' so that's mostly what you see (sheeple). The best spec is the one you have the most fun with. I levelled my mage fire all the way. When dungeoning with groups that outgear you and/or the content, your dps will suffer because of the time factor mentioned above. All things equal, fire does very well. The non-fire spells in combo do very well indeed.

Is there a Disc priest pvp buff in the upcoming Patch 4.0.6?

So apparently Ghost Crawler has announced some pretty crazy priest BUFFS! it should hit the test realms soon!

Lets see what we have here. Oh yeah, disc wont suck anymore. /yay. (or maybe it was just me, heh) ah well im playing my mage now so eh. But still good news for disc pvp priests. Ill break down the official disc list here, ill skip the boring bits...

PVP Buff: Focused Will now procs when the priest is critically hit, in addition to its current effect. : so that means that now it will stack?

PVP Buff: Improved Power Word: Shield now also increases the amount absorbed by an additional 15/30% when cast on oneself. : but i did hear that the mana cost for shield is also being increased so you still cant spam it (too much).

PVP Buff: Pain Suppression is no longer dispellable.

Penance mana cost has been increased by 7%, but healing has been increased by 20%.

PVP Buff: Strength of Soul now also causes the priest to become immune to silence, interrupt, and dispel effects for 2/4 seconds after using Inner Focus.

PVP Buff: Glyph of Pain Suppression has been renamed Glyph of Desperation and now allows Guardian Spirit to be cast while stunned, in addition to Pain Suppression.

PVP Buff: Glyph of Spirit of Redemption has been converted into Glyph of Prayer of Mending, which increases the healing done by the first charge of Prayer of Mending by 60%.

Now i have probably overlooked some of them so check out the official list below, but its looking good. Hmm do i want to go back to playing my priest or keep leveling the mage.

Here goes the list of changes for Priests happening in Patch 4.0.6:

The duration of Levitate has been increased to 10 minutes, up from 2.

The mana cost of Power Word: Fortitude has been reduced by approximately 68%, making it roughly equal to the cost of Mark of the Wild.

The mana cost of Power Word: Shield has been increased by approximately 31%, but its effect has been increased by 208%.

The mana cost of Renew has been reduced by 24%.

The mana cost of Shadow Protection has been reduced by approximately 65%, making it roughly equal to the cost of Mark of the Wild.

Mind Blast damage has been significantly increased. It should be roughly 50% greater than Mind Spike.

Mind Control now has a PvP duration of 8 seconds.

Mind Sear can now be channeled on friendly targets in addition to enemy targets. In addition, Mind Sear's damage has been increased by roughly 15%.

Prayer of Healing effectiveness has been reduced by 15%.

Talent Specializations

Discipline

Divine Aegis: Critical effects from Prayer of Healing now award a bonus amount in addition to the default, always-proc Divine Aegis effect.

Grace is no longer limited to one target at a time.

Focused Will now procs when the priest is critically hit, in addition to its current effect.

Improved Power Word: Shield now also increases the amount absorbed by an additional 15/30% when cast on oneself.

Pain Suppression is no longer dispellable.

Penance mana cost has been increased by 7%, but healing has been increased by 20%.

Strength of Soul now also causes the priest to become immune to silence, interrupt, and dispel effects for 2/4 seconds after using Inner Focus.

Blessed Resilience will now proc when the priest is critically hit, in addition to its current effect.
Chakra

Chakra states now last 1 minute, up from 30 seconds.
Binding Heal and Holy Word: Serenity now refresh the duration of Renew on the target, in addition to the other direct heals.

Binding Heal, Flash Heal, Greater Heal can now trigger Chakra: Serenity.

Mind Spike can now trigger Chakra: Chastise.

Circle of Healing effectiveness has been increased by 30%.

Desperate Prayer now heals the priest for 30% of their total health, up from a very subpar value.

Guardian Spirit: The absorb/heal from this ability can now never exceed 200% of the maximum health of the target.

Holy Concentration now increases the amount of mana regeneration from Spirit while in combat by an additional 15/30%, down from 20/40%.

Holy Word: Chastise now has a 30-second cooldown, up from 25. In addition, it properly breaks from damage.

Lightwell's health has been increased by 50% (for PvP purposes).

Serendipity now has Spell Alert and Floating Combat Text feedback support.

Surge of Light can now also proc from Flash Heal and Greater Heal, and can now also critically hit.

Shadow

Shadow Orbs benefit from mastery has been increased by approximately 16%.

Vampiric Embrace now lasts until canceled.

Glyphs

Glyph of Mind Flay no longer requires Shadow Word: Pain to be on the target.

Glyph of Pain Suppression has been renamed Glyph of Desperation and now allows Guardian Spirit to be cast while stunned, in addition to Pain Suppression.

Glyph of Psychic Horror now reduces the cooldown of Psychic Horror by 30 seconds, down from 60.

Glyph of Spirit of Redemption has been converted into Glyph of Prayer of Mending, which increases the healing done by the first charge of Prayer of Mending by 60%.

See the PSP isnt doing so bad after all coming in at number 3, but it has been around for a little while now

The XBox 360 and PS3 are neck and neck at 44.6 million and 41.6 million respectively, give or take a couple of million.

And yes it does hit for about 11 on a mob that is level 47. So watch out, Oh and it comes with a full 10 minute cooldown, just to stop u spamming the 11 damage ranbow and therefore overpowering your class... ;)

A friend sent me this level flow diagram, i think it comes via MMO Champion. I just posted it up here for my leveling reference really. Will make things a lot easier when it comes to leveling up a new toon, as i am doing at the moment for some strange reason. Still wondering if i should level a druid or a mage, im kinda leaning towards the mage at the moment. Just cos its good clean DPS fun ;) Still only level 28, but will keep me busy until the official launch.

Time for Some SC2 2v2 Strategy

Vs Zerg

The problem with vs Zerg is that they expand out too dam quick, and have superior mobility to keep the other player on defence the whole game.

VoirDire from Sweden said:

The build/strat goes something like this:
One zerg 14 hatch into 14 pool and techs to mutas fast with 4 gases.
Other zerg 13 pool into fast roaches until deemed safe from a rush.
When mutas are up, harass to keep other team in their bases while expanding.
If other team builds lots of static defence to hold of the harass, tech to broodlords.

The first in-base expo is easy to hold due to the shared bases and the long distances so that at least one zerg can 16 hatch and pump 4 gases worth of mutas super fast. The other zerg can easily defend agains a fast rush from two players due to the long rush distance and the fact that roaches own all tier 1 units. The other team on the other hand has to account for all the rushes avaliable to zergs (Like double 8-pool/One zerg banelings, other zerg speedlings/roach+3 queens-attack etc) and can't safely fast expand.

The zerg team then has superior mobility all game long with muta/speedling and near complete map information due to overlords and creep tumors. They can expand safely and deny the other team from ever advancing/attacking due to the fact that no expos has any common chokepoints and cannot be properly defended without a large portion of the army posted there.

The zerg team can see if the other team fast expands with their first overlords and then just expand more while harrasing with mutas.

If the other team invests in a lot of static defences one zerg just techs up to brood lords and destroys it.

If the other team invests in air units the zerg team just build a lot of corruptors which is the best antiair unit in the game.

Drops/sneak attacks can easily be spotted in with two players worth of overlords and creep tumors scatterd across the map and the superior mobility of mutas/speedlings/nydrus.

Anyone's got any good strategies/theories on what would work against a double z-team on Twilight Fortress?

Thors should work as mineral line defenders against mutas... I have yet to try that, but teching to, and building, thors gives the zergs even more time to expand.

I have countered this strat with terran by just, massing troups and doing all upgrades. He actually just send down a lot of flyers and after this i just built lots of turrets and then started building goliaths, usually about 4 will do it, and take out a while army of flyers easy.

Then i just keep pumping out the supply depo's cos u need like 1 for each two goliath's almost.just be chaining these, and try and get a second command center out and pump up the mineral harvesting to keep up.

Just a few (many) good disc priest tips i copied from the wow forum here, good read. Thx to the original post by Synikul.

I have largely noticed that within these forums and the AJ forums there doesn’t seem to be a comprehensive guide for priests that goes over the basics. I see a lot of bad advice given by mediocre priests (and by no means am I saying I am amazing) that don’t know what they are talking about.
For that reason I want to make a guide just going over the basics of a discipline priest, sort of like the raiding guides that are at the top of these forums.
So that being said lets begin.

Two Disclaimers: First, I might have made mistakes, I am writing this waiting for a lab that’s 4 hours away and since I am in the middle of the JHMS Library, I am not putting that much research into it, so just correct me and it will be fixed. Second, I am not going into complex strats for 2346 vs Euro (haha) etc… it’s just the basics of what you need to know to begin PvPing.

First let’s go over our STRENGTHS and WEAKNESSES

Strengths:
Disc Priests are the only class that has offensive AND defensive dispels, as well as the only healer class with a MD that can remove Bubble and Ice Block.
Disc Priests have many abilities to reduce damage instead of constantly healing.
Disc Priests have Mana Burn which can force players to play defensively (ex: using it on mages) or allow you to flat out OOM the other healer allowing for a fairly easy win.
Disc Priests have very good defensive spells such as Pain Suppresion.
Disc Priests have strong offensive abilities that combined with trinkets, power infusion, lightweave procs etc.. can allow for quick switches that combined with a DPS can do a lot of damage.
Disc Priests have AOE heals, Single Target heals, HoTs and Divine Hymn which heals for a lot and out of LoS.
Disc Priests can fit in every bracket very easily.

Weaknesses:
We die very quickly once our shields are down. If you don’t get a peel (your partner doesn’t get the DPS off you via whatever means of CC etc) you will probably die soon.
We are not very mobile, meaning we don’t get much opportunity to drink.
We have terrible mana regen compared to other healers.
PvE gear does next to nothing for us, unless you are human and can use the Solace of the Fallen.
All we have is fear. Once that is gone, its up to your partner to help you.

Now if you look at that list you might think, yay, dpriests are super strong. But remember, the two weaknesses I outlined are huge weaknesses that you have to overcome to do well. We are very partner dependent because of our lack of survivability, a terrible form of CC and mana regen is one of the most important stats in arenas. That being said, we are a very viable class, with a decent learning curver and one that is very fun once you get a hang of it.

GEMS
On gems, always gem for things that you find will benefit you the most. There are no set "sockets" unless you are in full PvP s7 gear and have no PvE gear.
Blue: If you are a tailor and have the back enchant (keep it), then you probably have to pick up spell penetration from somewhere. You can gem 25 spell pen, or 12 sp 10 spen to fill this socket and gain offensive power. If you are new to PvP and lack stamina (PvE gear) you can gem 30 stamina, or 12 sp 10 stamina. If you need res and stamina, you can gem 12 stamina 10 resilience.
Yellow: You can gem 20 resilience. You can gem 12 stam 10 resilience. If you feel you are doing well on the defensive end you can gem 12 sp 10 resilience.
Red: You can gem 12 sp 10 resilience for a good balance. You can gem 23 SP to gain offensive and some defensive stats (spellpower largely helps for offensive abilities though).
Top end priests that have 900 or more resilience, and around 24 to 25k hp will generally start gemming spellpower. Remember, priests are a strong healing class because we can contribute in quick switches to get kills!

Meta
Grab one of two gems. Either the spell power stun reduction (I recommend this one) or if you went for hit 12 hit 12 crit on your boots grab the spellpower minor speed meta. Once you get to the point where games are decided by how much you get drinks off/how much mana you retain/efficacy of heals/damage you should grab the 21int/mana back gem.

Now lets go over little tips that can improve your game on various classes.
A lot of these are obvious but its still things that are good to know.

TIPS
First, Shadow Word: Death can be used to get out of any CC mechanism that breaks on damage. This includes Sheep, Blind, Frost Shatter etc. Basically, if (for example) a mage is sheeping you, stopcast your spell and SWD him. The spell will hit him, and then rebound and do damage to you. If you time it so the damage hits after he sheeps you, you will break out! Find a mage friend and practice this. Its very necessary on mage teams.

Second, Divine Hymn takes you out of combat. It also works out of LoS. So you can go behind a pillar, DH to keep your partner up, and then immediately drink.

Power Infusion lowers your mana cost and increases your casting speed. This has two big effects. First, you can res your partner in 5 seconds by power infusing yourself, bubbling yourself for the 45% haste increase and then res’ing. Second, you can get fast, mana efficient mana burns by popping PI. Finally, you can get relatively mana-cheap dispels by using it. That’s why you will see top priests using PI at points where they are not even casting heals or burns.

Bubble stealth partners to make sure they don’t get popped out with things like Desecration. As long as they don’t take damage they should remain stealthed.

Make sure you chain Gargoyles and other undead creatures when fighting DKs. This includes Lichborne. By chaining the gargoyle and then going LoS, you will not be getting hit for 2k every cast.

GLYPHS
Major glyphs:
Pain Suppression – This is a must for it allows you to use it when stunned. A lot of times kills on you will happen when a rogue stuns you, or a ret repentances you etc.. If you can pop PS, that lets you not become a quick kill.
Penance – Reduces CD by 2 seconds. This is fairly self-explanatory. The more penances you can cast, the more likely you are to survive (or keep your partner up).

Now this is where you have a choice.
If you play an offensive comp (where you do a lot of damage when you switch to someone) then you want to get the Glyph of Smite. A lot of times when I play Priest Rogue, we end up fearing the opposing healer when he doesn’t have a trinket up and then we both DPS the kill target. With MB/SWD => Holy Fire, Smite I can do a lot of damage.

If you play a defensive comp (where you mainly heal) or your partners are bad at peeling and you have a lot of trouble keeping yourself up, go for the Shield Glyph which heals yourself when you use shield, or the Glyph of Inner Fire which increases your armor gained.

Your minor glyphs:
Glyph of Shadowfiend- when it dies you get 5% mana, this helps for people who kill your sfiend (some do.. why who knows?) or for when a druid cyclones it, it glitches or it gets stuck in desecration. At least this way you get some mana.
Glyph of Levitation- I use this for dispel protection. Did you throw out that fear ward, and that priest is rushing at you to fear and dispelling you? Hit this to make sure he doesn’t get it off. This is used for when you know the priest is about to come fear you, don't spam it to protect everything lest you go OOM.
Glyph of Fortitude- Often purges/dispels will take off PW:F. This is a lot of health... you should always keep it up. This makes it efficient.
Glyph of Shackle Undead- Good for DK's .. but thats about it.

Anything can be extended to mouseovers, flash heal, penance etc.. just replace dispel with that spells name =)

DISPELS
Some people don’t know what they can dispel, and that’s a huge thing to not know considering its our strength. I will outline what you should dispel on every class when you face them.

Paladins:
Blessings: Dispel these once. If they keep reapplying, don’t worry about it. If they don’t ( a lot don’t) you just took off a huge buff.
Sacred Shield: Looks like your bubble but cooler and more golden. Always, always take this off. It not only helps their healing, it absorbs a lot of damage. Take this off themselves or their partners.
Bubble(Divine Shield): Mass Dispel this. It makes them immune to all damage.
Repentance: If it is on your partner, dispel this. Its basically like a hammer that stuns you/partner for a few seconds.
Hand of Sacrifice ( will be on their partner): Dispel this as it shares damage and if you are CCing the pally, then their sharing damage can break a CD like blind or sheep.
Divine Plea: If the holy pally is not protection specced then dispel this. However DP reduced the pally's healing in half, so if you have the pally OOM and you are about to put out a lot of damage on their partner, let them have it.

Shaman:
Ghost Wolf: Dispel this, it’s a magic buff and they will use this to get away from your partner or to help peel if they are DPS.
Earth Shield(or any shield): Dispel this, it heals them every time you hit them and if you they put it on their partner they might survive your fear -> DPS chain.
Flame Shock: Dispel this quickly, its going to lead to a hard hitting, insta lava burst. Be warned when you dispel this they will get a haste increase so be warned that you need to move out of the way when you do this.

Druids:
Innervate: Single handedly the MOST important spell to dispel. Make sure you are dispelling the druid when he starts to go OOM, because he will cover his innervate with other spells that you can dispel to protect that innervate. You must take this off as soon as it is up.
HoTs: Dispel most of these, esp on your kill target.
Thorns: Dispel this, it can do a lot of damage on whoever attacks the kill target.
Mark of the Wild: Dispel this, its resistance to magic can allow them to resist fear, mind control etc.
Entangling Roots: If its on your partner dispel it. If its on you because they are running to innervate, get it off quick.

Mage:
Ice Block- MD this depending on the situation. If you are killing the mage and he uses it to survive, go for the dispel. If its just defensive to get rid of a blind or something, don’t worry about it, you could do better things with that time.
Focus Magic – Extra crit for the mage and the person it is on. Its got to go.
Sheep: Get it off your partner
Int- Extra intellect, also must go =)
Ice Barrier: Protects against a lot of damage, you need to take this off quickly
Anything that freezes you (Nova, Frostbite Procs, Ranged Nova) – This opens you up for a Deep Freeze so dispel it fast.
Chill Effects- If the mage is the kill target you need to dispel these fast or else he will kite you forever.

Priests:
Bubble- Dispel that immediately, its our most important spell for keeping ourselves up.
Renew- Falls under HoTs, which much immediately go.
Grace- Increases healing, and covers more important spells, so dispel this.
Fort- Like a said, it’s a lot of stam so dispel that.
Fear Ward- Most important thing to get off in priest v priest matches. That fear is where you get a kill on their partner. For this reason, it’s a bad idea to buff FW on yourself at the beginning of a match. Its going to disappear fast.
Shadow Protection- Resisting fear = you lose, so make sure this goes off.
Divine Spirit- Taking this off makes our dismal mana regen even worse.
Fear- Dispel this off your partner

Warlocks:
Fear- Dispel off your partner
DoTs - Dispel those you can, leaving the curse (which you cant dispel) to allow you to bounce Prayer of Mending around.
UA Locks- If the lock is UA (Unstable Affliction) you want to make sure you dont dispel his DoTs, as it will silence you. Bouncing PoM should keep you up just fine, you may want to take it off if you start getting mana drained.

Hunter:
Black Arrow- Increase damage, and deals shadow damage so you have to get it off. (Special thanks to Healzalot for correcting me)
Freezing Trap- Get it off on your partner or whoever they are trying to CC

Death Knight:
Chains of Ice: Ugh, such an OP @#_$#@, make sure you get it off your partner or yourself.
Diseases: Dispel these off quickly. Cure Disease is your friend.. spam it.

SUMMARIZE OF DISPELS
Dispel anything that slows your partner. Dispel anything that slows you. Dispel anything that can lead to a burst chain (shatters, lava burst etc). In arena if you don’t know what happened to you, look at your combat log, find out what happened and ask someone you know that is good at that class what they think happened. If you see that priest do a 5 sec res ( which you should know all about by now) ask a priest how it might have happened.

Good Mods:
Gladius: One of the most important mods you can have as an arena player. It puts a ton of information about your opponents on a small informative series of bars. Its good to click on the "show target" icon that allows you to see who your opponents are targetting! This can tell you who they might be focusing, when a burn, charge, or sheep might be coming at you

I know, i havent posted in freakin ages! but im still here doin stuff. although less wow stuff and more other stuff these days.

Anyway, seeming as almost 50% (yeh thats just a guess...) of the wow population has quit, or at least seems to have on my server, not much is happening these days with anything. The PVP queues last for like 11 minutes, as im guessin everyone is now queuin for the PVE dailies and heroics. Eh what can u do eh, play something other than wow?

I login to the hunter or priest and queue for a wsg or ab, and wait 10 minutes and by that time im already bored of waiting and log back out. Maybe its just my server or something, idk.

Saw this dude playin (I Have No Friends Cleave) the other day, he can actually manage to be #1 in arena, by multiboxing 5 chars. Dam... Grabs 5x DPS all on one comp and just goes and pwns ppl.

Hunter Surv or Marks DPS, What Spec to Choose for PVE in 3.3?

I have been playing the hunter a bit lately with all the new easy LFG system. As i hadn't played for a few months, the gears and spec was getting away from me a bit. But after a bit of researching i came up with the following DPS specs.

My Gear isnt awesome, and the DPS is still a bit crap ~2.5k or so, but for 5 man heroics its more than enough while i gear up for the more srs stuff ;) Not that ill ever get there as im more casual than anything these days, but something to do to pass the time i spose.

I found a nice DPS Calculator/Spreadsheet from Female Dwarf, you can import all of your armory and gear settings into it, and it will tell you what DPS you should be hitting, quite useful.

This one is quite good for recommending gear upgrades: @ Hunterloot.

The rotation that you should be looking at with a Surv Build is:

Kill Shot

Explosive Shot

Black Arrow

Aimed or Multi Shot

Serpent Sting (Make sure it's always up)

Steady Shot

I think im going to go with one of these specs:

So wow is having its five year anniversary eh! Man that means ive been playing it for almost 5 years. Hmmm... Probably too much time spent in a fake world.

I guess you can add up the amount of time that is played via the amount of level 80's you have. Way too many, i think im up to about 5 now. And thats more than enough. I seem to get bored now when i hit 80 though. Eh idk, just not as fun for me any more playing wow.

I am enjoying some other games more now these days tho, such as Aion and if i can manage to get a beta testing key (prays) MAG.

Im also looking forward to starcraft 2, if that actually ever gets released. Apparently there is already rumours of a new Aion expansion. Maybe they will fix that dam rubberbanding problem, man that annoyed the crap out of me! walk for 5 steps, bounce back 2. Argh! Good reason to quit i spose.

Watching Good Game on my Iphone on the bus as usual the other day, and dam that was weird, they had replaced Junglist! I thought it must have just been a fill in for the episode or something, but then they went on with the new introductions and such, and well the new chick replacement is hot and all, i will miss the most excellent reviews that were provided by Junglist.

Then on searching as to what the hell had gone down, it appears that a scandle has occured, which no one can talk about due to some privacy policy or something layed down by the ABC. Anyway, He will be sorely missed as an awesome presenter on Good Game.

Power Leveling with another account in wow

You will need a tanking class, or just pull less mobs at a time if you have a hunter or a class that doesn't have as much damage mitigation. I have used this method with a 80 hunter. Also you will need another account so that you can log in with the noob character that you are leveling and the High level you will use for farming the instance. Also can be easily done with a frost spec mage. Some SM Maps are included down the bottom of this post.

Unfortunately the raid lockout applies after 5 resets in a one hour period. So if you just run SM Cath over and Over (can be done in about 5-10 minutes per run, once you get a method going), you will have to wait til it resets.

1-8 quest 1-2 hours

8-16 RFC: 2-4 pulls depending on gear. 8-12 minute runs. will have some lock-out time. log out.

16-20 deadmines: 11-13 minute runs including reset time. minimal looting.

20-43 SM cath/armory: CATH: 6-8 minutes 4 pulls , minimal looting and zone out after all the mobs die, run away from the boss to save time. zone into armory. ARMORY: 3 pulls. skip the last boss, skip looting last pull to save time. zone out, reset (12-15 minutes for both cath and armory)

43-47 took me 3 hours, and could have been done faster. i stayed in SM until level 45 (was catching a friend up). It wasn't really that bad though, it was decent xp (but could have been better)

43 - 53+ we skipped ZF and went straight to BRD. At 45 i was getting 80k / hour, my 43 friend was getting 65k.

On my shaman, i remember getting closer to 100-115k / hour in ZF, but i really didnt like the instance so we tried to skip it. didnt work out so hot, and we plan to go back to ZF until 50 (need mageweave as well).

Currently have a little over 19 hours played at 47, next stop is ZF.

Well i discovered today (even though it was probably changed a while ago now) that the epic land mount is available at level 40 and its price has been reduced quite a bit. /yay for my noob hunter. Here are the the new mount costs:

So it seems that there is more rogue bitching on the way with the Nerf to fan of knives. Aww poor rogues cant quite finish you off while you are in stunlock anymore? pfft.

Changes happen to all classes based on where we want them to be in many ways. That said, I'd like to hope that a 30% reduction in your Fan of Knives isn't going to be too much of a change for you that you can't overcome it. If it IS too much of a change then please feel free to share constructive feedback on how this change has affected you.

Also keep in mind there were only two other changes made to rogues in this patch. Envenom's scaling has been increased from 7% to 9% of attack power per combo point and there was a change to Master Poisoner in the Assassination tree. (No longer increases the Deadly Poison application rate following a successful Envenom and instead now provides a 33/66/100% chance of preventing Envenom from consuming Deadly Poison.)

We always welcome constructive feedback and often what happens when we patch is that we get a lot of quick reaction based on what people see as a decline in the numbers applied to their skills. In some cases, this concern may be justified and in others, it may just be a small overreaction until players get in to the game and experience it for themselves. There have been many changes over time that were seen as major until such a scenario played out and then people discovered it didn't change much about how they played or if it did, it did so in a way that benefited them more than they expected.

A few general arena healing strategies and tips

Found this post, its a bit old now but still relevant i think. Gives a few good tips on Arenas and healing just a few general points.

With my 2v2 team finally breaking 2000 rating, it's time for me to take stock of my experiences in arenas, and look to see how I can improve myself to push myself (and my team) to the next level.

While my experience is mainly in 2v2, I have done enough 3v3s and 5v5s to get used to the dynamic, though I would hardly count any of those teams I have to be successful (yet, anyway).

So, here are just a few of the things I've learnt, both in generic terms, and as they relate to my class, the priest.

Generic Healing Tips
POSITION POSITION POSITION
It is vital as a healer to watch where you're standing, I think more so than any other class/role. Hug pillars and constantly move in and out of line-of-sight of your opponents. Not only will this help you with ranged classes, but for melee classes, it has the potential to put the rogue/warrior/etc. who's attacking you out of line-of-sight of his/her healer. Nagrand is obviously best for this, as you can just kite around a pillar. You might want to change directions and head for another pillar after dropping a successful fear, but do this only if you know with certainty that you can make it there (don't try it if there's a hunter, for example). In the Ruins of Lordaeron, run around the tomb in the center, realizing that the four corners are deadzones for anyone standing on the tomb itself. In blades edge, the pillars at the bottom of the bridge are decent to work with (but realize that they aren't entirely circular, so it's harder to hug them). Also, the two small pillars on either side of the entrance to the bridge section (on top) are good deadzones to abuse. If nothing else, running up the ramp and jumping off the bridge is a good kiting tactic.

Bait Spell Lockouts/Interrupts
Even classes (like priests and druids) that have the ability to heal without ever casting should consider drawing silences/interrupts/etc. You want your opponents to spend their cooldowns at a point when you're still comfortable with your health (or your teammate's health). For druids and priests, getting a healing school lockout will allow you to get mind control or cyclone on one of your opponents.

Priest Tips
Mind Control
Use it. As described above, bait a school lockout by casting a heal, and use that opportunity to mind control your melee opponent. If nothing else, it will force them to burn their trinket cooldown (which then allows you to get a fear off). Blades edge is especially good for this: stand on the bridge, and mind control your opponent off, buying you priceless time.

Use your Trinket on Snares
It may seem obvious, but you shouldn't just save your trinket for true CCs (sheep/trap/etc.). A well timed trinket can help you gain some distance on your opponents, allowing you to survive for just that much longer.

Offensive Dispelling
This is something I always forget to do, but something that can turn the tide of the battle. Basically, if you're not healing, you should be dispelling your opponents.

Run and Heal
Where possible, I try to always have a finger on one of my movement keys. With prayer of mending, renew and power word: shield, we have 3 great instant cast healing spells. In a good game, these are the only healing spells you'll use. Continously refresh them on all your teammates, and keep running around while you're at it.

Well it seems that they stuffed up the titles this season and have given back arena titles even if you didnt really earn one this season, which means i spose it will be taken away again soon. So ill have to go back to the good old Blood Guard title. Ah well something different i spose.

Now i have to just pick and stick with a class! what class to play these days, I just cant decide. Hunters are going well now in arenas, ranking up fairly high. Although the popular character chart on sk gaming seems to be changing every dam week/day almost.

As if druids are second least popular class now... they still seem to be doing fine, but i guess its all relative to the top 100 classes anyway rather than the over all pvp, but still gives an indication to the popular or overpowered classes for the moment i think. Interesting to see that the warlocks are climbing back up again and warriors are obviously doing well now but not quite on the same level as the paladins. ;)

So what class to play:
I still like playing the priest the most at the moment i think, healing is quite fun in pvp as disc. and usually live a while as well. Hunter is ok as well, but i have a tauren and its just too dam big, and i would faction change to go to a be but then it would end up costing me, lets see ($30 + wait 60 days + $30) or i could move my alience 70 hunter over to horde, but then i have to grind the last 10 levels over again, is it worth it just to roll a BE. Probably not. DK i just cant get the hang of DK's not sure why just not my thing really. Rogue is also a pretty large learning curve, but idk.

Makes it even harder now that i dont have a lot of time to play these days, real life seems to be (and should be) taking a priority over all game playing shenanigans, so must pick a class and stick to it. Just which one to choose dam it.

Another arena season, number 7. Am i excited? Not really. I dont know why i spose it will be interesting to see what classes are op again after all the class changes goin on. I logged on about once this week to my priest and well, was kinda bored. Did some of the new battleground, and its more of the same i guess.

I used one of those scrolls that i had from leveling up inscription and it sent me to STV so i flew over to the horde camp there, and there was some noob ali pally killing all the npc's there, so i ran out and killed him once, and then he rezzed and came back for some more, and i ran back into the base after going oom, and got him to agro the whole place pretty much and he died again. /target noob pally and /lol. But anyway then he logs onto a horde alt that he made esp for me called nymosfail and starts crying about how much of a noob i am, etc obviously looking for a reaction, heh. Usually i bite and start name calling right back again but yeh it was quite funny and i just ended up loling at him :P

Anyway here is the blue about arena ending:
Bornakk: We are currently planning to end Arena Season 6 as early as August 25. At that point we will go through our normal process to determine who is eligible for the end-of-season rewards. This process should take approximately one week. It's very important for players who feel that they may be eligible for the arena-specific titles and/or Furious Gladiator’s Frostwyrm to refrain from transferring their character to another realm until after Arena Season 6 ends.

The following Arena Season will not begin for at least one week after the current season ends. During this time between seasons, all rated matches will be turned off and only skirmishes will be available. When Arena Season 7 begins, all team ratings, personal rating, and arena points will be wiped, but matchmaking rating and honor points will remain.

Loosing Interest in wow

Its been a weird week for me really, i havent logged in to wow at all. I have been busier with other things like life than normal. But I dont seem to be missing it at all.

When i do play its just the same old repitition over and over again, log in, should i do dailies again, do some more pvp, eh kinda boring. May as well just switch my brain off.

I guess it comes with not being interested in instances, or raiding, and pvp seems to be whatever class is flavor of the latest buff.

My latest char is a rogue, and well i just cant be motivated to sit in bg's and get my ass handed to me for several hundred thousand honor points to get him the gear to do well all over again.

I guess its just wow burn out vs real life at the moment. I have played the new battle ground a few times now, and its ok. Just like an update of AV yet usually shorter and less annoying as i havent played it over a million times yet.

Eh what to do. Even the content patch didnt help. Dam it. Apparently the Current Arena Season of Wow is almost over now, maybe that will re-light my interest. Maybe not, more of the same.
