Loved or Dreaded Big 'C'?

For my last pregnancy, I clearly remembered I dreaded the big C... so why did I not enjoy it? The biggest problem was CL herself... gave me so much problems and headaches...

Thank God this round no CL! Just lots of confinement goodies already prepared as of today... my mum will be around this time to help me, so alleluia!

Hopefully, with my mum around, I will be able to fully recuperate with lots of R & R... am planning to fully bf baby no.2 so of course I will still be a moo moo cow 24/7. Still remembered I was on my sofa bf Jayden most of the time during the first few months! Bf on demand is like that... was like a slave to Jayden......... :p Hardly had the time to do anything else... Can't imagine I am gonna go through this cycle again... God bless me!

Ok talking about confinement preparations, my aunt and my mum got around to getting all these stuffs for me from Ching Yen, a shop specialising in confinement stuffs, shop is in Klang. They are so professional these days... have so many packages for you to choose from and will specially pack for you everything individually for the 30 days.. hassle free...

Inside of the 'grenade' are little small balls, reminds me of the poh chai yi pills we take for tummy upset

My fridge is now dominated with these herbs! Had to rearrange my fridge to place all these packets of herbs inside. They mentioned herbs with dates inside has to be kept in the fridge.

So with all these preparations lined up.... am I ready????????

Honkee Porridge

Found a new makan place over the weekend! With this rule, you can't go wrong with Malaysian restaurants... I always pass by this restaurant and there are always people no matter what time it is... so where there's people, the food is bound to be good or at least not bad lah :-) I hate to try new places and am disappointed with the food... waste $ only!

After stuffing myself silly with spicy food recently, I decided to go easy... Jayden was also slightly unwell, so I decided porridge it is! Decided to try Honkee Porridge which I've passed by many many times but never felt like having porridge till over last weekend.

The Menu

It was such a hot day.... Jayden cooling down with a coconut :-)

Tried their specialty- Fish Porridge!

They serve the fish slices raw, and you cook it yourself, because they slice it very thinly, it cooks very fast from the heat of the porridge.

I thoroughly enjoyed this porridge, will definitely go back again for this!

We also ordered side dishes like century egg, fried popiah, yu char kueh etc.

After lunch, came home, and was delighted to have these pastries for tea! My all time favourite cream puffs from Berkerley, Klang, my mum gave us a surprise.... sweet :-) nom nom nom :p

In the evening, it was outdoor fun for Jayden, bubbles time!

My Saturday!

I wanted to watch the movie- 'What to expect when you're expecting' before I delivered as it's just so apt now that I'm preggie :-) So hubs suggested a movie marathon, it's been some time since we watched 2 movies back to back together... so we called it a movie date, just the both of us :-)

I chose What to expect when you're expecting and he chose The Avengers :-) So I asked him to get the movie tickets a day before so there's no rush, he got the couple seats.

This movie made me cry & laugh, you can really relate to it if you're parents, especially women who have kids, gone through labour :-)

This movie was really entertaining! As I'm only familiar with a few characters, it was quite fun to watch how all these super heroes join together to form 'The Avengers'.

I found Incredible Hulk damn funny... made me laugh!

We had a quick lunch at Uncle Lim's before the movie :-)

Dinner at Bawang Merah, hubs loves the nasi there... all his fav condiments.... rendang, tempe, telur goreng etc!

Stars and flowers

We had a stalk of rose at home from Mother's Day and it started to wilt. Jayden came to me with it and was so sad! He started to have tears in his eyes... Aiyoh my emo fella! So I tried explaining to him that all flowers will eventually die but he just didn't wanna accept it!

So I came up with the idea to use the rose to make something so it won't go to waste and yet Jayden will be able to admire and keep his rose ;-)

We had some star foam stickers and I took it out to make a card together with the rose petals and stalks of little flowers ;-)

Nice or not my artwork? I'm happy now cos I can still admire my flower and it won't 'die' ;-)

Confinement and Gift

Have finally settled my confinement food catering!

We have decided to go for Fong Chai Confinement food catering meals, we paid a deposit and settled for 2 weeks first and let's see how it goes. Hopefully the food is good! If within 2 weeks, we are not satisfied with the service or food whatsoever, still got chance to change... if we opt to pay 1 month rightaway, it's pretty hard to ask for a refund if anything goes wrong :p

They have options for you to stay in as well, but nothing is better than home sweet home.... :-)

On other preparations, hubs has set up the baby cot, just waiting till the last minute to put in the mattress and bedsheet instead of letting it collect dust, hospital bag also packed. Hmm... what else?

On another note, this morning, postman rang my doorbell, there was a pleasant surprise from my friend, A, she sent me a gift for baby #2 :-) so sweet of her. She is actually one of the mutual friends added on FB, and we just sorta 'clicked'. Thanks SO much dear, it's really a sweet thought.

After Jayden came to know about the cartoon- Tayo the Little Bus which I've blogged about before here, he's been hooked on it! :-) He can now memorise the theme song by hard and loves to sing anytime of the day... till the song is stuck in my head! :p

One day, I was just curious to see if I can find an app in the iTunes store... and really there's one! And it's free too :-)

Crabilicious Dinner

My mum knows I've been craving to have some finger lickin' good crabs before I deliver... And because hubs doesn't take seafood due to allergy, I've not eaten it for a long time! It's hard to order for just one person.

Today my mum said she'll buy dinner and it'll be a surprise. I thought to myself? Dinner? Surprise?

And then she came back with so many bags of food! Omg!

There were sweet and sour crabs, butter curry crabs, fried rice, long beans & omelette. The house smelled heavenly :p

She wanted to order just 1 crab per flavor but they said minimum 2 crabs per order. So altogether 4 crabs!

Fried mantou to accompany the crabs. Love to dip this in the sauce... Yumz!

This was just my plate alone... Hubs couldn't believe I ate almost everything! *burp* excuse me :D didn't take pictures of other food as I was so bz eating and licking my fingers :p

Our Mother's Day!

Had a lovely celebration with my loved ones yesterday on Mother's Day, we decided to have Italian at Italiannies :-) Love to go there since the atmosphere is nice plus the food portions are quite big, can share share, plus the food is delish too.

My sis, surprised us, the mummies with a cupcake bouquet! It was so pretty.... very sweet indeed. The whole restaurant kept looking at our table LOL!

Stainless steel lunchboxes!

Ordered some Korean stainless steel lunchboxes from G market recently, the goodies arrived all the way from Korea at my doorstep just a few days ago. I must say they are very efficient, I expected it to arrive in 1-2 weeks, but within a week, postman came ringing my bell!

Yipeee... been waiting for this to arrive :-)

What's inside the box, not all are mine :-) The rest belonged to my friend's 3 lucky boys, we shared the shipping cost :-)

I really love the quality of the lunchboxes, very strong and sturdy, easy to open too, taught Jayden once and he knows how to open and close :-) Love the interior too, stainless steel, very easy to clean and maintain!

Pangkor Fish Head Curry

Had dinner this evening with hubs and we opted for spicy food again! Haha... It's like we're on a vengeance to whack as much before we have to be good boy and girl once I deliver :p so mummy put on weight, and so does daddy :D

We had dinner at Pangkor Fish Head Curry in SS15, Subang Jaya. Thanks to a friend who recommended this place to us after they know we are fish head curry fans ;-) no idea why its name includes the island name Pangkor in it, maybe it's really famous over there? Never been to Pangkor :D

When the fish head curry was served, the aroma of the curry and the colour of it was so appetizing! Because there's no coconut milk in it, the colour is really fiery red. Shiokalingam.....

My other favourite was the Fried Lemongrass Calamari... Super good, thumbs up!!! Very fragrant with bits of deep fried Lemongrass slices and curry leaves. Sotong was super crunchy too! I had coconut to cool me down plus we also ordered a long beans omelette.

Do give it a try if you're a makan kaki like me, always on the hunt for good food :D good food must always share!

Happy Mother's Day!

Jayden came home with this special card for me today.......... awwwww my heart really melted, my very first Mother's Day card from my lil' man! :-))))))))))))))

He was so cute... when I opened his bag to check for message book, take out his bento box and etc, I saw the card and he told me 'Happy Valentine's Day!' haha... he got confused I guess... then I told him it's 'Happy Mother's Day!' :-)

Speaking of Mother's Day, I think I will bring my mum for a mani/pedi session on Sat or Sun for a pamper me session. I still have leftover mani/pedi sessions from a nail care products package I got last month :-) That will be nice.. just the 2 mummies having a close bonding session! My last session was almost a month plus ago, and both my finger and toenail colours are chipping off... I'll need julep to help me get my nails back in tip top condition again! I guess it'll also be my last session before I pop hehe... better go do it quick! Vainpot mummy :D

Controversial article on Breastfeeding

This morning while surfing the net, this particular article seemed to have made airwaves on the web.

It's actually a story on Time magazine and a picture of a woman breastfeeding her 4-year old boy.

I have nothing against breastfeeding, instead I am all for it! Breastfeeding is God's greatest gift to all mothers! And the number of benefits to breastfeeding a baby is infinite.

But what caused it to be such a controversial article were these factors:

-It's pretty disturbing to see a 4-year old boy latching on his mum's boobs openly like that. Even if we nurse in public, we have a poncho/shawl to cover the chest area. Admit it, some people are just not open enough or comfortable to see f.l.e.s.h!

-The title! Are you Mom Enough? I think that's a terrible caption for the article and on top of that, cover of a popular mag. What do u mean by that? Some women might not bf due to various reasons, but we can't say they are not mom enough right? It gets many mothers very defensive rightaway....

What do you think? How timely for this article to be out when Mother's Day is this Sunday! LOL!

Oh, if you are wondering if I'm gonna bf my baby #2? HELL YEAH! God pls bless me with lots of moooooooooooo moooooooooooo juice :D

Getaway to the Highlands :-)

Last weekend, Jayden was away and we decided to go away again for a short getaway just the 2 of us... with a big belly, can't go far... so we headed up to the highlands!

Weather was perfect as we made our way up the winding roads, love it as the temperature decreases and just wind down the windows to let the cool breeze caress our faces....

We stopped at the Mushroom Farm for lunch, it's just another 5 minutes drive before you actually reach Genting Highlands.

We stayed at First World Hotel this time round, cos we had a free night's stay. Sometimes it'll be other hotels like Highlands Hotel or Resort Hotel.... depending on the promotion.

We always go up only when we have free accommodation :D

Our room overlooks the outdoor theme park, could hear screams from the rollercoaster rides... wished I could go there... but oh well, next time :-)

My time was mostly R & R... no shopping at all, cos I can't walk for long... so chillaxing at Starbucks enjoying the view... the weather :-)

Pregnancy #2- Mama at 36 weeks!

End of 36 weeks = Full term!

Super duper kan cheong now....

Everytime I express my anxiousness to my loved ones... especially hubs, he will be like:

Don't worry, we have a professional gynae....

Don't worry, you're in good hands!

Don't worry, you have all the help you need!

But for me, my worries are more like:

I don't like hospitals......... thinking of going through everything gives me the shivers!

I really hope I can breastfeed my baby rightaway... without having to substitute with formula milk

Baby is big according to my gynae, so he advised to schedule for caesar, at the moment 1/6 is THE date. Hopefully no.2 won't beat Jayden's birthweight at 4.23kg!

Been having sleepless nights as the date draws nearer....

God please keep me calm, I know everything will be fine... pray for me my dear friends and loved ones to keep me sane and happy!!!

Melaka Trip- Our last day

Ok last day of our Melaka trip.......... more food pix to come hehe... well that's our main agenda for this trip anyway.... to just chillax... jalan and MAKAN!

Next day after checking out of the hotel, we put our stuffs in the car and walked to Jonker Street again... still had some stuffs on checklist yet to complete :D

Weather was again HOT like hell, people had to Q all the way outside to order, I quickly went inside to find a place to sit first

After makaning so much Satay Celup, we headed to Jonker Street for walking and digesting our full tummies! Nothing much to get, just to walk off the fullness and enjoy the atmosphere :-)

Really salute this lady... both her arms have been amputated, no fingers, but she's writing excellent Chinese Calligraphy, she will write a poem out of your name etc. Admirable! We made a donation and she gave us a bookmark in return :-)

We finally went for banana leaf rice after such a long time. God knows how long.

Melaka trip- Part 2

Ok after chomping down goodies in Part 1 of our trip in the day, we eagerly waited for evening to arrive as we can have a taste of SATAY CELUP!!!!!!! Yes, it opens only in the evenings after 5.30pm till late at night.

We saved space in our tummies and eagerly made our way to try the very popular local delicacy from Melaka- Satay Celup. There are many popular restaurants in the city selling satay celup, mainly Capitol Satay and Ban Lee Siang, there were others as well that we saw along the way, but I guess not as popular :-)

As we made our way to our destination, we passed Capitol Satay, see pix below! This was the queue around 5.30pm......... OMG right? Heard from people that no matter what time you go, there's always a queue... no way am I gonna wait in line with a big tummy! And hubs will not do that too....

See the long long Q... the shop is small and has only around 12 tables, so each group will have to wait patiently for their turn!

You can see many youngsters who are gamed enough to wait in line for a table at Capitol Satay, not many people with families and kids

After driving for another 5-10 minutes, we arrived at Ban Lee Siang along Jalan Ong Kim Wee.

We chose this over Capitol Satay as we know the wait will be shorter and we just wanna EAT and not wait so long!

When we arrived, we got a table almost immediately!

What a relief :-) Pays to go early....

Ban Lee Siang occupies 2 shoplots compared to Capitol Satay so the waiting time is much shorter, can occupy more customers.

Wasted no time... we quickly adjourned to get what we wanted to eat :-)

The yummy peanut sauce in the middle of the table... before you start eating, someone will come round to top up the sauce and stir in more peanuts to make the sauce thick, yumz..........

They serve bread and cucumber slices as well for you to dip in the satay sauce... I love the cucumbers and ordered another plate of it

Altogether I counted 44 sticks... not including plates of quail eggs and drinks! :-)

Each stick costs RM0.60 regardless of what you take.

We ordered a few rounds of drinks as we were perspiring the whole time while we were eating, it was a HOT day!

The bill came up to RM40+ which was super reasonable... wish I can be there again relishing the whole experience, right NOW!

There was a long queue outside the restaurant when we finished... phew!

Verdict? Thumbs up!!!

Melaka Trip- Part 1

Hubs and I, yup just the both of us went for a weekend of purely makan trip to Melaka.... been craving for the food there since a few months back and I knew I had to go soon cos time is running O.U.T! :p
Melaka is really HOT man.... the sun really burns into your skin, makan also sweat, walk along the street and you have beads of sweat dripping down to your forehead into your eyes!

Was craving for the durian cendol, the chicken rice balls, satay celup etc! It was just a night's stay.. so as much food as we can gobble down.... LOL! sound like gluttons right....... :p

After reading great reviews on Nadeje Cake Shop, we decided to check out one of their outlets to try out the mille crepes!

As it was our first time there, I ordered the popular Original flavour, and my fav Rum and Raisin mille crepes and asked the staff there to recommend another flavour, he recommended Chocolate Strawberry

Original flavour... very nice, hubs and I loved it :-)

Last weekend, it was super duper HOT! It's so refreshing to just waddle and splish splash in the pool!

We try to let Jayden go swimming every weekend... his fav outdoor activity :-)

Pregnancy #2- Week 35 update

Saw this on FB and really liked this image of how baby grows from conception up to full term!

It's really amazing, how it all starts with a tiny little bean-like being, then slowly sprouts out its limbs, then slowly how the eyes move from the sides to the front to look more human.... God is great!

@35 weeks:

1. I'm nearly at the finishing line now, and preparations are being made to accommodate the arrival of #2 :-) So kan cheong (nervous) and excited at the same time............ setting up of the cot, taking out newborn clothing, making space for the baby stuffs, setting up the changing table, getting a chair for breastfeeding to be placed in my bedroom etc...

2. As of last check up, gynae said baby is around 2.5 - 3.0kgs already and will still gain weight for the next month.... Hope baby #2 won't beat kor kor's record of 4.23kgs at birth!

3. Mummy's feeling the strain! Can't sit up or lie down comfortably also... and not forgetting the many trips to toilet to pee.... everytime I walk, I feel like peeing, and when I go to toilet sometimes it's just a few drops arrgghhhhhhhh... baby's head down and pressing against the bladder that's why.

4. Movements are great, stronger and as baby is bigger and also cos the space is lesser and more restricted, nonetheless, still causes mummy discomfort when baby punches/kicks towards the side of my tummy!

5. Jayden is very excited with baby coming soon and keeps asking me 'why so long????' and just the other day, he was talking to baby, and told baby that when baby comes out, he will carry baby on his shoulder, and baby can sleep on his shoulder, cos it's like a cushion :-) so sweet :-)

6. For this pregnancy, my linea negra appeared around 32-33 weeks :-) still trying to capture a pix of that!

Craving for seafood!

I wanted to have seafood this evening so badly! It's like now the end is near and I wanna do and eat so many things lol ;-)

Was craving for crabs and fried sotong in particular :p

Settled for a seafood restaurant near our place. They didn't have normal crabs, only soft shell crabs which I didn't feel like it. So I settled for sotong and mantis prawns.

Buttermilk nai pah- not bad at all! And fried tofu with minced pork, good!

That's how we ended our labour day- working hard eating! Haha :D

Pregnancy #2- Photos from Photoshoot!

Finally the long awaited photos from my recent photoshoot! I've been anxiously waiting for my photographer to get them all ready and send them to me... I told her 'take your time, don't rush'! Don't want rush jobs... she's also a mother of 2, so I understand it will take her some time to get it done.

Overall, I'm SO pleased with the photos :-) no regrets at all! I would definitely regret if I didn't go ahead with this photoshoot for my 2nd pregnancy :-)

Tayo The Little Bus

Jayden loves this new cartoon that is showing on Astro's Disney Junior channel right now, if I am not wrong it's daily at 5pm!

It's all about buses, cars etc... no wonder Jayden likes it lah hehe

It's a Korean animation and I must say they make really cute cartoons! Like Porroro, Dibo the Gift Dragon etc.
