Hello again to my subscribers of feeds from TodayinAustin.com.

I have decided to reduce the number of feeds. The only feeds that will continue in the immediate future will be: Today's Events at UT, Planning Ahead, Live Music in the Clubs, and Restaurant - Events, News and Reviews.

Sorry to say, some of you won't be getting news in your current feeds. I hope that you will take a look at the others and give them a try.

Celebrate the changing of the seasons at McKinney Roughs! Come to the park for a fun family hike as a naturalist guides you along one of our many beautiful trails. We’ll bring together a unique blend of natural history to describe how land and water stewardship is critical to animal, plant and human life along the Colorado River. After your hike, visit McKinney Roughs’ interactive exhibits and enjoy a nature craft or borrow a trail pack and take the kids outside to enjoy one of our self-guided nature scavenger hunts together. Bring a picnic lunch, and make it a nature day! Pre-registration is recommended for hikes. Hikes are limited to the first 20 participants and are designed to include families with children of all ages. Clubs or groups should schedule a private hike by e-mailing outdoorprograms@lcra.org.

First Saturday of each month through August
10 a.m.-1 p.m., FREE, all ages
Hikes are one hour and leave from Visitors’ Center at 10 am and returns at 11 am

Texas Outdoor Adventure Day

Like the first explorers of Texas, we will travel down the Colorado River, navigate through the woods, and climb to great heights. Meet at McKinney Roughs for a day of excitement, adventure and good food. The day begins at the challenge course where we will get vertical on the rock-climbing wall and zip line. Next, everyone becomes an explorer as we use Global Positioning System (GPS) units to navigate the McKinney Roughs hiking trails back to enjoy our campfire lunch. We top it off with a splash - a raft trip down the Colorado River where getting wet is guaranteed. Pre-registration is required.

Enjoy hourly sculpture challenges and the large-scale knitted work by artist Magda Sayeg on the Blanton's Faulkner Plaza. Compete in the sculpture challenge inspired by Omar Schiliro's art in "Recovering Beauty." Attend Art Talks for the Next Generation with subjects like "They Did What?" and "The BIG Question: What Is Art?" And join in on contemporary art tours.

Attend Steamroller Madness during Explore UT

Nature Nights: Astronomy

Arthouse at the Jones Center is now taking entries for our 12th annual juried high school art exhibition! This annual exhibition is organized by Arthouse to give advanced high school art students the opportunity to have their work exhibited in a professional setting and receive feedback from a well-respected curator.

About the Juror:
The 2011 Ahead of Their Time exhibition juror is Rachel Adams, Curator of Public Programs at Arthouse at the Jones Center. She graduated in 2010 with an MA in Exhibition and Museum Studies from the San Francisco Art Institute and curated exhibitions at David Cunningham Projects and Queens Nails Projects in San Francisco. From 2006-2008, she was the director of Lloyd Dobler Gallery in Chicago, which she co-founded with Patricia Courson.
