The establishment of the institute has showered upon a number of benefits to the entire medical scenario in West Bengal.The West Bengal University of Health Sciences has been set up by an Act of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly in the year 2003 for better management of the health and medical education related courses which were so far taught separately by the University of Calcutta, and the Universities of Burdwan and North Bengal. All the courses have been brought under one umbrella for helping in upgrading the level of teaching in the state.West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), located at Salt Lake in Kola, is a prominent name in the field of medical education. It was established by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences Act, 2002, passed by the West Bengal Legislature.

Punjab bandh

The Punjab Bandh call has been supported by various Sikh organisations including the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee. Earlier, Dal Khalsa, a radical Sikh organisation had announced on October 23 that they will hold a Bandh on November 3 to protest against the atrocities on Sikhs during riots of 1984. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Jathedar of the Akal Takhat Giani Joginder Singh Vedani and president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Avtar Singh Makkar expressed their gratitude to the people for making the bandh a complete success and maintaining peace.

The bandh called by the Akal Takht to protest against the alleged disrespect to Guru Gobind Singh, 10th Sikh guru, by Dera Sacha Sauda chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh affected life in Punjab on Tuesday. He said that a particular newspaper had published said news on its front page citing secret information sent by Intelligence Bureau that possible threat of militant attacks on Bandh day.

The PTET is being organised by Technical Education, Jodhpur. The last date for depositing fees for first cut off list of candidadtes was 15-7-2009. Now PTET B.Ed. Online Counselling will start on 17 July 2009. Now Candidates can log on to below website and fill in the options. After filling the options the choices has to be locked. The PTET Co-ordinator Professor AK Malik told that in First cut off list total 74,260 candidates were declared. Out of these candidates Arts list was of 52,368, Science list was 16,523 and commerce was 5369.

The University was received university recognition from the Universities Grant Commission in the year of its founding. The University was founded by India’s first President, Dr S Radhakrishnan. The PTET First college allotment list is now declared. According to Mr Malik 67,594 candidates has deposited the fees out 74,260 candidates from first list.

The PTET College allotment list is now available at its official website. The PTET candidate has to deposit the Rs 2000 in any branch of Bank of baroda by 15-7-2009. The remaining fees of rs 20,429 has to be deposited after allotment of PTET College. The option for selection of PTET College can be filled from 17 July 2009 to 24 July 2009.
