I was a bit out of practice and forgot how much work it had been in previous years. The retreat holds a warm place in my heart every year and it is always a moment of spiritual re-charging for me. Of course it is a physically draining weekend, God’s grace keeps me through the late nights. Enjoy!

I am not much of a football fan. If something doesn’t have a USB port, an Apple Logo, and a screen on it, I don’t usually pay attention. But the New Orleans Saints have swept through my fare state of Louisiana like the breath of the Almighty. I think that what has happened is much bigger than a team of amazing athletes having an widly successful season. What we are seeing is a city, nah state, finding hope again.

Click here to view the embedded video.

This video gave me some perspective about how deep this is for people of Louisiana and New Orleans. I was shocked a few nights ago when the Saints won the NFC championship cinching their place in the Superbowl, that countless numbers of people were brought to tears over the victory. In my city of Lafayette, 3 hours west of New Orleans, there were fireworks going off across the night sky! After speaking with a few residents of New Orleans I now know why this was so important. It said to the world that New Orleans is alive once again! That there is no longer a spirit of “rebuilding” in our hearts, but of resolve that the foundation has been rebuilt and the hope of New Orleans is touching the heavens like skyscrapers of new growth.

I have been playing around with the Chrome web browser this week and have to admit that it is fast, smart, and elegant. Don’t get me wrong…I am a bit of a browser whore. I move from Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and yes, even IE throughout the day. As a web designer I am currently forced to test websites in multiple browsers for compatibility. This is a necessary evil until the browser community get’s their act together and can agree to support and render the web the same. So my official take on Chrome is that it is a great and fast web browser for your general surfing. It won’t become my developer browser until I get Firebug and Web Developer Toolbar, two essential dev tools, but it has picked up steam as my surfing browser. So I encourage people to check it out and see what you think. Easy to download and install.

I figured everyone else was running a special Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale so I had a few things that I wanted to put on the market that are for sale. I am trying to sell a few things to raise some money to replace my stolen Nikon D200. Let me know if you are interested! If you are local and I know you I will accept check, money order, cash, or paypal. If you are stumbling upon this on the internet I will only accept paypal or money order. I would take actual pictures of the devices on request, but I don’t have a camera anymore so some of these images are stock. If more information is needed or pictures requested I will make sure to add them.

SOLD Nikkor 35mm 1.8 DX Lens with UV filter in box – $170

This is a great lens and I really hate to part with it, but I recently purchased another lens that replaced it’s need. Seeing as my camera was STOLEN, it doesn’t make much since for me to keep this lens when I don’t have a camera for it to go on. This lens was fantastic for low light and amazingly sharp. It provided a great depth of field at lower stops and was sharp as hell. More info: http://tinyurl.com/dcokgh

This netbook has been a great addition to my computer arsenal. It started out as a pet project that I had tons of fun working on. The computer is running OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.1 UPDATE: 10.6.2 and dual boots OS X and Lite Version of Windows XP. UPDATE: I have cleaned the machine and just reloaded OS X to save space. This machine was great for surfing the net while watching TV and especially useful for testing websites in Internet Explorer for screen size and browser compatibility. It was a great note-taking or on the run machine.
