The Gospel Blast will be an exciting and worship filled evening of gospel music featuring groups from KCBT and the surrounding metro area. Our guests represent the spectrum of gospel music from southern quartets to modern gospel choirs. Guest groups include  the following:

Kids’ Night Out is an event that provides inexpensive child care for parents desiring a night on the town. The children, birth to fifth grade, enjoy an evening of their own, with dinner (age 2 and up), snacks, and exciting themed activities. This is a great evangelistic opportunity for our church to reach out to single parents and couples in our community. Invite another parent to dinner and bring their children to KCBT with your own!

Fabulous Fifth Sundays are a time for our church body to meet together and celebrate all that God is doing in our local community. These services are a wonderful time to invite friends and family; both worship services include baptisms, testimonies, and the Lord’s Supper.

While most Sunday morning classes are cancelled to allow time for this family celebration; SkyKids classes for Newborns through Grade 2 meet in their normal locations.

Parents, children, and extended family are invited to attend our baby dedication service. This family event will be incorporated into our Fabulous Fifth celebration. Please submit a .jpg photo of your child to Kellie Cornley by Friday, November 20. As Pastor Adams introduces each child we’ll display the image on the auditorium screens.

Parents meet in Room 107 at 9:00 AM with children ready to go. All other guests for the service are asked to be in the auditorium by the beginning of the 9:45 service. A banquet will be held for parents and their children immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Please indicate the number of lunch guests (immediate family members only, please) when you register your child.

From November 15 throughout December a Christmas Benevolence Projects offering will be taken to help meet the needs of our church family, active duty military men and women, shut-ins and other special projects within our city.

Christmas is a time when thoughts turn to family, friends, and helping those less fortunate. This year KCBT is partnering with Angel Tree at Christmas. Angel Tree connects parents in prison with their children and gives churches an opportunity to share Christ’s love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. Participating in Angel Tree is a powerful way for KCBT to lovingly answer the biblical call to minister to the least of these in our very own Raytown community. Angel Tree at Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. KCBT volunteers can purchase and deliver gifts and the gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent.

There are an estimated 1.5 million children who have a mom or dad in prison. The number is huge – but so is the opportunity. By partnering with Angel Tree, KCBT is part of the bigger plan to help reach out to a half million of these children and their families with the love of Christ each year. The purpose of Angel Tree is to seek to transformation in the lives of these families and to reconcile them to their Heavenly Father and each other.

We want Christmas to be a special time for our families to have fun and fellowship together.  Immediately after both Worship Services you are invited to enter a new world downstairs, starting in the Gym as you step into “A Miracle on 55th Street”! There will be opportunities for kids 3 years old through third grade to shop for their parents— gifts under $5 and wrapping available. Multicultural displays will be in the basement and children will be given stockings in class to bring down and fill up!  We have ‘roaming’ drama vignettes and children caroling in the halls, a special rest stop in Room 106 with famous clips from Christmas movies and much more! We’ll display a prayer wall for 2010 requests, a new members wall with pictures, and . . . oh my, what would Christmas be like without delicious treats!

WinterFest 2010 is our High School winter retreat. Camps and retreats are vital to Student Ministry as a time to get away from the everyday distractions and focus our attention on our relationships with God and one another. Please bring your Bible, toiletries, and clothing (including warm clothing for winter activities).

We will stay at the Sheraton Sports Complex – check-in Friday night at 6:00pm, checkout Monday morning at 11:00am. Please drop off and pick up your student/s promptly. The cost of $100 includes 3 nights stay at the hotel, 3 morning breakfast buffets, and one activity. Students need to bring money for four meals and other activities, which may include bowling, arcades, etc.

Those interested in using the CocoKey indoor water park at the hotel can pay at the retreat when you go down to swim. Tell them you are with our group and the cost will be $10 for a one day pass or $15 for a two day pass.

All of us SkyKids here at the Kansas City Baptist Temple would like to invite you to join us for our Kids’ Academy Christmas Program: Christmas Hang Ups! It’s the story of a “traditional” Christmas family celebrating the season as they put up their Christmas tree. A surprise package arrives, and the family is introduced to some very “un-Christmassy” new friends. Ultimately, all involved receive help from a very special visitor. There will be singing, dancing, drama, and Christmas fun for everyone! Doors open at 5:30pm. As always, this is a great event to invite your friends and family (especially those with kids) to attend. We hope to see you there!

All women are welcome to come pray with us!  We gather to pray that God would reveal Himself to us, that we would know who we are in Him, that we would know who we are to one another, and that the lost of the world would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Join us every Tuesday evening for a time of corporate prayer. We meet in the main KCBT auditorium to interceded for one another, lift up ministry and missions opportunities, and to learn how to pray. This is a great way to connect with other members of our local body and learn how God is ministering to our community. Everyone is welcome.

Monthly Prayer Focus

KCBT is passionate about experiencing and promoting a church-wide culture of prayer. Join us the first Tuesday of each month as we grow in our dependence on God and call on the Lord for needs from all over the globe. The evening will include a time of praise and worship as well as updates from our  Prayer TEAMs. Childcare will be provided.

We would love for you to join us as we minister to the children. If you are interested in serving in any area of our Children’s Ministry, please attend our next Volunteer Orientation meeting. For the safety of all children, all volunteers must complete and pass a criminal background screening and KCBT Elementary Screening Form.
